As a current Stinger (GT2 RWD)owner since 2019, it's sad that more people didn't get to enjoy this awesome car. Good value for money. Still turns heads and drives like a dream. Watching from South Africa where only (RHD) 35 cars were imported. All in the same spec. I never considered letting it go before, but now I know I'm definitely keeping it. 100000km later, no issues.

I feel you. I own a 370z manual and there's less than 20 cars nationwide. I intend on keeping the Z forever, quite something owning a fun car that not many people have :)

Stinger was and will be an iconic to KIA's brands in ages of motors to EV. Kia Stinger stung German cars and made them uncomfortable. Kia Stinger stung Japanese cars and made them pale in comparison from every aspects(powertrain interior...etc). Although it's not a hit, it represents the spirit those who dare to challenge authority. Salute to Korean car industry and endeavor!

I bought mine in early 2020 days before we went into lockdown here in Australia. I did a lot of research comparing BMW's , Mercs, Audis, Genesis etc. and at the end of the day, when all things considered such as price, quality, performance, standard equipment, warranty and sheer driving experience, the Stinger was miles ahead of the others followed by the Genesis. I love mine and it is easily the best car I have ever owned, and I have had a WRX, and a Merc and they too were great cars, but the Stinger kills them. I was lucky enough to get a gleaming black one with the light grey interior. They look stunning as well as sporty and also classy. Hopefully these will now become a collector car. I am seriously thinking of buying another car such as a Cerato GT, which I previously had, and preserving my Stinger for special occasions. Cheers from Oz

Im a Nissan 370Z owner and from Germany, i saw the Kia Stinger first time in 2017 at Geneva Auto Show and was so impressed by the beauty of this car and if i would need a 4 seater i would take the KIA Stinger! even today!! Kia shows that they are able to create beautiful and powerfull design language. even if you are slightly sad about the completion of production, what KIA is currently doing in EV's it gives me great forebodings for the future of the brand and the model Stinger!

@@CarSceneKorea it was/is perfection it's the perfect blend of performance, luxury and practicality. The g70 does not have a liftgate, adaptive suspension or good brakes. Additionally the ev6 gt you sacrifice all luxury and it costs 20k more than my stinger. This is just super sad to see I love the stinger I think it's a near perfect car it checks 99% of what I want in a vehicle. It's a damn shame. Pour one out for the best car made in the last decade+

This is not Kia's "best" car. It was their Halo car. Depending on what you define "best" to mean, the Stinger was succeeded in all ways by other models. For one, if "best" were to mean most equipped, then that would be debunked by the existence of the Kia K900 which was for sale in the USA with the same power plant as the Stinger. Nobody bought that car, so it was discontinued. It's also not Kia's best in material or technology quality, a trophy which would be handed to the K8 and now the redesigned K9 as well. In the U.S. market, while not exactly apples-to-apples in design, the Kia EV6 exists now and while being well within a $5K price difference from Stinger: will beat the Stinger in technology, factory 0-60 acceleration, ride quality, cargo capacity, and expected reliability. The Kia EV5 is in the works as well, which will be the Kia sedan alternative to the Hyundai IONIQ 6. Stinger fans, when the time comes to upgrade, may choose to wait / opt for that one rather than the EV6 "crossover." One thing to keep in mind is that as a business, winds need to change sometimes. The buying of sedans in general is a practice that's been on such a steep decline, that: •Ford stopped selling them in its own home country •Chevrolet is down to 1 remaining model •Buick, same as Ford, is gone in the USA at least •Nissan is discontinuing the Maxima •Kia has subtracted 2 sedans from the market entirely in a lot of countries (K8 and K9//Cadenza and K900) and the Stinger, which launched with 6 trim levels, by the time we reached 2022 model year was down to 2 trim levels. Nobody, statistically, is buying the car. So it can't make sense for Kia to keep making it.

I own a Stinger 19 model, it’s the best car I’ve owned to date, love it. Here in Australia it has a niche following and passionate supporters. I’m a member of a Stinger car club and we go on drives and meets. It’s awesome seeing a swarm of 26 beautiful Stingers in convoy, such a shame the model is at an end but hopefully they will keep their value 😊

Niche? I see stingers here in the ACT more often then Mustangs. They’re quite well sold cars here in Australia, probably better then anywhere else considering how much people say they’re rare to see.

@@willeh1947 that’s good, I live in Victoria, in a large regional town, here it is opposite. I see a Mustang daily but Stingers are rarer to be seen. There is a good handful in Geelong but I can go days/ weeks without spotting one.

Sure does take a dedication to hand pick Stinger from the basket indeed. I respect your choice as I also have purchased 2023 Veloster N DCT fully loaded with N Perf parts for around $39k. Those who see the car through a pricetag will never get the joy we do with our cars, so yay 😉

Such a great car. Unfortunately because of how competitive the segment is for the Stinger, people chose to buy something else for a similar price. You can argue it could be simply be because it's a Kia, but that doesn't takeaway the significance of engineering put into this vehicle. Great car.

Love the stinger, just was out of my price point. They are experiencing huge mark ups (55k plus). Went with a 2022 Elantra N, definitely a different car but love it.

I want one so bad! 400 to the U.S. will be tough to get and marked up. Do you think I should trade my VN DCT for it? Also, which do you think looks best: Tribute vs. Acro vs. Scorpion Edition? The only changes I wish they did was give this final edition a 20-30hp power boost, a fully digital gauge cluster, and real carbon fiber instead of black chrome on exterior. Do you know if all of these will be AWD or will some be RWD models?

Info on Korea and NA is the only thing I know for certain. There are a few hundred more except those markets, so why not! Australia is a big market for Kia, fingers crossed!

So sad will be discontinued.I would buy it for sure in Greece..

I have the 2022 AWD TT Scorpion edition. I may have traded it in for this if they had up the horses, at least to 400hp to really set it apart from all the other ones.

If this is to be the tribute car why still have hood vents that aren't functional and other features like that????? This should be top of the line feature model if it's to be the last one

why does nobody know a release date??

I'm really sad to see this car leave the lineup. I truly hope they replace it with something worthy- hopefully with every single point of criticism: addressed and corrected. To me the Stinger was Kia's most beautiful model but it was in a weird spot because it wasn't their most premium model even the year that it came out. Instead it sat 2 tiers beneath "flagship". Opting to be less premium than K9 and K8 (Cadenza). I'd love to see a sedan, electric or hybridized (if that's what it takes) fill the Stinger-sized hole in the lineup. Something with Stinger GT inspired purpose, but with the interior quality and materials of a K8 or better. They also NEED to iron out the assembly line or whatever the issue is, that caused so many of these cars to ship with rattles and creaking, in the hatch, in the sunroof, in the doorcards. It was in all different places for different peoples' cars. A lot of reviewers were not afraid to talk about this problem and that affects the shoppers aiding to this car's tragic sales numbers. A lot of people had to miss out on a car that definitely should've seen at least one more generation. Can't really fault it for anything else. Beautiful car. Fairly practical. Had a great story to tell at the pump and the mall, anywhere I took mine people wanted to know what it was! A successor just needs more power or a faster transmission. Get better fuel economy or go EV and that's it. I'd buy this car again even if it looked exactly the same but with those improvements.

What a message from a true Stinger fan and owner. Thanks for sharing.

I've got a 2022 Scorpion (for those who don't already know, Scorpion was the limited edition appearance package GT2 for 2022), and I came here to say that Kia are out of their freaking minds discontinuing this car; they have created a magnificent car in need of nothing more than a cold air intake to match the acceleration of the M340i and S4 (NO tune required), and that's on all-seasons, and to match the handling characteristics of the Germans, all you need is an ECS 10 controller from Mando to leverage proper performance suspension tunes. They have bungled the positioning of this car in America by refusing to allow rental fleets to get their hands on it as a premium rental offering (that's an important marketing tool, Kia!), by failing to require Kia dealers to keep at least one GT2 on hand as a demo, and by not forcing dealers to move their customer service practices upmarket (to be faaaaaaiiir.... my dealer treats me as well as GM dealers did when I was driving Corvettes, and as well as the Saab dealer did... when they still existed). My dealer is excellent. Kia failed to market and position the car well, they gave the car restrictor boxes for intakes which add .2-.3 seconds to the 0-60, the brake line to the ECU makes launch mode completely useless since you cannot brake boost the car unless you snip or disconnect that signal wire (or put a toggle switch inline with the brake switch ;) ), they made the "sport" mode suspension tune unreasonably soft so to the point where the wheels hop so much that it costs lateral acceleration (again, the Mando ECS 10 completely fixes this and the Mando sport mode inspires confidence, with BETTER dynamics and feedback than the M340i, which in its newest generation feels... sterile), and when they launched this car, they crippled the car in the USA, and they continue to cripple the car to this day by holding back features that you can get in the Genesis siblings (for example, the passenger seat inboard forward/back controls). It's also worth noting that when Kia introduced the Stinger, they boasted that they had the foresight to electrify the car in the future so they designed it with a hybrid drivetrain in mind. I want a performance hybrid version of the Stinger comparable to the M3 Competition. C'mon kia, keep your word and give us the electrified, performance-minded Stinger you boasted you designed the platform for! I'd buy a SECOND Stinger to keep my Scorpion company.

The server delivered very good service. Which is likely to see an improvement: 1. Leave no tip for server (server is screwed, basically worked for free. nothing changes. Customer is noted as being cheap.) 2. Customer tips server a small amount. (server is screwed, basically worked for free. nothing changes because no one gets any feedback. Customer is noted as being cheap.) 3. Customer tips standard amount but never returns to customer. (nothing changes because no one gets any feedback) 4. Customer tips server, but also gives feedback about what they didn't like about the dish, or about timing of dish. Follows up with review on yelp or whatever. ( Server happy, Management gets message, chef spoken to, changes made. ) Now, savvy companies do actually read comments on social media, on videos on youtube where there are lots of views or a good ratio of engagements. Do I, as a Kia customer and happy stinger owner who is unhappy the product received poor treatment by marketing but am very willing to pony up the dough for an M3-evel Stinger: 1. Simply buy the M3, even though I hate BMW's plasticky interior 2. Just buy the G70 when its redesign and hybrid or EV version comes out, even though I prefer to Stinger's styling. Kia changes nothing about how they do business, but wonder why they cannot reach enthusiasts 3. Post on social media hoping to catch Kia's attention, or at least make an impression adding to their word and phrase heatmaps if they're using AI to scrape social media engagments and interactions, they note the data, and take it into consideration and improve their approach with future products, and perhaps even reintroduce the Stinger as a high performance hybrid or high performance EV after a brief hiatus? Options 1 and 2 (stay quiet) accomplish nothing except to shrink the sport sedan/hot hatch market further through cancelation of one of the nicest products in its segment. And... you could have simply ignored my comment rather than providing your assholish snark.

Good afternoon! very interesting and detailed review, thanks! you don't know how you can buy 1 out of 1000 of these cars from Russia, since the dealership has stopped deliveries due to sanctions! for export, you can buy cars until 2022 and they can be delivered to Kazakhstan or Russia by private companies and individuals! Is it possible to buy this model for export? I would be grateful if you tell me how to do it! Thank you! I wish you success!

Thanks for the kind comment. I don't deal with exports, I have no clue about shipping these cars out the country.

They say the 2023 version is the last version of the stinger😭i hope that's a rumor

I have had 2 Stingers... My dealer has one of these coming in and they have asked me if I want it.. Would have liked to have seen a bigger engine, more carbon fiber, and new tech.. not sure I am sold on this.

Coming from an enthusiast who owned two Stingers. I sure did hope to see something more Tribute to Stinger on this model indeed.

They killed Stinger to make the sales of G70 stronger . BS, bad move. I will miss this car. I have the 2019 version and it is a great car.

1000 is still a lot, they only sold 25 units in the whole of South Africa 😂 people are too brand obsessed over here

Sportiest in the family though..? Stinger will be remembered.

If only they could have found a way to sell this car for a little less, it would have taken the world by storm. I became absolutely obssessed with this car for the greater part of a year and wanted it so badly but I just couldn't justify 55K CAD on a car that was a) unproven b) expensive to repair c)always at risk of being discontinued (further exacerbating b). Sad day....they genuinely had something really special here.

Not all that expensive to repair when compared to other vehicles with similar performance I'd say, but yeah, a) unproven part played a big role at the time of Stinger's debut.

A Stinger owner from Melbourne, Australia. I own a 2018 MY18 Stinger GT in Deep Chroma Blue, in just over a month I will have owned mine for 5 years, I'm sad to see Stinger being discontinued, would of loved to see a new body design, I will keep mine as it will become even rarer on Aussie roads once production ends.

Should have been available in coupe and manual option. Would be a modern day legend if Kia would have followed through with options enthusiasts crave. The enthusiasts spread word and give a car and company it’s reputation. Kia screwed up. Built an awesome machine like this then didn’t offer the coupe version or manual option enthusiasts want. The Kia Stinger could have should have overshadowed the BMW 340 and 440i. Could you imagine the stinger in a coupe manual??!!

Very true. Given Stinger being one of the first "performance vehicle" in the family with the fastest 0-60 time at the time of her debut, there's always a start, I guess. Alas.

Kai should sue the US car dealers, I knew a few people who wanted to buy one of these cars but the dealer mark ups were insane !

Do companies realize they are killing most of their enthusiasts? Which means, people like me, no one will be into cars anymore. This is ridiculous.

Everyone gather around for a car to be sad about being discontinued but they never bought it. It's getting canned because they want to much and the styling/ performance isn't there. I think I maybe have seen 3 stingers ever 1 of them was at the dealer

Why they didn't just make this the normal stinger...

There were fans of the Tiburon and they discontinued it instead of improving it. People loved the Genesis Coupe and they discontinued it. Car enthusiasts were blown away by the Kia Stinger and now they're discontinuing it. If Hyundai-Kia isn't the stupidest company at marketing and consistency I don't know what company is... their decision-making is erratic and a head-scratcher throughout the years... from the amazing new fluidic design of the 2011-2014 Sonata to the most boring and pathetic 2015 to 2022 Hyundai Sonata, same with Elantra and Optima. Well, at least the current Optima has a small redemption. Too early to go all in for electric cars, gas will still continue to exist...
