I really like these two, and the development of their relationship. This has probably been done before, but have a video showcasing some of their best moments. Enjoy.

@@oasis6342 It would take years if not decades of research to make a vaccine. And how exactly are the fireflies going to mass produce it? How are they going to distribute it? They are basically in shambles at that point to the extent a one man rampage caused them to more or less completely collapse so they probably would have been wiped out before they got anywhere.

The characterisation in this game is rock solid. It's understandable why Joel is initially cold to Ellie, the loss of his daughter, 20 years of trying to survive and fighting on both sides as he put it. He's emotionally bottled up because he has to be to survive, he dare not let himself get attached to anyone, but the journey him and Ellie go on changes all that. The scene where they're walking amongst the ruined coaches on a flyover after Ellie has escaped David, she's very distant and not with it. She had to grow up quick in this world, but after all she has been through her childhood innocence has been lost. These subtle moments are what make The Last of Us amongst the greatest games ever.

My way of coping is that all the events happen after ellie smokes weed so i think all of it is not real.
My favourite line in the game has to be, "We don't have to do this. You know that right?" At that point, it was clear that Joel saw Ellie as a daughter and that he wasn't gonna abandon her at all costs. He was willing to give up the creation of a vaccine just for Ellie. Other than the ending, that scene is probably the one that stuck with me the most.

The entire scene with the fireflies feels very different with perspective. Two things I note immediately - 1) Joel was maybe more ruthless than he had to be. Maybe they'd have come after her and maybe not. I feel he might have gone too far; 2) The entire hike back to the settlement afterwards, you can feel the discomfort he's feeling - he's talking more than he used to. He's taken a decision, and he's clearly not second guessing it, but he feels the weight of what he's done.

Seeing the part where joel was running away with ellie in his arms makes me want to cry so bad...
i love them 🥺
if joel were to let the fireflies take ellie and find a cure, he wouldnt be able to live with himself,Ellie gave him a reason to keep on living, shes the daughter he got to save, and everybody deserves a second chance. Joel went from Father,to Scavenger survivor and with ellie he got a a piece of him that died with Sarah back. I dont think we will see writing this poetic and perfect in a video game for years to come
A character that I don't see so much people talking about is MArlene. What impresses me so much about Marlene is that she knew Ellie's mother, Anna, and took care of her much longer than Joel, but she didn't mind leaving her with smugglers, and she was willing to sacrifice her life even when they weren't sure the cure would work. Apparently, all "For the good of humanity", but much more for everything she went through and all her bad experiences. In conclusion, a great character, with a lot of personality and humanity.
Looking at this now..I just wanna cry..rip Joel and ellie

I don’t think Joel and Ellie ever would have drifted apart if he had just told a better lie. He could’ve said that a whole pack of older infected stormed the hospital and overwhelmed the Fireflies, killing the doctors that were going to make a vaccine. Joel had to hurry into the room to get Ellie and escape before it was too late. That would explain the tape that Ellie finds there in TLOU2 that says the only doctors who could make a vaccine are dead. Then maybe she never would have forced Joel to tell her the truth, and she never would have pushed him away! Then, if he had still died because of Abby, at least he would have still been as close to Ellie as ever.

you know if you run towards the soldiers (which i did accidentally) when you've got ellie at the end, they start taking her off him and he starts yelling and it's really sad and emotional and then he dies 😬
4:45 and the scene around it is such a relatable moment. It reminds me of when I was a kid and my own dad giving me instructions on how to do something serious or crucial and the nerve-wracking attention I'd feel because I wanted to get it right. 12:42 This segment was better than most movie climaxes. I remember the depression I felt when he falls down the horse.
Joel is a terrible person but I can’t blame him because after his daughter died I assume he told himself that he would never be attached to someone like he was attached to his daughter and he made an exception one time and he knew that their relationship would end the same way and he would probably blame himself for Ellie’s death if he didn’t do something so he let his emotions take control and he felt like it was his responsibility to keep Ellie safe and letting the surgery happen would be him not even trying to keep her safe.

Still bringin me tears..
Gosh i miss them so much😭😭😭😭😭
Is your name Xbox 360 ironically
I didn’t hate TLOU2 but I gotta admit the story didn’t feel the same without Joel.
i can’t wait to see the car scene in the show it’s gonna be hilarious and ellie interacting with bill 😂
I just came back because of you know what...
Last of us 1 was one story.joel and eille moved back, eillie found the truth but forgave him later and lived in jackson. They all lived happily ever after. Part 2 was just bad fanfiction

Honestly personally I think she knows he's lying. She's always been able to call him out on his bullshit before. I think she is choosing to let him protect her and to just... be okay with things being that way. Maybe they struggle a bit - I like to think she punches him at least once - but I don't think Ellie has ever had someone choose her. She's just a kid. No one ever should have asked her to die for the world - not that they asked.
The ending gets me every time
If god gave me one more chance to do it,I’d do it all over again without a doubt-Joel
Had to come watch this after watching the cutscenes from the sequel. It’s just so disappointing what they did. First game will always be one of my favorite games of all time.
Joel bein like that's BeFoRe My TiME proceeds to say that it's great my boi a legend
as much as i mentally tried to forget about how they finished off joel in tlou2...i just cant forget on how painful it was to watch everything unfold, i just wish there never was a 2nd at this point.

Treat it like the 3rd Mummy movie. Doesn't exist.
Okay, how many times have I cried at this ?? Like 5 times-
You know you are in peace, when you don’t even remember about second part existence.

I just want to relax here after playing part 2
Miss Ellie and Joel moments. I hate naughty dog for messing it all up
Good old days before Neil Druckmann attacked.

@Mr Toxic He had someone holding him back (forgot the guy's name. I remember an interview where the guy told Neil that a revenge game in a post apocalyptic setting wouldn't fly). In TLOU2? Neil's top dog. Everyone is below him, no one is in the position to reign him in.
This is so unfair for ellie. I mean she lost joel, she lost dina and her child, she even lost a finger and let abby get away with it. This is why i prefer tlou 1 to relive all the memories of ellie and joel. I miss them 😢💖

She didn't lose dina!! I mean yes at first, but she got her bracelet back when she returns to the farm, so i like to believe she returned to jackson and they saw each other again. It also explains why she has no weapons at the end. :)
