this is a hell of a movie, no CG, no boobs, no sarcasm, straight acting skills and playwrighting, the emotions penetrate so deep inside which left me silent for several hours after watching and still cant pull myself out of the movie. this is one of those underrated movies u have to see.

That is literally all he can seemingly act as, Iron Man - I was actually set to go and see this tonight until I checked the trailer and noticed he was in it. It's the same with Robert De Niro, all he plays is a tough guy character in everything he does; he does it well, but it gets very boring and very repetitive, very quickly.

I just watched the movie and I had to say it left me quite speehless. It made me realize how, even law itself, can be shaken by the subjectivity of the people under it. It made me realize that human's emotions are so complicated, thus resulting in things they didn't actually want to do or cause. And honestly Robert in this was very superb; I saw sides of him I never saw in his role as Iron Man. Being a shady lawyer, a broken son of an equally broken father yet also a warm father to his daughter, a considerate brother to his siblings, and a lost man who never really moved on from his high school sweetheart, all of those sides at once. No wonder why he is one of world's A-list actors.

When it comes to the beauty and complexities of being family, this movie hits all the right notes and all the feels. Just done with another round of watching it. Amazing performances from the actors. Still blown away.

This is the one that should have won him an Academy Award. Phenomenal. He has such powerful range. A truly underrated actor.

I completely agree! This movie itself should have won best picture. It is incredible! I'm not exaggerating when I say that I both laughed and cried while watching it and claim that it's within my top 10 favorite movies. It's THAT good.

Its amazing how diverse of an actor RDJ is. He can still take his comedic timing into a drama movie such as this and still convey the emotions necessary to garner the feels meant to be. Truly one of the greater actors of our generation, I truly believe it is worth watching every movie he is in because he is one of the few who can carry a movie by hisself.

I really wish Robert Downey Jr. does more films like this in the future

Brilliant film, sad, quirky, brilliant acting, great cinematography, great pacing. Really good film and worth a watch. After watching this I want to watch all of Robert Downey Jr's films.

I've saw this on TV and it feels touch, sad and happy. This story never fails you to feel emotional as it portrays career of a man so destined to succeed despite being away from his family or choose to be far away from them just to prove who is he as a man and the odd relationship with his Dad and the old folks while growing up.

10/10 - if you didn’t see an amazing movie for a long time,, this is it... just pure acting skills.

A good friend asked me to watch this movie and at the time I did I already knew my dad had cancer, but when I did I tried to understand the behavior of him and I can tell you parts of thos movie played right in my face that I could of said ok, that's part of the experience for a strong person who now thinks that something is getting a hold of them. My dad died in January of this year and it was really heart breaking. If anyone who really doesn't know how to react or what to expect should look at this movie. I will watch it again

This was one movie that had a real impact on how I think and how I work..... Very touching, left a tear or two and it left me moved....the emotions penetrate deep inside and it left me in silence for several hours after I watched it....Exemplary acting skills from Robert Downey Jr and Robert Duvall.... One gem of a movie.

Ya'll can tell how close to the heart this project is to Robert. And it definitely shows in the acting. The court scene at the end, the scene in the kitchen, the hospital scene; I was overall just mezmerized. They did such an amazing job with the movie. Too bad it didn't get as much recognition as it should have. But this was fucking amazing, and it's now my favourite movie ever. Got all emotional and shit, it hit me deep down- the family issues, quite the unlucky life, all that. It's just so. And Robert did a good fucking job like he always have with his movies. Super proud to be his duckling. ❤️

Cesar Galvez The joke is that he's type cast as Tony Stark now. When you see Robert Downey Jr. that's all you see...freaking Tony Stark. That's why you can't take him seriously as an actor anymore. Thus the joke. I don't see how that's difficult to understand but I guess there are lot of dense people out there.

This is a powerful movie, the family dynamics is full blown, I can relate. The scene in the boat where the father says something nice to his son maybe for the first time ever, you can feel what the son was feeling, then the father takes it away from him again. Wow. I cried. Then he dies.

If there's ever an award for an actor that almost destroyed his life& career but came back better than ever.. that has it all & is absolutely amazing to watch, I say Robert Downey Jr deserves that award!! 👏👏👏💯

This is best realistic movie I have ever seen in my life truely blessed that we could see rdj in our generation too I love rdj.....

Im not the best expert when it comes to every single actor, but my point is robert downey jr. is an overrated actor , there are people saying he should win an oscar for this. Wtf hes not even trying its like im watching iron man 4, hes like the same guy. There other actors who havent won the oscar for best actor or not any at all who deserve it more than him. Robert downey jr. Has been Spoiled by disney. With all that money is making him think hes a good actor, hes almost 50 for gods sake and he needs to step his game up. Michael fassbender or joseph gordon lewitt are like 12-15 years younger than him and they have better acting and the different characters they play , it always feels something new and fresh. Like look at michael fassbenders role as magneto in xmen and then compqre that to edward epp in 12 years a slave. They were both well played roles and felt like totally different characters. And look at christian bale in american psycho he was 26 and look at the prestige or the fighter all three amazing well played roles and all felt different. This is just my opinion, this movie looks good, but no way in hell he deserves an oscar . Step ur game up robert!!

last time i cried at the end of a movie i was watching pursuit of happynes.i saw that movie 6 years ago.i saw this movie today and my god i cried like a baby at the ending.highly recomend this movie to evry1.

So glad i found this. At first i was jind of hesistant to watch, because i know its drama. But i couldnt find anything else so i tried watching the trailer to spark my interest. And yes it did. It's rare to find a movie like this these days.. Worth the watch.

Robert Duvall is 89 years old, can you believe it? Seeing him reminded me of Godfather and was kinda shocked by the fact that he's still performing

This is pretty much the perfect trailer. I use this as an example of everything a modern trailer should contain as a visual representation of a logline.

As someone who has lets say a complicated, bad feel relationship with my dad, this picture really touched me. Yes it's melodramatic and contrived but it's well written, well acted and packs a truthful, emotional and personal punch for me. This movie makes me realise that maybe I should make up for so much lost time before it's too late. But just like Hank and his Father in this movie, things are complicated and maybe making up can never happen. Needless to say this is a movie that moved me personally and I hope things work out in the end in my family before it's too late.(SPOILER ALERT INCOMING.) Not ashamed to say I cried at the end when there are finally good, kind words between Hank and the Judge just before the Judge dies. Heartbreaking that the way they should of been with eachother Hanks whole life only lasted too briefly. Hank will never see his Dad again but I hope me and my Dad have kind words that last many years, not just before it's too late. But anyway, beautiful movie.

I keep coming to this trailer every now and then. This is class acting by everyone. Need more movies like these

Well... I think this movie is a little masterpiece. We need more movies like this one. The story around the trial grabs you and keeps you watching and the whole picture they painted with this familiy is very touching and just well done. There is so much honesty in the acting and in the dynamic of the characters. I suppose the story about this family really comes from the heart. And those two big components really are a combination that I would just call great taste. Hats off... this is art and we need more of it.

i saw this movie a couple days ago... the best decision I've taken this year. such a gem of a film, made me cry.

I was blessed enough to see this early on October 5th at the Wright Patt Air Force Base! My parents totally surprised me and my life was changed forever when ROBERT DOWNEY JR. SHOWED UP! I was inches away from my favorite human in the world. Wow. And the movie was AMAZING. You don't see many movies these days without zombies eating people or dystopian love triangles.

That's an amazing movie... Incredible acting skills,the plot is perfect.I just love it.

The trailer is not doing justice to how fantastic this movie is.

The Judge, a film that always reminds me to My Father. At a time when time put us (especially me) at a very chaotic point a few years ago. Where at that time he felt life without a clear purpose. This film shows, a father would never want to be 'beaten' by his son. He will always maintain his superiority at any cost. Anger, emotion even slap. But deep in his heart, he keeps a very sweet love song that his son has never heard. Although my father is a person who is mostly rigid and it is very difficult to express his affection. But in fact his love is as wide as the ocean, unfortunatelyn as high as the stars. It's just that he kept it all very neat and dignified. My Father.. I found you in this Movie and.. I miss you so much, Pa..

Dec 28, 2021 I just finished this movie it's heartbreaking aside from the case it also deals with family. Judge Palmer (father) and Dale (youngest son) reminds me of my father and my brother so this movie is close to my heart it almost made me cry in the end.

This is by farrrr the bestest movie I ve ever seen..both rdj and rd should have won best actor and supporting role. They both are great in this movie. Love from Malaysia

I love this movie a lot, it’s a very powerful film about a complex relationship between a father and son who are very harsh with one another yet they love each other so deeply. It’s also a film, I feel was very personal to RDJ, since he had an extremely difficult childhood and a poor relationship with his father. I loved both RDJ and Robert Duvall performances here, very good actors. The ending was very touching and moving to me

No heroics, not chest compression. Just a sad goodbye. She was 46 years old, my best friend died on Skype with me while playing an online game. She was gone in seconds. Her last conscious act was to scoff when I said she was heaving a heart attack to 911. I had paramedics through her door less than 2 minutes later. I watched the Skype counter as the seconds past. 1 min 43 seconds and they reached her. There was nothing they could do. I later came to understand she could have been in the best heart hospital surrounded by the 10 best heart doctors they couldn’t have saved her. Sometimes it’s just the right time for goodbye. This scene the words of respect and reconnection were spoken, the wound sealed. My friend was happy and having fun. I sure do miss her. I took 3 senior her cats home that day after I let them say goodbye to her body

This has to be one of the best movies I’ve ever seen in my life…

this was such a sad movie, it was well done between the two actors that I felt bad for both of them because they never had the best relationship but they were so much alike.

This looks great. Robert Downey Jr and Robert Duvall are unstoppable together

I’ve always been a huge fan of Robert Duvall, Vincent D'onofrio and Billy Bob Thornton but I’ve never really cared much for Robert Downey Jr. as an actor. This movie has changed that. The performances, all actors in this are truly outstanding. The script and story line are wonderful and the DP did a great job with all locations, angles and backgrounds. This is a must see and I praise Robert Downey Jr. for an amazing performance.

A family melodrama and how father child relationship might be caught up when time passes and memories reemerge . Comic and tragic at the same time developing a strong concept about how law is defined by subjective human beings in an objective manifestation of a courtroom. A MUST WATCH
