Am I overthinking it that this should be considered tampering. If LA wanted to guarantee him take him at 17. They drafted Knecht at 17 knowing Rich Paul was telling every other team that if they take him then he's going to Australia. So the Lakers could operate knowing its guaranteed they're the only team that can draft him.

I feel like the main thing from this which no one is talking about is that it’s a good thing he’s not a #1 pick or potential all NBA / MVP player.. Like even his biggest haters know his ceiling & that he’s not going to be great or expected to be. That’s huge. I couldn’t even imagine the next 10-15 years if he was to be a star: Would be lebron hate & expectations all over again.

Now do a Lakers Realistic rebuild

The problem is not lebron wanting his son get drafted by lakers. It is the willingness of the ownership to actually give in to a players power move. Pretty much a clear indication of who actually runs the lakers. The late jerry buss would never let this happen. A once proud franchise is now turned into a glorified AAU team owned by klutch sports. Jennie Buss getting run over easily by a 40 year old player who only brought 1 ring, 3 playins and a token banner in his stint so far. And btw, MJ didnt use his status to have his sons play in the league.
