Yes that’s what I noticed I realized this is what the Jester represents. He protects the innocent and pushes people to break a few social rules nothing harmful but enjoy themselves and senses and eliminates toxic people and people who don’t appreciate life. That’s what I got from this series. He encourages you to face your fears. I’m happy you picked that up.

He is not at all different than Sam from 'Trick r' Treat' or the Trickster from 'The Terror Of All Hallows Eve' - they all are sentient functionaries of the Holiday, they have duties to perform, some people may get hurt, some may get scared and some will be better for that experience . I would not be surprised at all if they occupy the same world and are acquainted with each other .

Really interesting how Part 2 and Part 3 were actually prequals to Part 1. So far I've gathered that in a way The Jester is like the spirit of Halloween and only preys on those who refuse to celebrate Halloween.

Even more simple than that: he never really did anything too terrible up until the last guy that he vanished into god knows where, because he was the straw that broke the camel's back after a long night of people being rude to the jester. It's less that he preys on people, and more that he's just like any other person in that he can be fed up by a bad day, *_so just don't be rude._*

The Jester is an amazing character because he's completely fleshed out despite not saying anything or even having facial expressions. Everything he convoys is through body language. Its such a neat little touch.

Towards that young girl, he behaved like an angel keeper (or better a devil keeper if you prefer). His unique goal was to save her Halloween. Without him, she would have spent a very boring night.

The Jester is only bad when looked at by the laws of man, rather than the laws of spirits. He never directly kills anyone, and seems to even follow a stricter code than most spirits. He only harms (usually by scaring) those who do not embody the spirit of Halloween, those that do not show kindness, and those that don’t play along. He never kills anyone, assuming making the man in the white shirt disappear didn’t kill him. He just wants everyone to have fun on Halloween! Personally, I think he’s a good spirit, just misunderstood.

I always got the sense he was a demon, perhaps 'the demon' of Halloween. The feature-length film deviates away from the Halloween theme (!!!) & the 3 Rules of the short-films :(.....but they make Jester seem more demonic.

to be more correct he is most likely samhein (or just a spirit of haloween summoned) cuz haloween was originally a pagan not holiday but more of a shitfest since on that day Samhein would come to the mortal realm and well make jack o lanterns from the heads of any humans he finds or take them to his realm costumes were to trick him ( he was nearly blind by the lore so yea) and then christians came

The only rule really is to enjoy Halloween. He doesn't care if you wear a costume or not, decorations have nothing to do with it either, same with Jack-O-Lanterns. He only gets upset if you don't like his tricks because that's going again "trick or treat" spirit of Halloween and usually involves them being rude. Like in the first one the guy didn't really seem to care about the tricks, he just wanted to go. In the second one, the guy was annoyed with the Jester as well when the girl just wanted to have some fun. And in this one he went after that guy because, as a magical entity that can teleport and do crazy magic, it wouldn't surprise me if he knew the guy was the Scrooge of Halloween.

I love the jester he's like a badass uncle who is unhinged, I love it

I love this series, and the Jester seems like a decent dude, but I can't lie, this chapter def creeped me out the most. xD It's the stranger danger element and how the girl seemed very timid and nervous about going with a stranger. And the absolute unpredictability of the Jester. And his mysterious motives! And that END! Man, I love this series!!!

And here comes part 3 with the absolute Redemption of the character from part 2, and also making part 2 rewatchable with a new perspective. What a MASTERPIECE this trilogy is. One of the greatest characters and actors of all time. Also another round of praise for every single person who worked on the film. Costume design, sound techs, editors, producers, director, people involved with food, the extras. Everybody did outstanding work.

He basically just wants everyone to be a decent person and follow the spirit of Halloween. Amazing, so the guy from Chapter 2 did not get injured - The Jester actually had his eyes on the girl as the "bad one" the entire time, helping the guy to realize it. This series is really good.

I think he just wants people to feel the joys of Halloween, but when the few ruin it that's when he gets angery. That's why he took the girl trick or treating when she was sad and did those magic tricks in the earlier chapters. He's just spreading his own little version of joy. Can't say I blame the guy.

There is a movie out now. ***mild spoilers for the film ahead*** While its really great to see Jester again, they DO change up some things. First, The Bad: He becomes much more Michael Myers-like (unfortunately). There is a pretty high body count! He also gets a lot more torture-esque. Think: Pinhead the demon. They also change the mask, it still looks like Jester but has a more Black-Phone aspect to it. The script itself is odd & not in 'The Jester' type odd. They make him into more of a punish-the-sinners-meets-Wishmaster type. I am not sure this angle worked very well. The Good: He actually.....speaks. But NOT REALLY! In one scene, he is stalking a young woman & he takes her cell-phone. He duplicates her mother's voice & has an Exorcist-demon type confrontation with her! This is a great scene.

How can something so terrifying be so cute and so scary at the same time?

In other instances, he didn't mind taking one or two but it seems he found it against Halloween spirit that people are restricting kids from taking however many candies they want. Because what are they gonna do? Take 2 or 3, big deal

@@Jalaleen He's not against the idea of enforcing useless rules, as we see him take the "take one" sign and use it later on. The reason he took all that candy was because the girl almost never gets Halloween candy. He felt bad for her and wanted to make sure she got plenty. And I know plenty of people who will take _all_ the candy in one swipe lol, leaving other kids with nothing. So it is kinda a big deal since that'd mean only the kids who got there first get any. Even if that's not the case, or you argue they'd do that regardless, if you set out a bowl of candy to last 6 hours (aka all night), if everyone takes 2 it'll last 3, if they take 3 it'll last 2, if they take 6 it'll last 1 hour. So yeah 2 or 3 might not seem like a big deal, but if everyone takes 3 the bowl won't even make it halfway through the night, again leaving many without candy there.

Xirxn He wasn’t being an asshole, he’s a jester. Jesters are comedic and mischievous, they embody the spirit of Halloween perfectly. Notice he didn’t attack the guy once, he let him hurt himself. And tbh you could argue that anyone who doesn’t give out candy on Halloween is an asshole, it literally costs a 1 dollar basket you can reuse and 4-7 dollars of candy each year. I think the jester went pretty easy on him considering he made the dude in the first episode disappear.

I hope there's part 4 or a full on movie because I'm enjoying this

I felt so bad for that little girl. All she wanted was for someone to take her out to get some candy. At least now she knows to avoid strangers. But I think we all know that the real Villains are her parents.

No sé quién haya sido el director, pero los conceptos, la interpretación, la manera de comunicar sin gestos ni palabras por parte del Jester, la paleta de colores y demás detalles en el film es fenomenal... Y por último, la idea de comenzar por el final y cerrar de esa manera toda (sucediendo todo en una misma noche) fue genial!!

I literally saw this on facebook and decided to watch it here. was not disappointed. really love how the Jester acted. so nimble, fine and poised. I hope you will make more of The Jester soon. if its possible, do make a longer one too.

Writing like this is very Cerebral - it would be damned hard to make a feature length of it, that is doubtless why it took so long between segments - making is easy, making Good is more difficult . If I were Rich I would offer to buy the rights to it but if I actually had it the real difficulty would begin .

Idk I kinda think it should stay a short. Giving him a backstory and making like a real conflict i feel like would ruin it. I like him having an ominous backstory and little encounters that tie into each other but dont really have any significance.

I agree 100%. I too have read that is is supposed to be the final installment. But I truly hope they change their minds! Because this is proof that creativity isn't dead in the horror-film realm, not at all! These are excellent.

I like the Jester. He’s just trying to keep the spirit of Halloween alive. Halloween is my favorite holiday and it’s sad because, I feel like every year the number of houses giving out candy and kids trick or treating gets less and less. 😕 When I was growing up, all the houses were lit and decorated, so many people walking around going door to door but now, the streets are pretty dead. Wish Jester was real!! 😆
