    I would say that the main motivation to buy it is to have a shiltless sparring sword that is still wide enough near the hilt.

    I have never used a feda myself, I have only used the conventional sword shapes for a little over 20 years now. I recently purchased the SIGI king and I have to say I absolutely "love it". I got some custom fittings in the regular blade length. I have not found it floppy especially in the bind it's responsive, it is positive in the hands, it's super responsive in general and feels very well balanced. *Important to know for anyone looking at SIGI, they are easy to order from, they are responsive and reliable. I might have said most of what Federico reviewed, his review was right on point. (no pun intended).

    The Sigi King Standard is the best feder I've sparred with, no contest. (subjectively) Its combined ability to durchwechseln and also maintain purchase in the bind is unmatched. It's also excellent for the "great sweeps" that Meyer and the Kolner Fechtregeln describe. It is very much my favorite sword I own.

    My experience with King is that it does have a "noodleliness". If you just swing it around like a stick it's gonna be really floppy. Instead, one needs to really access when, and the angle of your strikes. It forces you to be more careful and precise. And yes, the power comes from the weight of it. If you get hit with the mid section it's gonna hurt a big more. The tip, not so much. I suppose one should at least try to handle a blunt once to get to know what it's like. It's like a end of semester exam: If you train right, a blunt should feel right, or at the least not awkward.

    I have heard some people complain that the Sigi King is too "floppy" however another reviewer remarked that the floppiness only really happens if your edge placement, structure and technique is poor so it is a feder that teaches you to use better technique...i have no idea if that is merit to that claim but this sword shape is something that i would love to eventually get.

    @@jeremywatson9129 in terms of handling it’s probably one of my first two choices in terms of Feders, it moves very well. And its stiffness makes it so good at binding actions. • @FedericoMalagutti

    @FedericoMalagutti

    Well, by which kind of perspective? To be clear, a 460 mm naval gun compared to a hunting rifle may easily be considered “a better gun than”, but they serve/served two radically different scopes which weren’t interchangeable. Same is in a lower scale for this two weapons. The first being a crow control/war weapon, he latter being a side-weapon for civil and military life, a multi purpose tool.

    @@hugo-pg5tv duels carried out with the same weapon tend to balance things, so there’s no difference in what you are using, be it clumsy or agile, as the opponent suffers the same pros and cons as you. Spadone has double the reach of a Katana roughly but requires more space and effort to start the motion, and needs to be kept in motion always. Katana is lighter and shorter and so it can start and stop motions easily, but it has lesser reach and blows are far lesser powerful.
