The fact that Abraham Zapurder kept filming and kept his camera directly on the President and didn't duck or drop or just completely lose focus and look around for a shooter is amazing. If it was me in 1963 seeing JFK make that tortured awkward motion with his two hands after getting hit the first time, I would have been frozen then a millisecond after the head shot, I would have hit the deck and ran for cover. Imagine if there were today's tech back then.

Friday November 22, 1963. I was a 13 years old, an 8th Grade Jr. High Student in Los Angeles. It was one of the worst days of my life, to find our our President had been brutally shot dead while I was in school. I was in gym class and everyone who was in all the gym classes were directed to sit down on the play yard to wait and listen for an annoucement from our Principal over loudspeakers. The effect on the entire student body was horrific, people crying, and teachers totally shocked, normal teaching impossible the rest of the day. My mother always picked me up in our family car from school. As I was walking out of school, I prayed that somehow it had all been a socialogical experiment to see how students would react to such news. When I got to the car I asked my mother if the news was true. That's when I knew for sure that President Kennedy was really dead. It changed history, and has haunted me all the years since. In 2013, at 63 years old I went back to my Junior High to be in the exact spot on the playground where I heard the news 50 years earlier. I'm 71 years old now, still haunted by such a loss.

Why didnt they just turn the camera around to identify the shooter smh.

Props to the cameraman for going back in time to film this for us, but why didn’t he just warn everyone about the assassination instead?-

@@Renyrain1 it’s called The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealy Plaza it’s the actual bookstore from which Lee Harvey Oswald shot fire at JFK. The actual window is covered by glass but it shows how the boxes were set up when he left the gun and the gun is displayed there too.

Correction. The first shot didn't ricochet of the tree. It ricocheted off the arm holding the traffic light, hit the curb on the south side of Elm, and fragmented. One of those fragments hit James Tague.

WOW!!! I have seen the assassination footage so many times over the past 50 years. I've even been to that very spot in person. But I have never known how exactly it all took place the way this video presented it. Absolutely floored.

This is good and we thank all of you who put this together. There is so much minutia regarding just the actual assassination all by itself before we even take a broader view. It is really the most unusual happenstance in at least modern history.

@@randyharris3175 Nobody (save a "highly reliable" 10 year old kid) saw anyone shooting from the book depository! So what's your point? That only 3 or 4 people who thought the shots came from the TSBD were required to testify also? Why were there so many called in that case? Don't just blindly believe what you're told, do your own thinking. Also, proof read much!?

For one thing the limo was a little past Zapruder when the headshot happened. This says the car was even close to him. The limo passed the light post when the headshot occured.

Remember that the trees at the base of the School Book Depository Building were much smaller and shorter at the time of the assassination. I don't think they were an obstacle to the shooter.
