I knew nothing of Chalamet going into this but after viewing, that kid has incredible screen presence, legit star power and the potential to be one of the greats. Bring on Dune.

You should see him as a teenage drug addict in ‘Beautiful Boy’. It’s INCREDIBLE. He had a decent part in the movie ‘Lady Bird’ too which was a masterpiece on its own. Can’t forget the Oscar nominated ‘Call Me By Your Name’ either. These are all indie but Timothée has great movies out if you know where to look!

Dune is my #1 most anticipated movie! It’s going to be amazing! It’s too bad Roger Deakins couldn’t jump on the project but I think Greg Fraser will do a great job with Denis’ direction.

Based on how much this film covers, the film is paced quite well. A lot of historical epics often struggle with this. The acting is superb. Potential nominations for Joel Edgerton and Chalamet I hope. The cinematography though...wow. One of my favourite films of the year for sure.

Bit late to the party, haha. Commenting on the historicity, I actually found it odd how they treated it. They followed Shakespeare's story and didn't make it any more historical. For one, they show the young partying hellion story line which comes from Shakespeare and his sources. It's actually a false posthumous narrative invented over a century after Henry V lived. In truth, he wasn't a partying reluctant royal. In fact, he was so eager to become king, Henry IV's advisors were worried Prince Henry would usurp his own father. It's a popular image of Henry but isn't true. If what you say is correct then how they handled Henry "Hotspur" Percy is completely wrong. For one, he's around teenage age and to me looks like a kid. In reality Hotspur was pushing 40. According to the filmmakers he'd be a what... 3-year-old commanding the English at Otterburn? The Battle of Shrewsbury was a full-blown battle with thousands of casualties. Shakespeare has Prince Hal challenge Hotspur to single combat, the challenge is not delivered, and the two meet in single combat during the battle. In reality the two never met on the battlefield, suffering similar injuries with different results. Hotspur lifted his visor, presumably to issue an order, and was struck above the eyeball killing him instantly. Prince Henry was also struck in the face with an arrow but survived after prolonged, painful, but ingenious surgery. There was never a duel. How they handle the Dauphin is also very odd. Here he's commanding the French army and is Henry's martial adversary which is laudable. Shakespeare depicted Charles d'Albret as the commander at Agincourt with the Dauphin present. Historically, d'Albret shared command with Marshal Boucicaut and the Dauphin was nowhere near Agincourt. Here he's promoted to commander with the actual commanders excised. The Dauphin died of illness at 18, wasn't a military commander, and didn't take part in the Agincourt campaign. As for the armour and period details, they get the usual things wrong. I actually don't like the look of the armour; a lot of it looks plastic, often poorly fitted, and also often historically inaccurate. Henry V's maille coif looks passable but his hauberk looks like straight fireplace mesh. I love Shakespeare's treatment and would like to see an _actually_ historically correct version. Hella Haasse did it, albeit from the French point of view, but it shows it's possible and no less dramatic. This is all just commenting on the historical aspect of it; as a film it looks serviceable.

Why is no one talking about how the battle scene is extremely similar to Battle of the Bastards? Some shots are side-by-side identical. Not that I'm complaining, Battle of the Bastards is arguably one of the best battle scenes out there, but I haven't heard anyone mention it on their reviews even when it's so obvious.

Cool i'll look forward to this movie - 'once more unto the breach...' - The Tudors where without doubt the greatest dynasty Britain had. HenryV is my favorite and a tale of a boy becoming a man and how to be less frivolous and be economical with all your resources whether that's human or logistical. Oh and how to bash the French 500-1 :)

@@moni2415I stand corrected. You're absolutely right he was a Lancaster a lesser house of Plantagenet - but the hereditary line went on to form the Tudors after battle the of Bosworth whereby red and white rose made the Tudor rose. You can thank Henry VII for that marketing masterstroke. My point remains intact despite the minor technical oversight. The family line of the Tudors was the best England had in my view. Stewarts Meh! Hanovers Meh! Sax-Coburgs Meh! Gothas Meh! - Who was your favourite? Best wishes :)

Pattinson was awful -- a shallow, Guignol troll barking a silly French accent. Why would a contemptuous Dauphin speak English at all, when he knows Henry speaks French? Oh, yeah, they needed a name Hollywood actor, and none of them speak French, so historical verisimilitude be damned. Yawn.
