Right!! When this game came out back in 2013 my daughter was barely a year old and I mean I’ve always been a tear jerker in game and movies but when I played this it hit me like a bag of bricks in the gut! I couldn’t help but to hold my daughter , hugging her for a while because I can’t even imagine losing her, my world will crumble and be destroyed, I don’t think I’d be able to get over it but then again Joel never did either right.

I bought this at full price but I really enjoyed myself. Those who argue it isn’t worth it, I get it. But I think their intention was to rope in a whole new crowd with the HBO show. Besides, you can find it much cheaper now.

I still think it was totally worth it, barring the price. It needed a remake solely because of part 2. Playing remaster just feels off with the way how they realised the infected and their characters in P2 for those reasons alone i feel it was necessary. Even if the show wasnt coming out. I think we would still got this remake, just a little later than now.

So glad I got retraumatized in 4k in the beginning...

After getting over the price, this game fully delivered, revisiting part 1 after years and after playing part 2 felt like a full circle moment

these are great questions! the reality is i move on most of the time but since i really do enjoy playing them i try to finish my favorites. recently i finished High on Life and Spec Ops The Line! i’m still playing The Witcher 3 since they released the update 😁

Would love to see you play more of this to be honest.

I dig a lot of the remake scene as it is right now as well, it's just so damn cool to see a game we remember given this type of treatment. This also allows amazing games to blow our minds twice because it's initial release set a certain bar for quality at the time and then years later that same game somehow looks/plays/feels even better which can be a bit surreal at times. Good vid, somehow you play the shit out of games in a way that's always compelling to watch.

Its not a Remastered its a Remake. They work a lot for this Remake. So its okay. And i Support Naughty Dog, because its the last Game Producer that do Games with Love.

I've never played this game prior, but I bought a PS5 about 6 months ago and was playing on a non 4k tv. because of the ps5 purchase I upgraded my tv recently (7 year old samsung that still looks damn good) and bought a 2022 LG C2 77 inch tv. Between the remaster of this game which I bought last night and the LG OLED tv my mind was fucking blown. It's incredible how lifelike this game is..the mocap captured movements and Ai movements of the other characters is awesome. I'm only an hour into the game and loving it.

Can't wait to play this and the Dead Space remake. Loved them in '13 and '08, will love them more now.

Can't wait to play this on PC when it comes out in March.

That was me with The Witcher 3, combat was too boring early game for me. Eventually came back for the story

Played the ps4 version and loved the game so much. It was enjoyable to play the ps5 version too. Got hypnotized with the graphics. Incredible colors, details, storylines. I hope they remake part 2 🙏🏼❤️

Can’t wait to watch the TV adaptation of this. Going to watch it with my dad and it’s going to be his first time seeing the story.

Problem is it wont be the exact same story and a lot of how you become engrossed in this particular story is with the playing. You feel the hardship and the strife and therefore connect to the characters better. I don't think TV can stand up to videogames when it comes to the perfect balance that a game like TLOU 1&2 strikes between gameplay and story. It ups the ante quite significantly in player/viewer involvement and connection. It should still be a rollercoaster and an enjoyable one but I can't see it being more involving than the games.

my mom owns of the first generation Smart tvs that is way too big and just makes everything look awkward as hell. When i was playing the last of us 2 on it she mistook it for an actual movie and asked what i had done to finally make the tv look not terrible She was disappointed to find out the tv wasn’t fixed but she became of a fan ! It does more than suck really. Sadly, this has to do with "certain" groups pressing their "message" on us. Assassination of a character is just plain sad to see. They did a big disservice to Joel. To be honest, I hate the fact to see they wrote part one now on the cover to this game because I just mark that out. Personally, after the dumpster fire of character assassination of Joel in that so called sequel, I consider the Last of Us a stand-alone game. There is no sequel.

Do you think it is absolutely the way to play this story now? Or is the PS4 remaster still good enough for someone who is thinking about spending the $70?

i always think it would be kinda interesting to have a zombie game where u spend the entire game killing every zombie on the map and then at the end someone says they found a cure that can turn zombies back to human and u have to live with the consequences of how many zombies u killed.. like the game gave you multiple options.. stealth and avoiding them... or killing them etc etc.. and the end of the game shows the consequences of ur actions.. families being reunited or not etc - if it were me making the game for example id make every zombie unique... a unique person that can become a human at the end of the game.. dressed differently, different face & personality and relationships etc.. every time you proceed thru the game the more zombies u left alive the harder the game gets cos u can have more chance of zombies that u left alive previously from being in the new areas... zombie numbers keep increasing.. maybe more survivors have become zombies.. so thru the whole game it SEEMS like u have taken the bad choice by leaving zombies alive.. but at the end it turns out to be the good choice because u can now go around curing them.. u cant cure a hole in the head

Legit all I could think of while playing TLOU2 was how amazing the first game would look with the new graphics so when this was announced I nearly fainted. I obviously paid full price for it but i understand all the backlash, definitely should of been wayyyyyy cheaper.

I remember my friend telling me about this game in 2011-2012 and then watching frankieonpcin1080p play it and I was mesmerized at everything, I knew this was going to be a timeless classic. Then a ps4 remaster came in july 2014, and then rumors of a second game started emerging and a teaser in 2016 came out and then 4 years later the second game came out and basically I'm pretending part II isn't canon(we don't have to get into all of that), and THEN a LoU show is coming out? Crazy- And another remake of the FIRST game released and it's been almost a decade since the initial release? Wild - and its quite something growing up 15-25 years old and following this game that left such an impact on millions of people and Sony is going to milk their cash cow for all its worth,

It looks and plays exquisitely good, I'm done and platinumed the PS3, PS4, and now the PS5 version and I'm still in awe of KZread shorts I run into of playthroughs, so many ways to play this game, stealth, aggressive, baiting etc. Well done Naughty Dog, can't wait for part three and their next big IP!!

I think the remake is cool but 1. there is no factions multiplayer and 2. it shouldnt be priced at $70 when its been released twice and already remastered on ps4 with multiplayer that was $50 back then. Just seems like sony is being greedy because people really like this franchise and they want to milk it for all its worth.
