It's crazy that people are watching this movie now. We had rising action star Bruce Willis and In Living Color veteran Damon Wayans in an early 90s underrated action film with an unknown Halle Berry.

I mean, while technically this is a 90s movie and there are some little 90s things that are starting to appear here and there, this is still more of an 80s film to me, the same way that the early 80s were still very much the 70s, film and tv wise.

Damon Wayans was really surprisingly good in this one. Great chemistry with Bruce. The movie never gets boring and probably has more fun one-liners than any Arnold movie. It was quite overlooked back then. But I think it's one of Bruce's great ones. Also a lot of then unknown and upcoming actors/actresses (Halle Berry, Danielle Harris, Eddie Griffin and even James Gandolfini).

The late, great Tony Scott at the helm. Shane Black as the hottest screenwriter on the scene at the time. A buddy action flick that could stand Toe to Toe with the other classics. Willis is perfectly casted as an hero despite himself. One of BW's first jobs before acting was at a private investigation firm. No doubt that his work at that job, played a part in helping this role and also in the Die Hard films. Wayans doing his first blockbuster feature after 'In Living Colour' fame. Halle Berry after her debut in Jungle Fever, same year. Martial Arts legend Billy Blanks (football player Billy Cole) in his film debut and in the most unexpected moment of the film. The one-liners are undenialble. Action scenes are off the charts. Willis & Wayans were an unlikely pair (it still worked). It's all over the place with enough time to keep up with it. Btw, the movie that Joe's daughter is watching on tv was Lethal Weapon.

I remember when this movie was on Pay Per View as a kid. My parents rented it about ten times. Bruce Willis, Damon Wayans, and Danielle Harris were such an unlikely combination but pure comedic gold.

    1. Loved this movie. Too bad they couldn't have made a follow-up. It's because the production of this was so chaotic. In a New Yorker profile, Joel Silver said that the making of this film was "one of the three worst experiences of his life." Tony Scott also spoke about how miserable production was, largely because Silver and Bruce Willis took over the production, altered parts of Shane Black's script, and made him shoot scenes he hated under threat of being fired and having to forfeit his salary. 2. Mike/Bruce McGill 44 years and pounds ago played "D-Day" in "Animal House" 3. Darian/Danielle Harris played in "Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead" and you should see her now. OUCH😍💕 4. Aside from the end of "Raiders of the Lost Ark" this has the best bad guy goes down death with the helicopter stunt. 5. Missing you Bruce.😰

Another great Bruce Willis action flick is Last Man Standing. Doesn't have the humor, but it does have Christopher Walken. Definitely worth a watch.

My cousin is one of the main villains in this. The guy who opens the briefcase and blows up at the very end. I wish I'd known he was an actor while he was still alive. I remember my grandmother always talking about "Cousin Noble" but I didn't know it was this guy. He died in 2004. Only memory I have of him is from a family reunion in Quitman Texas in the 80s. I was a little kid and I remember him helping me fix my plate of food lol. I love this movie and The Howling which he's also in. Sad I never got to actually talk to him about them when I was older..

Shane Black keeps remaking the same buddy cop movie (Lethal Weapon, The Last Boy Scout, Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, and The Good Guys) over and over, but each one is awesome and unique… sign of true talent.

Arguably Willis' best role & film outside the DIE HARD franchise. Zero fucks given and channeling his inner Bogart he makes it look effortless at being both self-loathing and undeniably cool. Lots of fun and packed with action - another Shane Black Christmas set joint (now you need to see his KISS KISS BANG BANG & THE NICE GUYS). I'm so glad you FINALLY got to this and knew you'd both love it!
