The Irishman: Filmmaking Techniques

WARNING: Contains SPOILERS!
Video essay highlighting some of the filmmaking techniques (cinematography, editing and acting) in Martin Scorsese's 'The Irishman' (2019). Written, narrated & edited by Mark Duggan.
This video follows on from my previous Martin Scorsese video, which highlighted some of the editing techniques visible in his narrative feature films - from his first feature, 'Who's That Knocking at My Door' (1967), to 'Silence' (released in 2016). Check it out: • Martin Scorsese: Editi...

Brilliant analysis... it's amazing to me that "The Irishman" didn't take home one Oscar.

This is by far the best analysis i've seen on that great movie. i've always noticed the couple of seconds that holds after they get out of the room in the hotel but never really been able to understand them. thank you for bringing it up we can talk about this movie for hours great movie and great analysis man.

The movie was long, but it was worth it. Anyway, Scorsese, Deniro, and Pesci can do any goddamn thing they want, and I'll watch it. For real.

Really good insights on a film that I didn’t think I could possibly like more than I already did before watching your analysis. I’ve watched this like 10 + times in the last few years. Totally believe Scorsese achieved his thematic and narrative goals btw 👍 kudos for achieving a new viewer of your analyses -cheers!
