In 12 games in Nov this year, Lamelo averaged 27 PPG, at 47/42/87 splits with 8 assist, 5 rebounds and 2 steals. The talent is so obviously there but if you can't be available it doesn't matter. He should really find a way to make a Zion type resurgence next year

I was going to say that with the way LaMelo and his brothers specifically were brought up, specializing from such a young age, and it makes them more susceptible to basketball related injuries. Considering how much high-intensity basketball he's already played, it doesn't look promising. We'll see, and well said.

They honestly need to just hope Lamelo gets past the injury issues and is healthy moving forward. They can't cut their losses now because no one is going to trade for that max deal for Lamelo. They have to hope that a healthy Lamelo and Brandon Miller is their nucleus of the present and future. There is no realistic option for them besides that in the short term.

Ant has KAT, Gobert, Conley, Naz Reid, Jaden Mcdaniels etc. The hornets are one of the worst run franchises in the league, with a terrible coach as well. Lamelo’s biggest issue is health. If he can stay healthy, and Brandon Miller continues to develop, then we can actually make a fair comparison.

  • @joshuaarawole8589

@@BrianGonsr Those players are still significantly better than the players Lamelo has around him. KAT is an all star calibre player, Gobert is a multiple time DPOY, Conley is a seasoned vet, McDaniels is a good 3 and D player, and Naz Reid is the best back up center in the NBA. The Timberwolves also have a better head coach and front office. Anthony Edwards is amazing, but I personally think if Lamelo can stay healthy, and the Hornets can actually surround him with a good nba roster, then comparisons can definitely be made.

I feel like if this team can stay healthy then this squad can be deadly if they can attract a couple more pieces in FA. They also got underrated guys like grant will, tre Mann off the bench, etc. Stop sleeping on this franchise. they are definitely on the come up ⬆️

1st they need a TRUE healthy Star that gives them 65-70 games every year. MAYBE Lamelo can be that, but only if he can stay healthy consistently. Havent seen that yet. 2nd the same is basically true for Williams. Will he be the next Timelord? IF the young core can play together and stay healthy for a year or two, not one month per season, then we can talk about the ceiling of the young core.

This points to the luck involved in success/failure in the NBA. LaMelo was the future, but his health has sidetracked that all the while the progression to having a big contract has put his team in a bind. This has happened to quite a few teams, and it is not really an indictment of the player or the management. It just is what it is. People want to condemn and point fingers at someone, but there really is no one to blame.

Remember before Lonzo enter the draft, when quite a lot including me question about the fact that Ball brothers trained mainly on cement court? And there are tons of people got triggered, you disrespect them, they have real talent, blah blah. It's not really about Lavar coaching them himself, Lavar is a good father, annoying but did his fatherly duty great, and it's not like AAU is better at coaching. Playing on cement is different than playing on wooden floor, cement gathers dust way more than floor or even asphalt, you develop different approach to how you position your feet and how you push body off ground, a compensation by your body if you will, you run and jump differently, that can't be good. And now, both Lonzo and Lamelo constantly got hurt to their lower body, Lonzo is prbly done about to retire, the second one whatshisname is not good enough to be in NBA but certainly will have the same problem if he did, this is either one of many reasons, or the sole reason, may this be a caution or warning.

The Ball brothers are very unlucky. I still have hopes for Lamelo to come back, if his injury is weak ankle, then he better go and talk to Steph about it. And for Lonzo, he was just starting to play his best, great defender, he could pass very well, and he just started to improve his three point shooting. He might not be a no 1 option but he is what every team wants and need.

Agreed. Some body's are just not built for the grind of pro sports. How many great talents came in over the years and their bodys just couldt take the burden and stress that Basketball puts on them. Penny Hardaway, Brandon Roy, Jamal Mashburn, Fat Lever, Derrick Rose... just to name a view non Bigs... I think the Ball Brothers have the same problems. Their bodys just cant take the pressure for a consistent longer time.

Curry had one injury riddled season early in his career. He played 80, 74, 23, 78, 78 games over his first 5 seasons. So 2, 8, 59, 4, 4 games missed. Lamelo so far missed 21 games, 7, 46, 53 and counting. Curry missed 73 games in his first 4 seasons overall. Lamelo so far 127, probably 134 if the season is over. Thats a bit different, dont you think?
