I work in produce in the grocery field and a customer once asked me if the apples were from this year..and I was like...of course they are. Little did I know that at that time when I was new to produce farmers have apples stored in warehouses and have the apples sucked dry of oxygen or some crazy crap like that and they are preserved till next crop and so on and on. Yeah...pretty crazy how produce is farmed, cropped, stocked, and reserved for retail. I was raised just eating fruits in veggies from our backyard and from neighbors yards with no worries. Now it's all crazy like E=Mc2 x pie just to grow a squash. If I had a large property and fields I'd grow my own shit. Nuff said. I need a banana split now with cherries and nuts damn it. : )

Ethylene is naturally occuring gas that certain plants release when they ripen. In any case fruit and vegetables are extremely good for you even if they are not organic.

look at all these poor bananas grown in cramped conditions, and forced to live in tiny boxes living on top of one another until they meet their grizzly end. My social mentor/hopee indian tribal dance professor told me this is inhumane, and I accept it completely! #BANANASAREMURDER

When that helicopter sprays cancer causing agrochemicals all over the fields there are workers still working in them. Also that guy wearing a respirator mask to put on the blue fungicide bag over the bananas is just for show. Notice how the guy taking the bag off does not have a mask. The pulley system of bananas requires a worker at the front to wear a belt hooked up to the pulley system and physically pull the bananas for miles. It is heavy and back breaking. Banana workers get zero benefits. If they get injured on the job they're just discarded.
