Pretty awesome concert all the way around

That this song peaked at #25, back then, tells you how great the music was in those days. To me this was a strong candidate for the best country song of the year, and I don't care where they put it on the charts. This song grows on you, and you sing along with it, so many others you get tired of and they burn out from too many listenings. I think this is one of the most inspired songs of it's time, for all the elements coming together so beautifully.

Come back FROM WHERE? They never went anywhere! Still jamming. It's just that Nashville won't let them have hits any more. Remember, their first record was called "Pickin' On Nashville" And Nashville DOESN'T like to be picked on. I just saw The Heads in concert last Summer and the people I was with were younger than me, and they could not BELIEVE how much they jammed!

You say you're sorry once again, dear You want me to take you back once more You say you need a helping hand, dear But that's what you told me once before Walk softly on this heart of mine, love Don't treat it mean and so unkind Let it rest in peace and quiet, love Walk softly on this heart of mine Walk on! I know someday you'll find a new love I feel your heart has turned to stone But please, let me down real easy 'Cause loneliness moves in as you move on Walk softly on this heart of mine, love Don't treat it mean and so unkind Let it rest in peace and quiet, love Walk softly on this heart of mine Walk softly on this heart of mine Walk softly on this heart of mine, oh!

This is one of my favorite songs of all time. Headhunters sure did make it sound totally different from the original. I know exactly where I was at when I heard their version, driving up interstate 81. Bought the cassette as soon after that as possible. Dumas Walker got more air time but I thought this was the best song on the album.
