The ladies are thrilled when they secure some new design work, but everything is not as it seems!
From Season 1 Episode 14 ‘Monette’. Monette (an old schoolmate of Charlene’s) has purchased Chadwick mansion and asks Sugarbaker's to redecorate. At first, the women are excited about the lucrative job, but the assignment is not what they expected.

About Designing Women:
Ambitious Julia Sugarbaker and her sister, diva-like ex-beauty queen Suzanne, decide to open their own design firm. They are aided by close friends Mary Jo and Charlene. Also on hand is ex-con Anthony who provides the women with some moving muscle and his often unsolicited male opinion.

They didn't show the best part- they found out just what profession Monica was in. Hint: it's the world's oldest. ;)

Oh wow I remember this show from reruns as a kid.... I never realized how many sitcoms there were in the 80s about well off middle aged single white women

Three of the four were in their early to mid thirties. Only Julia was over 40. But now, as I write this, I realize you saw these women from a kid's perception of age. Heck, at age 10 I thought 25 was old, at 25 ....40 was old. Now, old age has three digits.

This is when I really couldn’t stand Julia. Always on her high horse, but she was born into a privileged rich girl life. The writers made her too harsh with little empathy.
