So glad i got to see the Jam on every tour from 79 to 82. No band had the energy of these guys at their peak. They defined my teens.

If I could go back in time and do just one thing, it would be seeing The Jam live. They could light up a town with the energy they produced onstage. Just listen to the thundering climax to this song. Visceral, elemental, brilliant, a one - off. What a fucking band they were.

This written by a 21 year old. One of, if not the best, song he wrote. I never saw this coming in 1977 when I saw them for the only time.

This song summed up The Jam.Wellers social perception on life and the boys who were the heartbeat of this incredible band.Buckler and Foxton thumping out the beat and bass .So lucky to have seen them before the split.

The edgy poetry delivered in that aggressively rhythmic fashion ...he might have out grown it all but it forged his iconic status into my mind and many others ...but I suppose success usually inslaves creativity but if the handcuffs sparkle a bit the hands are offered up

WELLER SINGS SO BEAUTIFULLY WHEN HE SINGS LIKE A CORNERED ANIMAL! No one ever wrote a fucking song like this. The boy climbed into the body of a forgotten middle aged woman and wrote a metaphor for the decline of his nation. From gold to coal....Weller is worthy of Blake, Matthew Arnold, Ruskin, Shelly, Godwin and Wollstonecraft.

Oh my word. @ Crazybob07. We couldn't have cared less what they looked like, what they dressed in or what colour they were. The most utterly, musically juddering trio of all time. Three brilliant musicians with perfect two part harmonies yet because you have a personal beef with the way one of them looks you think they lacked persona? Are you American by any chance?

That there is a mullet. No complaints regarding Foxton's affinity for tailored suits though. Didn't detract from Entwistle, didn't hurt Foxton either.

Stupendous song and performance from one of the UK's greatest bands and amazing stuff from Paul Weller, but to me Rick Buckler and Bruce Foxton don't nearly enough praise and acclaim. This, I think, happens a lot when thinking about The Jam, because the focus is always on Paul. And maybe that's right given he was frontman and chief song writer. But those two guys were incredible, white hot, power house musicians in their own right - the greatest Brit rhythm section of the 1970S/80S, in my opinion - and absolutely vital to The Jam's sound. You don't have The Jam without them.

Amazing Band. Superficial i know but really wish Bruce Foxton had a better look during his time in the band. His haircut and general look was woeful and took away from the bands image. He reminds me of David Cassidy or something!! Cant help but stare at how out of place he looks beside Weller. If he had some of wellers flair for fashion and image it would have really gave them an awesome persona. He was a very good bassist though. Not knocking that.
