@@BeaudaciousFilms seems pretty obvious. You could see that she had people around her like Lucas that still cared about her being okay. She didn’t care. @milk1730

@@BeaudaciousFilms I’m not sure how you don’t see the connection, it’s literally right in our faces. Vecna specifically targets those with past trauma (max with her brother, Chrissy with her mum, Fred with his hit & run, Patrick with his verbal abusive parents) all of who were also meeting with school councillors. Max specifically shows traits of depression - avoiding her friends, nightmares, her nervousness when meeting the guidance councillor, how unhappy she is. It’s been mentioned she wishes to switch places with billy both verbally & through her song. Vecna also addresses these feelings of ‘suicide’ with his victims as he tells them “it’s time to end your suffering, there’s a reason you hide from your friends, writing letters won’t stop this” pretty much hinting to depression & suicide. Additionally Max is the only survivor, not just because she was listening to music, she was about to die regardless of it but because her will to live was stronger in that moment, something the rest were lacking as they’d lost their will to live which is what Vecna specifically target as they are easier victims for him. So yes it’s pretty much a allegory for suicide & depression

The gravity of this scene really hits when you think about the other victims being alone and so scared in there by themselves. Max was given the opportunity to let her support system in before it was too late and she got a second chance, that speaks volumes. Its a much needed reality check that really speaks to the times we’re in and the times teens go through too! Everything seems permanent when you’re so young, especially pain and sadness, but the rough patches always end. I hope this scene spoke to people who really needed it.

I showed my sister st4 when she hadn’t watched it with us yet and it was so amazing (and funny) to see her have the same reaction we all had: screaming at her to make it, eyes wide open, couldn’t look away from the screen, and shouting with joy when Max made it.
This is the most impactful moment in all of stranger things we’ve never had a MAIN character be in such danger before. It was incredible how real the danger felt.

The fact that she wasn't in the show in season 1 only make it more likely that she might not make it. Only adding to the tension

@@ProfTricky3168 exactly! she also had the whole episode to say goodbye and i actually had a glimpse of fear that they might actually kill her off. Which actually would've been the better storytelling choice in my opinion, cause we would really hate that guy now

tom law oh look at you, you must be one of those idiots that convinced Disney to use a hell of a lot less cgi. Now whenever people watch Star Wars they have to look at people clearly in suits that mean the shows may as well be getting made in the 80s.

Literally JUST watched this scene for the first time, like, 5 seconds ago and I love it.
This scene always gives me goosebumps
I love how when Max fell she didn’t just sit there while impending doom was right in front of her like other people in movies/shows would which is hyper unrealistic, instead she did what anyone would do and didn’t waste a second before getting up and getting back to running instead of doing what any other movie would’ve done or make her do which is just making her sit there and watch everything else fall apart while she can easily get up so props to stranger things for that

Its so funny how watching this in 2024 feels nostalgic. Almost like rewatching a show you watched in the early 2000s
La mejor serie del mundo desde q la vi se convirtió en mi serie favorita 🥰🥰
Definitely one of my favorite scenes. I love how Vecna was throwing everything at her, the world is literally destroying itself to try and stop her- It really just emphasizes the level of fight she needed to escape. And the connection to depression, just. Mwah 👌
This scene makes my heart beats fasts!
I WILL NEVER FORGET THIS-✋😭
You can't watch this scene and the music that builds it without knowing the intense build up to this part of the season. I love the emotional contract this series strikes with you and its characters, and that's truly the sign of great script writers!
This scene made me cry …. Literally Sadie had taken this scene to a next level🙌
It's crazy how this scene just made me think no matter how bad shit is you have to find a way to go on and your friends/family are ALWAYS gonna be there 🙏
The best scene of Stranger Things
This song fits the intensity of this scene perfectly. This is so metaphorical for depression, anxiety, loss….I can’t help but cry 🥹
I love this scene... especially when she makes it and tells Lucas I AM HERE
I feel like this scene is what it's like when you beat depression
