I worked in Maryland and Texas as a Correctional Officer for the states agencies. I am in Pennsylvania and just did the first part of the interview process. It was a phone interview due to COVID obviously. It was brief and I was asked questions and some scenarios. I scored a 100 on the civil exam prior to interview. I now have to wait and hear for the possible next steps. I love your channel.

Being honest with inmates is very important. Inmates can tell if an officer is lying. Its alright to say no to an inmate. even if the inmate does not like what you say he will respect it. Now i have a question . This is mostly to see how you guys view it. For 12 years of my sentence I was in South Central Correctional Center in Missouri. It was about 25 miles from where i grew up. A couple of the guards i went to scholl with. One talked to me as if I was any other inmate. The other tried to talk to me all the time, which as an inmate made me nervous. I am sure you know why. But one day he told me not to tell anyone that we know one another because if staff finds out one of us will get moved and it would probably be me. I would enjoy hearing your opinion on this or of any other C/O who may read my comment.

or the officer would get another station to supervise for the shift. it happened to me. i was honest and went to my supervisor about an inmate i know personally and they moved me to another station. it was no big deal to me, it avoided me getting into trouble for showing favoritism.

I have my interview on Monday. The lieutenant told me we would try to do everything in one day. I'm not sure if they have always done it like that, it may just be because where I live there is a huge shortage in officers. I know for sure I will be doing my pt test. And out of everything, thats what I'm most nervous about. The running is no big deal, the sit ups no big deal... it's the push ups. I know they arent going to be perfect. Is the pre hire pt test that big of a deal? Would it be a definite make or break? I'm in Georgia btw. Thanks!!
