The Kinks were an English rock band formed in London in 1963 by brothers Ray and Dave Davies. They are regarded as one of the most influential rock bands of the 1960s. The Kinks' music drew from a wide range of influences, including American R&B and rock and roll initially and later adopting British music hall, folk, and country. The band gained a reputation for reflecting English culture and lifestyle, fuelled by Ray Davies' wittily observational writing style. The Kinks and the songs of Ray Davies are now rightfully established as a great British institution. From the opening riff of You Really Got Me, The Kinks’ influence as pioneers in heavy metal, power pop, conceptual albums, and theatrical shows can be detected in much modern music.
This, and much more, can be seen on this KZread channel exclusively devoted to these true British originals.

I was a senior and saw that tour at the kiel Opera House in St Louis and we were front row because of our friend who was blind and Ray Davies came over and said "look everybody the cool section" pointing out my friend who happened to be the only one sitting so he showed Davies his walking stick and Ray pretended to shoot himself in the head and came over and apologized and shook my friends hand my friend was blown away and so were we fucking awesome
Just because u say you're not paranoid, doesn't mean people aren't out to get you!!
An amazing party song. Who wouldn't dance to this.

Perspective? Einstein and Sherlock Holmes.
The vocals and guitar here sound so much like an early punk rock song. The vocals especially remind me of Johnny Rotten

Which The Doors, in 1968, unconsciously plagiarized from The Kinks' "All Day And All Of The Night" (1964).😂 kzread.info/dash/bejne/mIN7r7Sne8-bk9I.htmlsi=2OcVJ76pjfzux5jK Here, in "Destroyer", Ray Davies is referencing his own musical compositions of "All Day ..." and "Lola". GSTK!

Takes me back to when I was cheerleader in the Ozarks selling heroin out the back of my purple flamed GTO, writing letters to Congress pleading with them to renounce the latest stupid metric adoption attempt, mustering up the courage to appear on the Mike Douglas Show, leaving Queensland for Ft. Lauderdale, kissing Frenchie tongue tied eating a Big Mac, lambasting the Pretorians and anyone of their ilk, saving enough milk bottles to afford that mail order bride from Scotland(she was technically Welsh), committing to the deed but lamenting its consequence, ironing the shirt before taking it out of the drawer, feigning interest while provoking radical non-partisan agreements, drinking the dish water while firing up the furnace, flushing the toilet and expecting everything to change for the better because I just flushed the toilet and finally.... Making sense of it all while not giving a fick. - A. Simpleton
