It's not that Percy's weapon doesn't work, it just...shorts out sometimes (mostly whenever Taliesen rolls poorly)

When the kid asks Vax if he is a wizard because of the coin trick, it is a fun little easter egg because Liam, Vax's player/voice actor, plays a wizard in campaign 2.

It really does. Season 2 is AMAZING.

My favourite fact is that the kids in this season (and a lot in the second season too) are played by the cast's actual children since they made the show and wrote and cast it themselves. A lot of other voices are famous/friends of theirs.

Welcome to the series! I hope you guys continue to enjoy. A funny Easter egg is that the guy who Scanlan peed on is drawn to look like the dm Matt Mercer. There are characters that look like him throughout the series, usually the victim of some misfortune or another

You lucky kids. Thankfully there's no waiting for Season 2 but you can look forward to season 3 with the rest of us.

Great react video, loved the energy level here. A few fun side notes: The Tavern Keeper at the start was 100% fan created via a series of polls as part of the Kickstarter for this series and is played by Mason Park (Sandman's Desire) The guard who got peed on, is Matthew Mercer. He does a number of background characters and without telling him, the animators at Titmouse thought it would be funny for all of them to look like Matt. Sam (Scanlan) used to regularly improv lyric swapped versions of pop songs at the table, it's great he got a chance to write original pieces for this show, they are all great! Percy and a character you meet later basically invented firearms in this world most of what Percy does is highly experimental. That bar fight is not the last time we'll see things fail at the worst moment.

Nobody ever seems to get the "Slaughtered like lambs!" reference. (And then a lamb hops out of the bushes and gets slaughtered.)

Fun fact: those two kids in the village were played by Sam Riegel's (Scanlan's) son and Liam O'Brien's (Vax's) daughter. They (and Sam's daughter too) show up all over the show.

To be fair, Percy's pepperbox is the first firearm ever made in this world, so it has some kinks. But trust me, Percy holds the record for highest amount of damage inflicted in a single turn

Heyyy, welcome new Critters!! The Legend of Vox Machina (LoVM) is an adaptation of Critical Role's first campaign, where they played a party called Vox Machina. There are two seasons out so far (with a third already in production) and if you like this season you will _love_ the second one. They also (somewhat) recently announced they are working on a sister show (name tbd) based on their second campaign, where they played a party called The Mighty Nein (yes, that's how it's spelled, it's a pun. German word for no/the number 9).

The amazing cast they were able to get to join them is just incredible. They have a who's who in game/animation voice acting plus a ton of heavy hitter stars from film and tv. The animation starts great and only gets better. Seriously, you will be constantly picking up your jaw from the floor from the animation. Writing is top notch, to be able to condense literally over 500 hours of gameplay to a show full of fan service for the people that already know Critical Role and still easily accessible and enjoyable for new fans too.

Sam has explained how he's gotten a lot of famous names, and it's so simple but tugs right at the heart strings. He doesn't tell them in depth what the show is about. Instead, he tells them how this story started with a group of friends playing at the table and along the way became so wildly popular, with such a large fanbase that they crowd funded most of a season. I can't see many actors saying no after hearing that. David Tennant said that he thought all shows should start out like Critical Role did.

Bidet (traditional Critter greeting), the show is taken from the first campaign. It doesn’t follow it exactly, there is hundreds of hours of streaming, some condensing was necessary. This show will bring you all the feels. The show has been green lit for at least season 3 as well as campaign 2 (the Mighty Nein)

You guys are in for a treat! It really picks up after episode 2, and then season 2 is even better than season 1! Tip...avoid spoilers for the live stream. It's better to be surprised when watching the animated series.

The craziness of the Kickstarter actually is what helped sell the show to the big name actors they pulled in to play roles. Sam told them the rise of Critical Role, from home game to insanely success Kickstarter. I don't know many actors that would say no to a project with that sort of built in viewership.

Look up their reaction to the series being funded. It was PRICELESS.

If I remember right Matt voiced Superman, Travis Lex Luther, Taliesen one of the Ninja Turtles, and one of the girls voiced Barbie in the cartoons

Vex is a ranger and they have an ability called primeval awareness. Her favored enemy is dragons (class feature) so she can tell when dragons are near. That psychic ability is this show's representation of that. Played by Laura Bailey (Abbey from Last of Us Part 2, Jaina Proudmoore in World of Warcraft and young Trunks in Dragon Ball Z).

Boy, i am so happy i found this. My inner goblin can't wait to see how yall react to this amazing show. Also, 2 bits of info. The flying ship is called a Spelljammer, and properly outyfitted ones can travel in space. Also, the dragon turning into a human isn't too out of the ordinary since many powerful dragons learn the Polymorph spell.

Yay more people reacting to Vox Machina! This is my FAVORITE animated series. When I first watched the show I had never heard of Critical Role nor did I know this show was basically their campaign animated. I had no clue Critical Role was even a D&D group, so I went into the show completely blind. I’m grateful that I did, but now I’m actually watching the original campaign. I have a long ways to go, but it’s awesome. It’s so funny to see the little details that are taken directly from their games, because there are a lot.

Was not expecting this but very excited for you guys to start this!

I got a 1-month trial of Amazon Prime, binged both seasons, then canceled my subscription. It's the only "television" I've watched in about ten years. Best animated show I've seen since Futurama.

The 2014 rules for the Ranger allows them to specialise in Killingone type of Creature . One of the abilities is to detect the pproximity which is adapted to the migraine

Rangers (the class Vex is) have a ‘preferred enemy’ option where they get extra senses if that enemy is involved (being vague to avoid spoilers). Vex’s enemies are dragons.

At 12:27, actually it's more than just personal. The little boy who dies, is voiced by Liam O'brian's actual son. So Vax gave a silver coin to his son only to watch his son die because he failed. The boy's sister was voiced by the daughter of Sam Regal. (Scanlan Shortholt). Better known for voicing Yugi in the show Yugio !

I thought i was late to watch this series, i put it off for a year after it came out. But finished season 1 a few months ago, and season 2 like in beginning of April. It's one of my favorite series on Prime, and possibly of all time. Both are epic seasons.

So I'm a bit late on this, but one of the amazing things about this show is that the people who played the game (who are now known as Critical Role) have full creative control of the show. So all of the decisions come down to their team and are a pretty accurate version of how things went down in their game.

I actually had no idea Ashley Johnson played the little girl in the movie, Lionheart, 1 of my favorite Van Damme films (1 of many of his I love). I never knew that. I'm glad you guys are reacting to this show. It gets better and better.

The game started as a oneshot for the Liam's birthday, but they all had so much fun, they kept coming back for more. At some point, Ashley suggested they start livestreaming it on Geek & Sundry's twitch channel; it's probably the biggest reason why tabeltop roleplaying has become popular again. When they finished the Vox Machina campaign, they started their own business and twitch channel, and a kickstarter for an animated special that broke records (and their minds). There are also comics that shed some light on the prestream portion of the campaign. The show has truncated a lot and skipped the rest, but it's been well done so far. You've probably heard *all* their voices before. Matt voices various side characters, like the guy who lost a hand, and the peed-upon guard that looks remarkably like him! Vax has a Belt of Returning, it technically returns thrown weapons to the belt, not the hand. Percy's pepperbox is the first of its kind on Exandria, and it misfires when Taliesin rolls too low on an attack roll. Sam used to parody trademarked songs for his bard spells; after creating the theme song for their second campaign, the show has given him the opportunity to spread his musical wings... to great effect, as you'll see. Blue dragons breathe lightning. Rangers can choose favoured enemies, and can sense them when they concentrate; it's not supposed to hurt, but the changes they make are for the sake of increasing the drama. I don't agree with *all* of them, but they're trying to squeeze 115 episodes that usually lasted 3-4 hours into 12-episode seasons, so I understand why. Season one is good. Season two is *better.*

Vex's ability is Called preferred enemy, a D&D Ranger ability. In D&D dragons come in Types, Chromatic, Red, Blue, Green, white, & Black metallic, Gold, Brass, Bronze, and Silver, Copper, they all hdifferentent Breath attacks, depending on they colour. Fire, Lighting, Poison, Ice, & Acid. however no Metalic Dragon breaths Poison,. you are going to love this series.

Look for background characters that look like Matt Mercer. The animators did it as an Easter egg in almost every episode. The guy Scanlan peed next to looked like Matt.

Did you notice David Tennant's voice? He's doing the voice of the General Krieg, on the council. He wore plate armor and a blue shirt, and spoke with a Scottish Accent. There are some very famous actors voicing some of the NPCs in this show. We have a couple of actors who were hobbits in the Lord of the Rings, and several actors from Game of Thrones. Go take a look at the cast list. Amazon Prime Video should allow you to see names of actors who are in the current scene.

When I started watching, I didn't know about the DnD connection, but loved the sense of randomness. When I learned that it was based on gameplay, it all made sense.

Percy's gun is the first invented on this world, so as a prototype it can misfire if his luck is a bit off.

glad to see yall did your research before :3 be on the look out for matt mercer in the show xD he's like Stan Lee, hes in like every episode as a back ground character, in this one hes the guy scanlan peed on XD and to note each of the characters 'class's' because they were all show cased here: Vex - she is a ranger, the noise heard is a indicator of her class ability that lets her track and know when her 'favored enemy' is close by, in this case its dragons :3 Vax - he is a rouge! what you guys saw with his daggers returning to him is a magic item he had that any daggers he kept holstered in it would return to him automatically Grog - very simple, hes a barbarian, he hits like a truck and has an hp pool to match! his special ability is his rage :3 Percy - a little complicated, he was a gunslinger from pathfinder not dnd, when they converted to dnd5e Matt and him created a fighter sub class for gunslinger Keylith - shes a druid, she can control animals and nature along with talking to them, her spells typically center around nature like the one used on the dragon being 'call lighting' she can also become animals with her 'wild shape' which will come up more later :3 Scanlan - the classic Horney bard, his magic requires his musical talent and he specializes in illusion magic though per the way his class works hes literally a jack of all trades :3 and Pike - she is a cleric, the healer and holy person of the group, very straight forward XD hope yall really get into it its a great show and remember, no ones life is safe! everyone is up for grabs when it comes to death, dnd doesnt have plot armor >:3 and Matt isn't a 'no-kill' DM so always be very afraid if someone goes unconscious(meaning in game they hit 0hp and are making death saves to stay alive) >:D

Yeah, Percy gun doesn't always work. He get more flak for it in the series than in the campaign, but honestly, otherwise he'd just be too OP (which he indeed was at times in the campaign).

D&D Life Lesson #1 Dragons can be a real problem to fight, best to have your party's bard seduce it.

The crew of Critical Role really missed the boat by not hosting a Reaction watch party when they watched their creation brought to life for the first time as a group.

If you've already found yourself tearing up at the first episode, I recommend investing in some extra facial tissue.
