Ruta Lee is still with us and funny as hell in interviews. Paul Comi is gone but not forgotten.
It wouldn't be long after this that Burt Reynolds became a regular on Gunsmoke.

Burt Reynolds acting and looks improved as he mastered his craft.

Thank you for making this connection: I couldn’t place who he reminded me of-the black and white and gangster context definitely were the added factors for me thinking of Brando (but couldn’t name him until I saw your comment).

Lawless Years ran from Apr 1959 to Sep 1961 set in New York, on NBC. The Untouchables ran from Oct 1959 to Sep 1963 set in Chicago, on ABC as hour long episodes. Battle of the Lawmen and Gangsters.
From some angles Reynolds looked like the early Brando in this.
