Actually, they can hit stuff pretty well. In A New Hope not hitting our heroes was intentional, so they would reveal their secret base. Look at how they destroyed the Rebels on Hoth, they sure landed a lot of hits there. Or if you also count the First Order stormtroopers, how they destroyed that village on Jakku. Somebody is probably gonna say, that if they were so good, how could the Ewoks defeat them? That was guerilla warfare, consisting mostly of surprise attacks and tolerating heavy losses on the Ewok's side, similar to Vietnam. Everyone expected the superior firepower to win, but they didn't
