Wow! No doubt, best ironhead in the world for sale right now. Stunning
What an excellent colour match & finish on that tank 👏
Absolutely priceless, I wouldn't be suprised if Jay Leno ended up with this masterpiece🏆❤️

What a beauty
Absolutely love it! The 79’s and 80’s roadsters will always have a spot in my soul. There’s just something about em that is unique from the rest. Also can I just say the audio engineering on this video is top notch. Listening on my AirPods and it sounds literally like I’m right there in the video with you haha. Thanks for the content!
You just keep presenting these wonderful motorcycles to us Ken. We are blessed with your skills to preserve these exceptional master pieces. Cheers

Amazing motorcycle....ironhead sally and her old man would love to have that...!!!
Wow just wow. Breathtaking. I understand now why some people don't ride their bikes. That bike needs to be in a collection or a museum. Harley Davidson should have a good luck at that bike because something that beautiful should persuade them to have another run at them. I hope whoever buys this bike looks into how to best preserve it so someone else can do another video on her in another 50 years.
Can't wait to visit the museum.Great stuff.Thanks Ken.👍
I love the sporsters .😀
Priceless motorcycle!!!!
Me & friends had a 74,me a 75 & other a 76,friend with 74 had his long b4 us & painted it with flames, both were faster than mine ,I bought adjustable HD main jet with tap ,drag pipes,I smoothed the intake replaced air cleaner adjusted & shimmed valves & cam with timing,my bike blew the other 2 away, not even close, raced a gs1000 on the hiway & beat him,he said it was fast, now I have a busa & a14r, back then I lusted for a sportster, had posters in my room BUT gotta say this model u have is the nicest they had still like to get this model, my friends still have the 74 & 76 collecting dust, I traded mine in at the dealer long ago when I seen an yamaha xs1100 that I really liked(looked like this sportster)when I went in for a part ,test drove it & it rode so smooth & felt faster ,gave them 500 & the sportster
Simply Beautiful! If I had the money, I would buy it and ride the hell out of it!!
It hasn't even started leaking yet😃😃👍🏻 better than new!!🤣🤣
I had that exact bike minus the exhaust I had drag pipes on mine. Gave me a lot of problems with keeping the battery charged. Not a great bike but it holds a special place in my heart because it was my first. I had Dunlop tires on mine.
This one good looking HD!

I have the original siamese pipes on my '79. They look great and gain a bit of power, but the H-D guys of the time hated them- Way too quiet! Most dumped the original mufflers for drag pipes to drown out the Ironhead cam gear chatter.
Good stuff KAP 🫡 Pat from Canada 🇨🇦

Thanks for sharing-definitely one nice sporty.
I grew up with sportsters. One of my friends had a brand new roadster it was Beautiful bike. I had a 1967 XLH SPORTSTER
Hi l bought the exact bike, new here in.England in 1980
Nope, nobody's going to duplicate this action . Thanks Ken . :)
Hey Ken I hope you do very well with it .
I think the last time I saw one of these things was in a advertisement in a Hot Rod magazine in 79 😊
I took one for a spin about 5 years ago for 4ooo but my dad talked me out of buying it as the generator was known to burn out many times, I think this bike is up there with the xlcr and the sturgis absolutely gorgeous
Yes absolutely your paint job is better than what came from the factory. AMF could paint a bowling pin but they made horrendous motorcycles in the 70’s. What a cool story about this guy buying all of his toys and surrounding himself with them like his family. However, it’s Rather strange to buy all of your favorite toys and then hardly use them for the rest of your life. Life is short, you need to ride your motorcycles and drive your cars💪👍!
Nice! Got home from work and my neighbor hurt his shoulder he asked if I could take his Harley for a ride he doesn’t want it sitting. I thought what would Kaplan do.. I said Hell Yeah and grabbed my helmet! 💪

Those exhaust systems made good power. Just get the jetting right and leave it alone. Beautiful
I had a roadster like that but had a super glide tank. Same colors. I put 50 thousand on it before I got drunk and wrecked it !
I had this bike in 1979.Although in the UK it was called the XL1000 Roadster and it had a longer tank and a different seat but i n the colours
I don't even like Sportsters but dang that's a fine looking bike, the pipes and bars and color combo kick ass cool!
That is gorgeous 😍
My first bike as an enlisted Marine. It was all I could afford at the time. It was a fun fast bike. Beautiful machine now.
I had one back in the day, all I had was a full face helmet at the time, people would call me, A helmet and two fenders at the bar, said that's all you could see when I was going down the road, I don't care who you are" that's funny right there.
Love the bike! Where can i buy that Shirt? Didn't see it on the website under Kaplan Merch..
I know people today who have brand new Harleys in their living rooms as decorations. I didn't know anyone did that sort of thing in the AMF days! Just about any Ironhead you come across today was owned by a tweaker at some point in its life.
Incredible bike! I have a '79 XLS that is EXACTLY like this one. Siamese exhaust, original air box, rear leather bag, etc.Mine has 27k miles on it though. Lol
Had the 1974 iron head that thing leaked oil everywhere!
Those Siamese pipes are next to hen teeth to find.

Had an 81 xls with the (in my opinion more stylish/practical) larger tank...one of my regrets letting her go.
I bought an XLS new from Eastern Harley Davidson in 1979. I can't remember what I paid for it. But I don't think it it was more than 2800? However, it was an AMF. and it really had issues.
My dad put those tires on his H2.
Nice bike btw is Thomas yer brother? 😅🇺🇸✌🏽

@@sonnyseabury4051 your welcome, l just built a 78 sportster ironhead searched for a long time to find the ironhead engine, there pretty much bullet proof.
That lope is due to the low compression rate of 8,5 : 1 and the duration of the stock cam. It sounds very nice , ....but it has only 60 HP . As soon as you should upgrade the engine with an aftermarket cam ( EV23 or EV27 ) ,....that nice lope-sound has gone ! ( but your bike will be more faster and pulls harder )
How does Ken make every Harley look small except Sportsters?

Ironheads are like the playboy models of the motorcycle world. Great to look at, and fun to ride when they were new and not beaten on.. However, in the long run, as they age and get temperamental, the cost of their high maintenance upkeep makes them almost not worth it. That being said.. i still love them ❤
@MarkPalmer1000
11 ай бұрын
Agreed. I love my Ironhead, but they are definitely a mechanic's bike if you want to own one. Parts are cheap and plentiful, but if you can't do the work yourself they aren't worth it.
I'll buy it!
It's rare that is actually a survivor but never wrecked.
I bought a brand new sportster in 1980. I still have the 1980 model catalogue and the roadster model is in it for 1980?
Moon rock status… 😍🌙 🪨
I have a 79 xlh with 1600 miles
Break her in do a burnout!
Well I have a 1997 heritage softail with 2000 original miles, show room condition unmolested , know what your saying.
🤤
So, if those are the original tires, i think my 12 year old tires with less than 25 miles on them, stored inside, are probably safe to ride on. Also, looking at the paint scheme, i feel my 77 has original paint, altho it doesnt look that good. I also know where a siamese pipe/header for about 200$ maybe i should buy it?
Be still my beating heart...
How nice do the original pipes sound against todays strangled equivalent
