I am a mom who had to bury her Marine son. He was 18 when he was killed while serving. My family and I are so grateful for the amazing way our son/brother was brought back to us. I learned a lot about the honor and dignity that goes in to returning a warrior to their family. We are forever grateful.

He passed away 3 years ago on December the 7th after Celebrating his 62 Wedding Anniversary, he missed my 60th Birthday 2019 but he was with us in our Hearts and minds . i live near this base and have been since the late 90s. the shear amount of stuff that goes on at this base will boggle the mind. you name it they have it for the military service. this is the only base on the east coast that services all the planes for major inspections and repairs.

I couldn't imagine that it's an easy task dressing a dead body in clothing, let alone getting a military uniform on them.

You slice the back of the shirt and only worry about getting their arms through. Once they are laid out, they tuck the top piece(s) under. That’s how undertakers get bodies ready for funerals.

@@martinc.720 uh... I don't think YOU realize how difficult it is to move a body in rigor mortis. The uniform is going with the deceased, six feet under, where the fact that it has been cut is going underground with it. You make it sound like a drill sergeant is going to pop out of nowhere and come inspect his uniform in the casket. Sheesh.

@@bubbabiscuitcub Of course, YOU know stuff and others are complete idiots, completely ignorant. I guess it never happens to you to ask a simple question. I never thought anything like that, and I don't make it sound like anything. I was only asking something. Relax FFS. I guess basic training (or something else in your life) made you all mighty, and omniscient? Not all of us have this extraordinary talent. Jackass.

I work for a local funeral home and one of my jobs is dressing people. The other day I dressed a 60+ year old man who retired as an E9 Chief Master of the Pacific Fleet. He sure had a lot of ribbons. I was proud to do this because I was in the Army back in the 1970s. At one point I took some photos of his uniform and sent them into the Navy to ensure everything was correct. I will never know if the family or the man's friends ever notice the uniform or not, but I know it was done right. I respect anyone that wears or has worn an uniform in war or in peacetime. Thanks for your sevice!

retired from the army after 21 years of honorable service. in march 2004 i was stationed at fort riley as a ssg and was sent to dover to pick up the remains of a soldier from my unit that had been killed by an IED in iraq in order to take him to his hometown somewhere in New York state. i forgot the little town name. what a lot of people dont know is that what comes back to dover is not always a complete body. when they showed me the inside of the casket what i saw was just a uniform jacket with all the awards set up as explained in the video. i repeat just a uniform jacket. no head, no arms, no legs. there was a wooden divider in the middle of casket. the space where the legs go was empty. the jacket looked puffy like there was something inside but i will assume it was just material (hopefully some of that material actually belonged to the soldier) to shape the jacket. it was an explosion that totally destroyed the vehicle and killed the five occupant instantly. somebody that was in the convoy in front of the vehicle that drove on the IED told me later on that all of a sudden he didnt see the vehicle any more after the blast. it blew up in the air. i will assume not a single complete body was recovered. i also assume that maybe the word remains in very accurate in this case. i didnt ask what was inside the jacket. it was clear that there was not a body inside. i keep wondering what was inside the jacket. maybe tissue from another soldier. who knows. because after that blast according to my witness there was nothing left.
