THE KATY TRAIL Day 3:Franklin to Jefferson City Missouri, Bike Touring America's Longest Rail Trail

Day 3 of Bike Touring The Katy Trail in Missouri, one of America’s best long-distance rail trails. The Katy Trail stretches 240 miles from Clinton to Machens, Missouri. It also holds the title of America’s longest continuous rail-trail. We pack up at Katy Roundhouse Campground in New Franklin to bike tour to Jefferson City. Watch cycling through the Rocheport Tunnel, exploring the town of Rocheport, viewing the dolemite cliffs including Grand Bluff. We also pass the Columbia MKT Connector Trail before reaching North Jefferson City to follow a route to Jefferson City. Instead of a primitive camp at Noren Access to stay at the Baymount Inn. Check out what we encountered that September day.

This is one of my favorite stretches of the Katy as you get a long ride along the Missouri River right along the trail. Love the Rocheport tunnel it is a nice surprise.

One more thing about the Rocheport tunnel, it was the site of the Manitou Bluff. When Lewis and Clark came through, it was painted with Native American images.

Thank you! The Katy was an amazing trail. By far my easiest to travel trail. By that I mean logistics on the trail. Everything is planned out well on the Katy!

@@DeniseLookingOut I enjoyed all of it, really is a super nice trail for the entire length. If I had to pick just one section though, the parts with the bluffs on the left and river on the right were a favorite!
