After the NATO summit, European leaders of state are not at all worried. He didn't just hold a speech. He had lengthy, coherent conversations with them, including Jens Stoltenberg, the Secretary General of NATO. He is able to hold a lengthy conversation about a series of complicated issues with profound and wide knowledge and understanding, without losing focus on the topic at hand. When Trump became President, NATO staff tried to teach him the bare basics about the history and purposes of the alliance in as simple terms as possible. ("It was basically a class for elementary school students".) He learned absolutely NOTHING from that. He proudly demonstrated that with great clarity in his spectacularly unhinged, horrible, clueless "speech" (tantrum) at the NATO Summit in 2017. General Mattis was so mortified by that disgusting rant that he looked shell shocked when he apologized on camera afterwards, and assured us that America's commitment to NATO was unchanged regardless of what the POTUS had said. We can't have a dangerously stupid Putin plant in the WH again. For the first time in NATO history, we had to protect ourselves from our greatest ally. We like allies who works with us, not with the only common enemy that the NATO alliance has ever had. Biden is 81. We care about the substance of the POTUS, not the appearance of the surface "wrapping paper" that way to many Americans are obsessing over. We are worried sick about that, because you guys vote for all of us.

Think that might be why his handlers haven't let Joe do many press conferences, where he's forced to think on his feet? Yet they say they were "shocked" by what happened at the debate. At any rate our 2 countries are inextricably connected by a power grid that extends across the entire eastern seaboard. Recalling in 2003 a blackout or failure of that grid throwing 50 million people into darkness for days, depending on where they lived. In Ontario they had an ad “electricity doesn’t come from a hole in the wall”. Daily and hourly electricity is bought and sold between the USA and Canada. Many are unaware.

Vote Diaper Don! Democracy is totally overrated

This is lowering the bar markedly. The question is not whether Biden can ever engage in normal extemporaneous speech, or move around independently. If one assumes that he is in a period of accelerated cognitive decline having good days and bad days would be normal. The question is whether he can consistently do those things. To prove that he would need to take on public facing engagements repeatedly over a period of time, not merely to pass some test, but to demonstrate to the public that he is capable. He has made all this far worse because he *hasn't* done any of that up to now, and his team has reacted defensively rather than by seeking to prove detractors wrong. This gives the impression that he cannot prove them wrong, and that they intend to cling on and attack anyone who questions it. And that only spurs people on to question it a great deal more, which leads to a snowball effect. Frankly his team are incompetent. They requested and negotiated the debate, they allowed it to go ahead. So either they knew the state he was in, and potentially might be in, and let that happen, or they were entirely blindsided by it. But a multitude of people have come forward to say they've experienced him behaving like that before. So they knew it was either a risk, or that it was a likelyhood, either depending on how he was behaving that day, or based on how often he behaved like that. They concealed that, and then placed him in that position. They've let their country and their candidate down pretty badly. And certainly Biden should have stepped down long ago, and that's on him. He could easily make the argument about his legacy and his policy, but he knew the risk he was taking with this, and if he didn't it was because of wilful blindness. A refusal to accept the evidence being presented to him.

Elders have traditionally been leaders in every culture because they have the experience needed to make the best decisions for their community, just as the young have been fighters,with their strength and passion. That said, I think Biden would have been happy to retire and spend time with loved ones, but he has the only chance of beating Trump and Project 2025, per the man who has correctly predicted the presidential election vote for the last 40 years. No doubt others would have retired, too.

Average wage increases are now overtaking inflation. The facts are clear, inflation started before Trump left office due to Trump giving the rich and big business massive tax cuts. That increase the National Debt by a record 4-year term of $7.9 Trillion, and most of that was before the pandemic that Trump totally mishandled, the delay of 3 months with Trump saying inject bleach, and masks don't work. The other thing that increased inflation was Putin's war.
