I miss Ireland so much. 😥 Have been there 8 times since 2008 and it is always like coming home. Hopefully we all get back to normal as soon as possible and can enjoy a healthy and peaceful life.

What does the title actually mean? There are regular flights too and from Éire going to the USA and Europe. Daily ferries to and from Great Britain. Seems like the island is still open for tourism right now.

While our airports and ferry ports are open, the authorities in the Republic of Ireland are currently advising against non-essential overseas travel and all international visitors are still required to fill in a passenger locator form and expected to restrict their movements for up to 14 days as well as some other safety precautions.

Aye. This was 2 years ago. Looking back in horror at the lockdowns, restrictions, villification of young people who only wanted to mix with friends. Gosh it was an awful time. Some laws or rules were over the top. The sensible ones got on with their lives insofar as they were let do. Ireland looks like the place of BATANES in the Philippines

They are saying even if you are unvaccinated from the US, you still need a negative PCR test PLUS Quarantine for 14 Days. As if I'm going to happily use my vacation time to quarantine...NOPE!!! They better come up with something better than that!!

I think Ireland has gone through a major image change. I mean, the old image of Leprechauns, shamrock, Guinness, horses running through council estates, toothless simpletons, people with eyebrows on their cheeks, badly tarmaced drives, men in platform shoes being arrested for bombings, lots of rocks, and Beamish. I think people are saying "yes, there's more to Ireland than this." A good slogan for the tourist board actually - "Dere's more to Oireland dan dis."

Yep. Crazy time. Locals watching out for car reg nos from different county or an accent that didn't fit the locality. This was a cringe time that is best forgotten. Older people peeping out from behind partly open doors. Some still do it Better of dead than to go through similar again
