When we are kids we see the world differently than as adults and when we grow up we see the world for what it truly is!!!! Cruelest dream- reality. I love this song!!! So much truth and meaning

I was born in 88. So listening to the song as a kid, I would just sing along, and what the song was actually saying never really occurred to me. But listening to it now, at 34, with more dead friends than any 75-year-old should have, this mess hits hard. Sometimes growing up really does suck.

@@imzoltan exactly. I used to think growing old sucks. But I too, was born in the early 90’s and most of the kids I grew up with from the time are dead, in prison or on the run! Our minds were not in the right place. And many are stuck with that fucked up mentality they develop as they grow. I realized all long as I’m still alive I should be grateful and have many opportunities, because there are many that didn’t have that chance to even get their minds right before it was too late! So it would be extremely disrespectful to those that died too early or did something for me to say life sucks and just give up!They are part of the reason I should keep going. They should be part of your motivation. Being able to grow old is what we should look forward to. Sometimes I wish I could go back in time and tell everyone to get their minds right before they make fucked up decisions that end them!

JUST heard about the band and checking out the songs. Heard of them cuz my son is using "PRETTY FLY" as his walk-in anthem for his first amateur boxing match. Hilarious ... not up there with "bye, bye, miss American pie", but sure rings true for all generations. Global elite definitely rushing the rest of us into poverty. The son has lost dozens of military-met friends to suicide over the last six years. All that can be said is flip life the bird, go into mma and slap or choke someone out; for therapy.

This is my favorite song. I’m 13 and I understand this songs meaning. In so many words, Life sucks, there’s nothing we can do about it, we just gotta ride the wave. The choices we make are what write our destiny. And not fate’s heavy grasp. And life isn’t always gonna be roses and sunshine, there’s still gonna be a shit-ton of thorns.

I just realized he said Brandon Overdosed and died.. that's my name and I've over dosed more then I'd like to say and I got friends that had one and done.. this song definitely hits you in the feelers as you grow. Holy crud, i never knew the lyrics until now. I liked the song, but jeez, this hits a bit to close to home, especially this year... (Edit: i know im not alone in this feeling, but remember that others care about you. Its hard sometimes, but please try to stay positive. Please don't end up like those in the verses who didn't make it. Stay strong)

Lyrics When we were young, the future was so bright Woah-oh The old neighborhood was so alive Woah-oh And every kid on the whole damn street Woah-oh Was gonna make it big and not be beat Now the neighborhood's cracked and torn Woah-oh The kids are grown up, but their lives are worn Woah-oh How can one little street swallow so many lives? Chances thrown Nothing's free Longing for, used to be Still it's hard, hard to see Fragile lives Shattered dreams (go!) Jamie had a chance, well, she really did Woah-oh Instead she dropped out and had a couple of kids Woah-oh Mark still lives at home 'cause he's got no job Woah-oh He just plays guitar and smokes a lot of pot Jay commited suicide Woah-oh Brandon OD'd and died Woah-oh What the hell is going on? The cruelest dream, reality Chances thrown Nothing's free Longing for, used to be Still it's hard, hard to see Fragile lives Shattered dreams (Go!) Chances thrown Nothing's free Longing for (what), used to be Still it's hard, hard to see Fragile lives Shattered dreams

When I was a teenager I had a bright future. I had a wonderful family, I was good-looking, all of my friends adored me. I was supposed to become a sensation of tennis, I was the lead singer of my own Metal band, and I volunteered in the Red Cross rescuing people from car accidents or needing assistance once a week... Now at 45 I am the one staying home smoking pot all day, my girlfriend (when we were teenagers) committed suicide not even 2 years ago like my friend Theo and Alex died of overdose. This song is too painful and TRUE💔 😢
