The legacy of Baldwin Vs Buckley at the Cambridge Union

The student-run Cambridge Union has hosted debates for over 200 years. Arguably its most famous debate was between two intellectuals from the USA about race relations and the American Dream.
We take a look back on the legacy of the 1965 debate between James Baldwin and William F. Buckley Jr with the help of undergraduate student Neha and PhD candidate Darold Cuba.
The film features rehearsals from 'Debate: Baldwin vs Buckley' by theatre group the american vicarious.

As a very old man who has lived from the 40's until this year 2024; I was glad that you mentioned the juxposation of serious thought with humor. This is America! If one can't make fun of oneself, they have absolutely no right to judge others that are different than them in any respect.

Thank you. I wish more people would watch this. Deep down, Americans believe in Baldwins thoughts. But our youth HAVE to watch the debate.
