Haven’t watched it yet, but now I’m stoked to be everyone.
Damn, one of my best friends growing up took his own life a few years back. I met him at the local dirt jumps when we were 14 and we were inseparable after that. I remember sitting in the gas station parking lot eating jelly donuts before we'd go to the trails and ride all day only to wake up and go back. He had some quirks about him that I only realized later were some mental health issues. For you younger guys out there, cherish your friends and the memories you make with them. Your lives will run parallel for a while only to go their separate ways. In the end the only thing you may have left will be the memories and those days that seemed like endless summer nights will become the moments that shape your life. And Taj, if you are reading this far just know that you were a huge inspiration to me as a young kid as well as when I got older. You and I know many of the same people and I've actually ridden with you before. I still have your "Balance of Nature" UGP shirt that I just keep tucked away in a closet not to be worn again, but to keep as a reminder or my times spent with my dear good friend. Be safe

good words!
The Mogwai shirt is a great touch.
The word legend gets thrown around a lot in BMX but Paul B is the definition.
My favorite Austin Story of all time. Rip in peace, Paul 🖤🏴☠ ps - one time back when I was riding bikes, I handwrote a letter to him when I was feeling down when I realized I will never be able to not suck, and it was when I saw him do something in a magazine so incredible behind the Olive Garden on Burnet that I knew I should prolly give it up, and he actually wrote back...and told me about just riding down the street was all I need. It changed my whole life - I would prolly be sitting on a couch every weekend right now if it wasn't for Paul.
💯💯💯
Taj Mihelic! Dude I had a poster of you on my wall for years back in the late 90's. So cool to randomly find this today.
Paul is in own level, you know what I mean!! Love it.
Bmx needs more stuff like this! Great work all around!
Thank you for this. Amazing story of an amazing rider from another time. For those of us that knew him, he still rides with us in spirit. Missing Paul. 🙌 ❤❤❤❤❤ 🙌
Love, love loveeeee this. RIP Paul.
Great video. I met Paul when we were in grade 9 in London, Ontario. We got chatting one day when he walked into our science class and spotted me reading a copy of Go - that must have been 1990. We were the only two kids into bikes in the school, so we rode a lot together. I used to go over to his house to watch Ride Like a Man or Head First before heading down to the ramps at Gibbons Park or the dirt jumps at Vauxhall or First Street. I was never really that dedicated and I never got very good, but even at 14 it was obvious that Paul was going to be amazing. He was different from everyone else - completely focused, and he only seemed to care or think about two things: bike riding, and good music for riding to. Even then he was on his own level - he was more creative than everyone else, always trying things that nobody else would think of, always pushing himself. I can honestly say that I was in awe of him a lot of the time. I think he left for Vancouver around the time I went to university and we lost touch, but I'm really sorry to know that he's gone, and it's awesome to see videos like this one.

I went to school with Paul too, class act!
Paul blew my mind every time I would see him ride at jams in the NW. This is great Taj! Appreciate all the work you put into this!
A few months ago I made a joke on Facebook that I if I won the the lottery I would jump try the Austin church gap. My friend told me theres not enough money in the world to cover your medical bills if you miss. A few weeks later that same friend sent my the promo clip for this. RIP Paul, you did Canada proud.
Rest in paradise to an absolute legend. I first met Paul at the Lafarge skatepark here in BC when a was a wee teenager, he was hanging out with Dave Osato and one of the other Tenpack BMX guys. Such amazing energy from them, didnt even mind that I just watched them ride. What a beautiful story.
