That “dance”they showed him doing at the end of the video was a ceremonial Lethwei pre fight routine. As I understand it, the warriors and pro lethwei fighters have done for centuries. The people of Myanmar accepted him with open arms, partially bc of his rush to embrace their culture.

Also not such an amazing story when he is foot and a half TALLER than his opponents. with a significant reach advantage.. He is obviously a good fighter but i doubt he would have beaten the champions as an amateur if they would have same reach... its hard to headbutt a taller opponent. also elbows have really short reach and are not so usefull with a taller opponent.

I've never gotten emotional watching a fight. Seeing the 2nd legend fight through the pain after his leg was injured. Seeing the pain in his face and him still getting up. He's fighting for his life! When he couldn't stand and he started crying. I'll admit, I did too, the level of desperation he got to knowing he can't get up, with blood pouring out of the top of his head. Unbelievable spirit from both and an unbelievable story.

I never heard of this sport inspite of living so close in the border of Myanmar. I am from Manipur,India.. N i grow up from Myanmar foods and products. I hve even visited their side of the country too.. And i must say, much respect to the country near and dear to me.
Must've been a hell of a lot of pressure for the defending champ fighting a foreigner in front of the whole nation. In Myanmar I imagine this situation was highly uncommon, unlike in Thailand today. Guy literally cannot give up without giving his absolute all.
