This is great...I'd given up on finding a clean copy of this performance ever since NBC took it off their site a month or so after it originally aired. This version of the Project was phenomenal...I'd put it right up there with the original 1980 lineup. Joe Fucking Perry FTW. Thanks for posting this.

I saw this line up of the JPP open for Motley Crüe in Montreal in late 2009/early 2010. They killed it. Joes a living legend!!!

Thank you so much for uploading this man! You and Ralph Mormon are by far without a doubt my favorite project singers! Your voice is phenomenal and I love the way you sang some of the original project tunes. I’m a huge Aerosmith, Joe Perry and Joe Perry Project fan so I’m really happy you were able to keep the amazing legacy of the JPP alive. I hope you and Joe can get back together and tour again. I know he’s going out on tour with Gary Cherone later this month and I’m going to see him on December 4th, but I’d totally prefer it with you.

Appears to be mostly the JPP I saw at the Viper room Oct 6 2009 but without David Hull on Bass - not sure about drummer and other guitarist. Front man Hagen unfortunately doesn’t sing here - he has what sounds like an amazing 8 octave voice.

Pity Hagen didn't get to sing one of the songs that he sung on on the album as they were great. Joe should really just play guitar!

it's disgusting that Perry can't let his ego out of the way and let a real singer sing. When it comes to his solo work, Joe perry has made one dumb move after another. Love him in Aerosmith

@@toddlavigne6441 First of all, very out of touch comment that shows you really don’t know anything about Joe. I will not say he has never been arrogant because he definitely has, but to say he is in the present day would be factually incorrect; however, I digress. The real reason that Joe sings on this appearance is because Letterman producers insisted on him singing. The initial idea was for them to do We’ve Got a Long Way to Go, as that was the single for Have Guitar, Will Travel that had been released not long before this airing, but because of this insistence on Joe singing lead, they did Slingshot as shown in this performance. This information comes directly from Hagen Grohe who I had a conversation with about this airing not too long ago.

@@loveyourvoicekn Well that's all fine. Joe is a really good song writer and needless to say, is a brilliant guitarist all round. He cannot, and should not sing. Also, Joe's lyrics are excellent. I'm a huge Joe Perry fan. Listen, he was the guy who never wanted to record or perform 'Dream On'. He hates ballads, yet one could argue ballads saved Aerosmith's career. 'Angel' was huge, as was 'Don't Wanna Miss a Thing'. Those songs the bansd deep into the more cheesy commercial market. Which elevated their career to another high...no pun intended...LOL Steven on the other hand knows all to well the importance of ballads.

@@toddlavigne6441 Joe is not a technical singer but that doesn’t mean he can’t sing. For example, you could make the same argument that Gary Cherone, Bob Dylan, and Tom Petty cannot sing, yet they do lead vocal for a lot of their respected bands music. I can understand why many people don’t care for his voice as a non-technical singer, I mean hell, I am a technical singer with a 3 1/2 octave range that can sing in different languages and styles who recognizes the talent Joe has. What makes him good isn’t his voice, it’s the emotional factor. You can be the most technical singer who has great intonation and vibrato, but if you don’t connect with what you sing, you frankly sound not very good, so while I can understand your position, I personally disagree. Joe has been writing his own version of ballads since the early project years. Here is a list I’ve comprised of Joe’s ballads: The Mist is Rising (1980) Play the Game (1981) South Station Blues (1981) No ballads on Once a Rocker as Joe wasn’t a primary songwriter on this record, Cowboy Mach Bell was. Ten Years (2005) Crystal Ship (not his song, but he still did a cover of it so I’ll count it here, 2005) Do You Wonder (2009) No Surprise (2009) I Wanna Roll (2018)

I agree, at least use your lead singer on a high profile show. Joe can't sing well enough to pull this off. Use you f-ing lead singer.
