Buddy Holly is one of my favorite artists. I did a school project on him, and played a song by him for the class. I never knew that one of my other most favorite artists did covers of Holly's songs! That gave me chills. I sure wish I could've met both artists.

Me too. If I remmber correctly, the shows were live? I guess the BBC have not retained any recordings and we are dependent on private videotape recordings. Thanks to the uploader.
It's funny to think John Denver's first ever TV series was in England.

from what I hear, it was that way on purpose. His mgt wanted to test things out on audiences outside of the U.S. first. They didn't want to present to American audiences (which would have been his primary audience at the time) until he could get more experience doing it and find the right formula for these things, so that he might have better success once they started doing it here. Maybe British audiences are more accepting. But the strategy worked.

This is obviously from the 6 shows that John did for BBC, prior to any appearances on American television. It was very highly rated and contributed to professional appearances in the USA. Perhaps one of his most important milestones. His important collaborators, Bill and Taffy Danoff appear in most of these 6 episodes.

Wow, John went from playing folk/country to rock (Buddy Holly) to blues to rock again! He could play anything on the guitar! John Denver was definitely WAY more talented than many people knew!

(1) There is another very good rendition of "Starwood In Aspen". (2) Around 12:30 "Leaving On A Jet Plane". One rendition already in a playlist "John Denver". (3) Starting from about 18:50 "I Like To Deal With Ladies". --- Jie Song added this note on September 7th, 2016

Actually, in the opening lines of Starwood, his voice cracks. All of the years I have listened to him (and it is a lot - going back to the '70's), have never heard him miss a note or his voice crack. So he was human, afterall..

I watched this, the original broadcast, video @480p is BS , as digital technology advances the analog must be remastered at the higher digital resolution. So much is lost.
