I have no idea what this guy is talking about. RK makes great keyboards and you definitely don't need to change anything to have a good keyboard. For 50$ you get a solid piece of tech that just works. If you don't need any knick knack or are looking for anything extra like the volume knob, I can most certainly recommend you get the RK. It's the same as the 65% one, but you get the F keys, which are very important in my opinion. Even if you don't need them, the size difference is negligible, because all that changes is the keyboard g height which does not matter when you're gaming. I've had it for months, almost a year now and it's been great.

Another great video! Been watching your channel for a lot of tech stuff I'm curious about. I do want to ask a question though: would you prefer this or the RK68 Plus (basically the LTC Nimbleback)? I decided on trying a 65% for my first mechanical keyboard, and both layouts seem good to me. What would be some of their pros/cons? Thank you! I do plan on modding the board someday (when I save enough money for each part LOL), so I'd also like to know if one is harder to work on than the other.

I'd prefer the RK G68 it's the same but with the option for bluetooth, 2.4GHz wireless, and type C, removable frame, and 2 USB pass-through, it also uses Kailh hotswap 5-pin PCB which makes switch selection more universal compared to Outemu.

There's also a normal rk68 that's wireless, it only comes with blue switches though, but that's an easy change.

2 things wrong with it though. Only comes in white and only has ice blue LED lighting.

This video is exactly what I needed to finally complete my purchase on Amazon, saying goodbye to my num pad and challenging myself to try a 65% keyboard, as well as spending some extra money on keycaps, wish me luck team 😅

More likely than not, Royal Kludge's RK branded switches are made by Huano. They're most likely the OEM for Ajazz and Keychron branded switches too. In my experience they tend to be very inconsistent in terms of scratchiness and tolerances.

I want a budget hot swappable and I’m stuck between the rk68 and the ltc nimbleback. What one would you recommend more?

I’d say it quite is, since theres USB passthrough and all of that. the rk68 plus has wireless tho

I was thinking about picking this up, the only problem is that there isn't many keycaps under 30 dollars, with the 1.75 u shift key, so far I found the rk pudding keycaps, do you have any other options? Also they must be neutral colors like black with white legends.

Does it have full customizable rgb settings ? Like macro keys etc to make each individual keys diff colours ?

can u do a review of its plus version? and it is very similar to LTC Nimbleback

Could you do a video on the newly popular tape mod? A beginner-friendly guide would be great!

Just put tape that is not super sticky (because other wise it'll be permanent ) underneath the PCB. It's not that hard and will definitely change your keyboard's sound profile. If you want videos about it, there are many out there and nearLucid's was great.

I just got a rk61 and a black rk68 at a local bin store for $6 a piece. Don’t know anything about keyboards just bought to resell them. That’s why I’m here looking at videos lol.

Do you know how to get the keyboard to disable sleep mode permanently? I enable the option for it in the software and set it to autorun on startup and it defaults back to 10 minutes every time.... Why a wired keyboard has a sleep mode to begin with is a mystery to me.

They also have the RK61 Pro which has a metal case and is only $70 😁 but awesome review! 👏

I dont know if its just me, but i just purchased this keyboard and noticed that battery charge is stuck at 10% when checking thru Fn+Enter.. tried using it also as wired (Off and B) but still the same, not charging beyond 10%

Can you swap the switches out with genuine Cherry MX switches?

The RKG68 is one of my fav budget 65% mech. Rk should make a pro version of this one with knob too! ☺️

Get the rkg68 version. It's 5-pin hotswap, could be run wireless, and a removable frame if you're into that. Mods I would do is pe foam and tape mod, changing the switches, and the stock keycaps which for some odd reason makes the switches sound scratchy

The rk g68 is not better if you want use wire. More or less the same with wire.

@@thisisavoid378 both are awesome for modding! I prefer the rk68 over the rk61 due to a slightly different case design and having arrow keys. But they rk61 is slightly easier to mod. Both are great though!

Same question, I would go for rk71 because of extra arrow keys, but I think rk71 are not easy to mod, not many keycaps are compatible with rk71

Yeah but gk61 have optical switches which are better for gaming but if you want to but new switches, mechanical switches have more options to buy
