Very good vid. I like that you go to many different types of areas. All the China news I follow here is economic news. It's not painting a pretty picture.

Loved the tour. I would not call the area slums. More of the old part of the city and I do find it very interesting to see. I did notice bars over alot of the windows and some security cams along the way. So some one is watching.

yes he uses 'slum' a lot and I guess it's one person's interpretation. Shapingba is modern and a great place many tech industries there - the back streets look a bit run down but the people are very friendly. The bars on windows are normal over most of china and doesn indicate that it's unsafe or anything same with cctv.

Shi de wo zhidao. It's a good video but I think the interpretation might confuse people out side of CN. Xi Zhang is another of your accounts? 🙂

No big deal, you can also find many slum cities in all the state in USA where homeless people live in tents ⛺️ on the sidewalks, in Philippines (especially in Metro Manila), Japan (especially in Osaka), in Hong Kong (at the old Kowloon districts of Sham Shui Po, Kwun Tong and Tai Kok Tsui)

I am not surprised because I lived there before I left China. Before 1980s under Mao’s rule, the whole country was in extreme poverty: 80% people( 800 million) lived in rural area and 20%(200 million) lived in cities and towns. Among these city-and-town people 70% lived in these kind of houses. Only government officials and workers of state-owned big factories had a little better houses. I don’t understand why someone would miss Mao, whose cruel rule led to the country’s ruin.

This ain't a slum.. go to actual less developed countries where no paved roads, electricity or sense of law and order exists. Just seeing Audis, power lines and clean tables should hint to you that this isn't a slum
