There were a few reasons. I’m not an English teacher, but first and foremost, it’s one of the final fights. One of the main two plot lines throughout the entire series was Ang and Zuko, so this was the finale to Zuko. On the other just as notable hand, it’s literally brother vs sister. Not some dark side light side thing, not a hero vs villain (even though it was, that wasn’t the main focus). It was family going head to head for the one thing they’ve wanted all of their lives. Finally, the music is still sad, but more aggressive when Zuko gets shot because Katara doesn’t have as much connection to Asula, but Zuko does and he’s watching the whole thing. He sacrificed himself to save someone else and now it’s entirely out of his hands.
