The Kimberley- Part 1 | Barn Hill Station | Cape Leveque Road Trip

This is a special episode- When people mention The Kimberley, most of us think straight to Broome and the Gibb River Road...... These spots are definitely awesome, but there's also so much more! We first head to Barn Hill Station for our second visit- this place has transformed a lot in the past 2 years, and it is an absolute must when travelling in NW WA. We then do the big van swap in Broome, moving from a Stealth 16 to the Commander. Mavi instantly in love with this new model. We then take the Commander on her first road trip up Cape Leveque-Broome Rd and stumble across the beautiful community of Lombadina. This fully revamped campsite is amazing, as are the community. We then venture over to Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm and have a whale of a time. We spent a very special morning with Terry Hunter on his Creek to Coast tour. Terry is one of the best storytellers we have ever met and his tour was first class!

As a kiwi I learnt more about indigenous Australians in this video than I have in 13+ years of living over here. That brief talk about bloodlines was so interesting, thanks for including it.

@@visualjon thanks mate! We want to thank Terry for giving us permission to capture it. He is one the most talented storytellers that we’ve met. We first met him 2 years ago and completely out of the blue, he came and shared some yarns with us. One of those unplanned moments that you’ll always remember… We made sure that we got to spend more time with him and hear more

Great video guys. We loved our trip up to Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm . Such a beautiful spot with a great pool and cafe. Pity you couldn’t do the Waterfall Tour. That would have been amazing. We did Horizontal Falls when we were there which was a bucket list dream of ours. Absolutely amazing. Absolutely loved the drone footage at the end. We certainly live in a beautiful country.

Lombadia has certainly changed. $45 a night...in probably the most expensive place in Australia to build. Over 2000k. To either Perth or Darwin. Cyclone rated buildings. Well done Lombardina.

Another great video, thanks guys. As always Robert has some questions: Do you like the split mirror Clearview's and what kind of rear view camera do you use. The Commander looked down in the front a bit and you did allude to the height ( ground clearance I assumed). Do you run airbags, if so are they OK run at 5psi when no van on the back.

@@robertarmbruster5650 hi mate, had to rewatch the vid to get the context. In regards to height, I was referring to the full height roof compared to the poptop. It does get hit with the cross wind more. We’re going to shoot a video on the pros and cons of both up at Jawa in the next week or so. As for the towing height, the Commander sat nice and flat on the same ball height as the Sirocco (we use an adjustable height hitch), I think the camera and side angles in the footage made it look a little low in the front. I do run airbags in Barry. I also adjust the pressure from van to van. Was running 40psi for the Commander, 35 for the Sirocco and 30 for the Stealth. When we’re not towing, I drop them to 10psi, but only have a 250kg constant spring, so not as heavy as some people run. Barry is also about 75mm higher than a standard BT/Dmax, so he sits nice and level at 10psi with a comfortable ride. I also have fabbed up custom spacers that sit at the top of the bellow to protect it from tearing. I did a bag on a very corrugated road in outback NT last lap, hence the spacer

Really enjoyed this video. Live in Perth but you’ve seen way more of WA than me. Quick question: if you had to choose between the Commander, Retreat, Stealth 16 & Sirocco Grande what would be your pick?

@@neilwelsford3578 thanks mate, we love your state! On the van, based on what travel we’ve already done and how we use a van, we’d currently choose the Commander. Caveat- we haven’t lived in the Retreat as yet, but it is in plan to test
