The Iron Primarchs - Ferrus Manus vs Perturabo Comparison

Ойын-сауық

Sometimes it is hard to differentiate between the Iron warriors and the iron hands, especially for the warhammer 40k beginners and layman, given that even the primarchs are very similar to each other in terms of specialities and their love for creating weaponry and forging machines of war. Perturabo is the primarch or the daddy of the iron warriors, space marines who are siegemasters and techno savy, with a love for war machines and artillery. On the other hand Ferrus Manus is the Primarch of the Iron hands who are also space marines that are techno savy and have a penchant for armoured warfare and leading from the front with big ass tanks and guns. So, now lets take a look at the primarchs in question and compare their upbringing, their roles in the imperium pre heresy, their strengths, weaknesses and where they diverge from each other. And then at the end of the video we will compare them side by side to see which one would be better in a one on one fight.

Ferrus Manus is the representation of humanity’s ambition for strength. He obtained machinist ideas after Asirnoth absorbed into him, which would corrupt him but not consume him. If only the Xth Legion would improve themselves naturally by training and combat, and not with augmetics, they would be the physically strongest legion. Ferrus Manus will always be my favorite primarch and the Black Library needs to give him more good lore. The only reason Ferrus lost to Fulgrim (one of the most skilled Primarchs) was that the Keeper of Secrets within the Laer Blade pulled a surprise attack when Ferrus was about to kill Fulgrim. I will admit that Perturabo was more inventive and his legion’s speciality in siege warfare is impressive.

"They are not my hands. This fact is forgotten by my brothers -- inexplicably, it has always seemed to me. The hands are strong, to be sure, and have created great things for us all, but they are not mine. And that counts for something. They forget that the silver on my arms comes from a beast that I vanquished. It is the mark of a great evil that I ended, and yet it persists within me... I would struggle to remove it now... I will not remove the silver from my flesh because I have learned to depend on it. The fault is with my mind. I rely on the augmentation given to me by my metal gauntlets, so much so that the flesh beneath them is now little more than a distant memory... A day will come when I will strip it from me, lest I lose the power to master myself forever. Already my Legion's warriors replace their shield hands with metal in my honour, and so they too are learning to doubt the natural strength of their bodies. They must be weaned off this practice before it becomes a mania for them. Hatred of what is natural, of what is human, is the first and greatest of the corruptions. So I record it here: when the time comes, I will strip my hands of their unnatural silver. I will instruct my Legion to recant their distrust of the flesh. I will turn them away from the gifts of the machine and bid them relearn the mysteries of flesh, bone and blood. When my father's Crusade is over, this shall be my sacred task. When the fighting is done, I shall cure my Legion and myself. For if fighting is all there is, if we may never pause to reflect on what such devotion to strength is doing to us, then our compulsion will only grow." "You are all my sons, and the fires of the forge burn as hot in your hearts as they do in mine. Chain them, master them, and you shall wield a deadly weapon. But allow them to rule you, and you shall be lost." "They worship the strength of the machine and see the flesh as weak. They look down upon humans are flawed and ignorant, and kill their own emotions so that they will be more efficient warriors. All this, they do because they believe their weakness resulted in the death of their Primarch. If only he could see them now, his suffering would please the Dark Gods even more than his death at his brother's hand did ..." From an Eldar Oracle on the Iron Hands. I think that the Iron Hands would be better off without all that technological-cybernetic transhumanism from which their own Primarch had tried in every way to defend them. Many of them have fallen to Chaos (Slaanesh-Nurgle) because of that! They would look like simple but tough blacksmiths-warriors, exactly as Ferrus Manus wished. Even better: they become just like the Sons of Antaeus! But if they really insist, they do transform their arms to make them metallic, in imitation of their father, but through the volcanic mud of their homeworld. (Ferrus Manus unites the clans of Medusa, which once united become one strong clan with the name of Ironhand Clan, in his honor and with his symbol) The Iron Hands learn to tame and command the great Bulls of Medusa (spiked beasts). A Battle Cry that is no longer "The Flesh is Weak!" but rather "Deeds Endure!". Remember when I said that the Iron Hans become like the Sons of Antaeus? Well Ferrus Manus strengthens his geneseed, with his sons becoming unbeatable just like the Sons of Antaeus. In a word, perfect! (To also defend them from their blind obsession)

Perturabo could actually be a great military commander if he just cared about thr lives of his men. The fact he just considered them to be nothing more than bolts in a magazine should say something about the casualty rate.

Your description about Perturabo vs Fulgrim is a bit rong.. he doesent just "slap " fuilgrim.. he kills him in combat. thats how fulgrim becomes a demon prince.. when perturabo kills him int he Angel Exterminatus book.. Also the fight vs Angron its actualy a legion vs legion fight not 1v1. and Perturabo traps angron and captures him, not hard to outsmart angro tho. also u can argue at the siege of terra if perturabo didnt leave the whole thing would go diferently he was winning vs dorn. and ofc u cant forget when he outsmarted Dorn at the battle of the iron cage, when he almost wiped out the imperial fists legion./ so yeah.. hes not just really strong.. a dreadnaught primarch but also has a genius intelect and really good commander

Ferrus using a two-handed weapon still bothers me. He has a literal articulated weapon catcher as a hand and fore-arm...and yet, as a genius, couldn't figure out how this would benefit him in any man to man combat. Imagine a Roman Legionnaire who could just grab you and pull you onto the Gladius after blocking your strike with that same arm he blocked your strike with. Now add a plasma firing band to the upper fore-arm and make the Gladius an energy weapon.

I'm not aware of any event in which Peter Turbo actually fought Fulgrim. As a full-on fight So I won't speak to that, but it seems very Suspect. The Battle Against Agron wasn't a fight. It was a Trap Angron walked straight into like the fool he is then he got Overwatched and put down. He is easy to bait this is proven time and again. That being said I don't think that there is any question who would win legion to legion as the Iron warrior are second only to the Imperial Fists in combat effectiveness as far as lore is concerned. Now a 1v1 I think would be much closer. Neither of them were great warriors by themselves. I think it's not a clear-cut win for either. If Perturabo could range control Ferris wheel then he would probably win but if Ferrus got in close, I think he would gain the upper hand. I give advantage to Purty but Feral No-Head could still pull it off.

He can attack better than dorn,, maybe not defend but then he did give him the run around. He punched in fulgrim. I don't know much about iron hands as he got cut out the story pretty early on, in his books he just seems dull and grumpy. Perturabo is very unforgiving and personaly I think he would destroy ferrus

It was just barely mentioned as a casual detail, but Ferrus was killed by regular Fulgrim while fighting with the full intention to kill, while Perturabo defeated Demon Angron and hold his own against Demon Fulgrim while being badly wounded by having half of his "soul" stolen. We could argue about the pros and cons of Perturabo as a leader, but as a combatant, this isn't close.

Not at all - Ferrus overpowers Fulgrim and hesitates, while Fulgrim acquires a boost from the daemon of the sword. Only later Fulgrim ascends fully, on that Croneworld. That said it was never stated that Daemon Primarchs are actually stronger than they were originally.

@@kubapiwowarczyk599 It would stand to reason that by receiving a blessing of chaos (powers) you become more powerful, or if we try too hard to humor your argument, at least get extra physical attributes from getting physically bigger and having much faster regeneration. If you want to assume "chaos" only gives you mutations, turns you crazy, and compromises your soul, the whole concept of worshiping chaos becomes even more ridiculous than it already is in the setting if you think about it- unless you also want to believe that it gives powers to everybody else but primarchs. About Ferrus, if you assume he hesitates after being betrayed and slaughtered left and right at Isstvan, in your attempt to defend his martial prowess you would be talking pretty bad of his leadership and mental qualities. It is stated that the guy was so blinded by rage while trying to kill Fulgrim that he forgot about self-preservation or adequately commanding the legions- he was the commander-in-chief of the mission, after all.
