The Laughing Heart by Charles Bukowski
🔰This is one of the first poems I've ever read from Bukowski so it made sense to make a video that was more personal to me. The place depicted on my frames is a small village in Greece. Thank you all for the kind messages you send me and I promise you the future of this channel is going to be amazing 💗

The Laughing Heart by Charles Bukowski
your life is your life
don’t let it be clubbed into dank submission.
be on the watch.
there are ways out.
there is light somewhere.
it may not be much light but
it beats the darkness.
be on the watch.
the gods will offer you chances.
know them.
take them.
you can’t beat death but
you can beat death in life, sometimes.
and the more often you learn to do it,
the more light there will be.
your life is your life.
know it while you have it.
you are marvelous
the gods wait to delight
in you.

@@illneas Oh, Jesus H, illneas!!! I've just watched this again & you've made me cry - you swine! It's so beautiful. Going through all your material, what has struck me is that, no matter how frankly depressing any line of poetry is, you never resort to clichéd images of grave yards, coffins, cadavers, etc. The stuff of amateurs. You're always looking for signs of life in amongst the Tales of Ordinary Madness 😉. In my very favourite short film, The Crunch, you cut a soaring section of the music quite exquisitely to a particular refrain of "people are just not good to each other", with nothing more than a simple head shot of Will Smith, a few tears rolling down his cheeks. No need for shots of firing squads, or whatever. Those few tears say it all. It is masterful. Perfectly timed. It gets me every time. (Sorry for going on. If I see something exceptional, I call it out!). Looking forward to Invictus. Take care of yourself. Grazie molto x

It beats the darkness, I'm glad you like it.
Someone once told me, after listening, that this is what God would tell humanity. Whether you believe in any divinity or not, the thought of it seems beautiful and accurate.
Stomio seems like a nice place to visit.
This is as close to going towards the light with boldness and strength to make the change as one can get. Be in the light without darkness. Make that change in your life to do that ❤️
Its not a poem. It's a delicate way of telling you a truth.
The aesthetic of this video is so beautiful...💙
Thank you for making my day better ❤️

My best motivational words I have ever heard in my life
the views are so beautiful, but the second time a watched it again with my eyes closed, and i can hear my late grandpa saying those words. it hits me sm rn
It is known that Charles Bokowski sometimes had his readings. Imagine if its had been accompanied by this music (alive) and this videoset on a huge screen and perhaps some light installation it could have been an incredible show and Charles would have been a world superstar
Whoever made this video is a genius!!❤️

I was an avid reader when I was reader, but since 10, I hadn't read a single book. Now, 6 years later, Bukowski touched me because of your videos. I've read "Ham on rye", "Factotum", "Post office" all in a day each, and they all are only increasing my desire to read, and I'm reading other authors too to fulfill this desire. Absolutely brilliant ❤️🙏
This and Roll The Dice made me cry every time I listened to them last year. I’ve read and listened to a lot of poetry and my grandmother is related to JM Synge who was a close friend/associate of Yeats. Some say he was better than Yeats but he died at 38. Anyway, Bukowski is definitely one of my absolute favourites. Poetry snobs can go to hell - Bukowski’s writing is utterly beautiful. Another favourite, who saved me 25 years ago (during a horrible panic attack) is James Douglas Morrison 😎 Bukowski talked about how you shouldn’t write poetry unless it explodes out of you. It exploded out of Jim kzread.info/dash/bejne/k6ectsOod9W4YtI.html
You are wonderful. You are my favorite person to follow on KZread. Thank you.
