We’ve already got all the technology for the flying part of it all the navigation, the auto pilot all that’s done in small drones right now, even consumer drones can fly away points and fly flight plans and profiles all that parts done. I don’t know how you’re saying 24 hours of light time by adding 1000 pounds you don’t need 24 hours of flight time. You just need 2 to 4 hours or six hours would be a dream. This is where most small aircraft have between two and six hours of flight time, depending on the payload. Especially with rapid recharging you’re not gonna want to sit nothing more than four hours anyway, I guarantee it I don’t care how roomy it is you’re ready to land get something to eat. Use the bathroom while it’s recharging. If you could keep it to an hour recharge in a four hour endurance the thing would be a dream. Specially, if you made a two seater, are you gonna wild dream a four seater with enough payload to also carry bags. We’ve already got all the technology as far as the avionics and the auto pilot even consumer level drones like a DJI drone can fly way points in a flight plan all that parts done we just need the battery the energy in the endurance of the battery

Hardcore on the job field surrounding freight and delivery but yeah adding 750-1250 lbs of battery to the commercial market for the ability to introduce localized air traffic as an option for travel sounds pretty cool. I don't think it'll be the other way around though as the private sector, while wildly innovative, lacks the proper motivations to implement these technologies practically like a business organization can, or at least not as effectively.

What used to be a pretty country drive filled with whitetail deer, turkeys, Sandhills cranes, is now filled with bullshyt that doesn’t even stay in our community. Most of the power gets channeled to bigger cities like Ft Wayne or Detroit, Plus it’s all surrounded by an 8’ chain link fence. And we’re not the only ones. This bullshyt was sold to the public as “Cheep renewable energy “. But our electric bill is way more than it was. In the end our power bill went up and we lost our landscape, and pushed out more wildlife. So much for saving the environment and wildlife habitat.

@@peterclarke7006 this isn’t new. Electric cars came out with combustion engines in the early 1900s, electric trolleys were in every medium and big towns, now only San Francisco has them. West and Eastern Europe still have them. They’re very efficient but we got rid of them, in my area they mowed down over 3000 acres of field and Forrest for solar. Nobody likes to see a coal mine but a lithium or cobalt mine is ok. But what do you care, you don’t have to look at it,

Once it gets way up in the sky it should be able to deploy wings and a tail to glide like a glider. Once your gliding the motors can be cut off to conserve the batteries. If it fails to start have two back up quick deployment parachutes. If that fails the roll cage will soften the blow if air bags are installed like in a car in strategic places.

Early adopters don't care about such things. They're after the prestige of being first in line, and sometimes, if they're a decent enough human being, about helping to fund additional development. Your concerns are yours. Their concerns are theirs. And, as we see, there's practically no overlap to be found.

The reason why you cant have a shield around the blades is the same reason why you cannot have a shield around a helicopter blade, it would simply not turn. They turn by simply changing the angle of the blades which ould likely not work with a shield around the propellers/blades.
