i will still never get why people were so angry at the fact she was a lesbian. ellie and dinas screen time was more about them teaming up against the world rather on the fact that they were in a lesbian relationship. romance is a big aspect of everyones life, no matter what your sexuality is, and it was cool to see the romantic aspects from ellie and abby, because it reminds us that they're still human, no matter who they choose to love

Ellie was lesbian from the beginning the fans don’t care about that fans were mad because of awful story telling. The story was good I’m paper but the way they told and they didn’t even justify few characters and Abby was a waste cause she didn’t get any sympathy which they tried to force on us 🤨

2021 when I said I don’t care about the internets opinion and finally played this game, it was the single most incredible gameplay experiences I’ve ever had. There’s not one thing that I didn’t like in this game

Static Alphabet soup that’s just a really small minority. It’s literally 2020 most don’t give a f whether the character is lgbt or a girl. What we care is if those relationships are unorganic(same applies for those generic action movies with a girl and boy lead) or if a character is strong purely because they’re a female. If the character is compelling and the story is written well, anyone would love it regardless of a boy or girl. Lots of examples of this like Wonder Woman, ahsoka, and manny other female leads. I’m not hating on u just wanted to vent on those ignorant defenders of the game

Funny people accuse Naughty Dogs of SJW (even if they are) by putting a gay kiss between Ellie and that chick. When it has been confirmed since years that Ellie was and is a lesbian. That kiss she got is to show how good things can still happen to her because it was made sure she is all about revenge. I do hate SJW BS in games, movies, etc but with this game, there is non of that and all this is logical

The weird thing about all of this is that I do not oppose the idea in any way. Just look at the dlc for tlou 1, it was confirmed a long time ago that she was a lesbian, and look how many people that made happy. The problem lies in the way it was presented- it starts off immediately with buildup to the kiss and then ends with it all in the same. As if to say “Hey! Look! This character is gay!” I’m completely fine with her as a character and/or her own sexuality, but I do think they could’ve taken a better step in portraying the idea without making it seem like it’s the only force driving the story. From a perspective of a writer, I’d imagine that if you were to mention it in there, but not carry it out through the entire trailer, that’d be great. It all depends on what you cater to the audience and how you present it. One idea can be showcased in a myriad of different ways, and you have to find the one that best suits your target audience and demographic.

I dont get why ellie being gay is "SJW Propoganda" that I keep seeing tossed around....until when can gay characters in games not be considered "pandering"? ffs Anyways, really looking forward to this ! I really hope Joel is still alive....

Techstorian OW Why should gay characters only be allowed to exist in stories explicitly about sexuality? There aren’t even many of those. Romance is one of the most common themes in any story, especially in ones about growing up and coming of age.

Techstorian OW You're just saying bullshit lol. Gay people exist in the real world and the video game world,get over it. Ellie was confirmed gay before sjw pleasing was a thing in video games. Its just something they decided to do. Ya know,her sexuality was hinted at in the main story when she saw naked men for the first time. Romance is used in stories to develop characters and relationships. That is important when it comes to story telling. They arent even making her sexuality a big deal, she just so happens to be gay and they arent forcing it down your throat just because romance is shown LOL.

well it was obvious that they selected that scene 2 say HEY WE ARE OPEN MINED DUDES..... SO BUY OUR GAME lol it felt out of place and forced it would have been better to discover this by ourselves playing it not in the reveal specially cuz there is a toxic mood with real SJW agendas and Super Toxic Anty everything that might or not might be SJWs influence, what do u thinlk?

Thats not the problem Techstorian OW. TLOU tells stories about people. We know Joel had a family but the zombie apokalypse destroyed it. After that it was just about survival. He never trusted anyone fully and didn't want to bond with anyone (Ellie in particular). But he became a father figure to Ellie it just happened. So he protects her, tells some stories about the past, is teaching her things and finally...trusts her. At first he was cold/ detached, just wanted to complete the mission and later on bonded with Ellie. Romance wasn't important for him at this point, just survive and protect Ellie. Now Ellie's story. She was born into the zombie apokalypse and doesn't know anything else as to live in constant fear(had to grow up fast). Ellie also lost her family and another person she deeply cared about. In the dlc she realized that there were deeper feelings for Riley after Riley decided not to go. In Ellie's head it was like "omg thank you. I really didn't want you to leave...again." But you know what happened then. Ellie also became cold/ detached but later on bonded with Joel. Few years later (this trailer) they seem to be in a safe place and can live a somewhat normal life (?). Ellie is still young (so romance can play an important role) and this scenario allows a bit normalcy for her which she experiences for the first time: a normal dance (party?) and in her case a bit fear because people are staring at them (literally no one would care if it was a guy [ingame and in the gamer community]). She is >just a girl (not a threat) And that's a part of her story/ character development ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ So the problem is that people don't understand the human brain and feelings/ emotions. Every person is unique and not a political statement. Other than that, I'm excited to learn more about Ellie (and Joel) and want to know her plan for revenge (and why)! (I hope my point came across and I didn't ramble to much. Sorry for any spelling mistakes)

I imagine how the actors were feeling when they shot the cutscene XD

To those who see LOU 2 a trash when Ellie kissed a girl or didn't even know the story plot first: DIDN'T YOU ALL SEE THE LEFT BEHIND DLC??! isnt it obvious that she kissed Riley? duhh people!! I don't fcking care if she is lesbian or not! as long as the game and the story plot matter!!! and Joel too!
