As a NY'er I remember these all. It was such a happier time that I feel tears in my eyes. We don't realize how complicated and rushed we've made life today. It was about being with family back then and everyone was in the same boat. Much much simpler times. Now we have everything and nothing at the same time.

Well said man. As a fellow NYer I agree! Nostalgia and great memories from a time long past. Now the song “We May Never Pass This Way Again” makes more sense now than it did when I was a kid.

@@ronaldh8446 Thanks. I remember asking my mother on Friday "who's house are we going to this weekend?" My favorite thing was sitting at the table and listening to all the stories my Aunts and Uncle's would tell. Then playing with my cousins. No smartphones, just a very warm time with people you love. All these older people worked hard, but they seemed so content and lighthearted. I feel like I'm on another planet when I visit with people these days. I don't enjoy it. The soul of society is gone.

It was special. I feel bad looking back because I knew those times were fun and I took it for granted then that certain things wouldn't change because they seemed so perfect an experience. Looking through a TV Guide to find out a show or movie was gonna be airing and making sure I got home to see it... looking for a movie in the newspaper timetables to see where a film was playing (can't make the showing in time, let's head over to that neighborhood theater instead). Why would any of that fade away. It was blissfully naive. History has always showed us everything changes or fades eventually. Nothing lasts and that's such a shame. Thankful for the beautiful memories.

@@ronaldh8446 I could've wrote the same myself. I look back at photographs from the 1970's and everyone had, like you said, "a blissfully naivety" about them. You can see the contentment in their eyes. They say that medical is so much better. Yeah, but are we any happier or less fearful? They say we're more politically correct and accepting of each other. Well, people may not speak openly about it, but the exact same prejudices and hate for anyone out of the "norm" is as strong as ever. We are not advancing. We're declining.

I'd LOVE to see the "It's 10PM; do you know where your children are?" spot and the graphic on the screen was a shadowy street scene in some city. But yeah, Chiller Theatre turned up but no Creature Features .

The 4:30 Movie Intro channel 7, Planet Of the Apes week, we got the first four ape movies, but on the fifth day it was The Omega Man. I miss those days running home from school just to watch it. The channel 5 Drive In Movie Theater with all the Shaw Brothers Kung Fu Flicks. Channel 11 WPIX Sunday Afternoon Movie, I would never miss the Abbott And Costello movies. Fright Night Theater channel 9, I was in there for some Night Of The Living Dead. Chiller Theater Channel 11 WPIX I was in there for some of that gore as well.
