I've been using my 'midnight' colored iPhone SE 3 for just under 1 month and I absolutely adore it! I paid $429 + tax for this phone and I'm *already* seeing it on some Mobile Virtual Network Operator carriers' websites for $329! Talk about *VALUE* !!! For these prices you can't get any better value out there! Nick, some of us *don't care* about all the stuff you do.

I couldn’t disagree with you more. I switched from android to iPhone and chose this phone strictly because of the design (I know I am in the minority). I don’t need multiple cameras, I hate notches in my screen, I don’t like Face ID, and I do not like gesture to home. The iPhone SE 2022 with the old style, smaller case, and home button with the newest chip is perfect for me. I know some people feel they need more in a device and I get that, but for me this is all the phone I ever want. I love my se.

@@pakee2352 especially for what this phone is directed towards, its directed towards people who dont use their phone often and just want something that they can rely on and dont wanna spend a lot of money. a lot of people who like iphone also like the fingerprint sensor, and most people dont wanna give that up until apple finds a way to put touch id on their current all screen iphones.

I would say it is special for those of us who don’t want all of the ‘features’ of ‘normal’ phones. I use a mini just because it’s smaller and I like OLED, but that’s it. I love the not stretched, rectangular screen on the SE. I love the small, single camera system, TouchID, the price, and the lack of mmWave and U1. I like that they keep the design the same and just put new chips in it - that’s literally part of what makes it a desirable device.

Exactly! SE 2022 it´s a great phone

I came from a midnight black 13 to my Product Red SE 2022 and truthfully, I don’t miss the 13 all that much except maybe for the battery life. Some people can do without the multiple camera sensors, FaceID and all the other little bells and whistles the flagships come out with. Just being apart of the ecosystem and having a super fast, future proof device is more than enough!

I bought this EXACTLY because it's boring and an old design, that's the best smartphone design ever

I’d say it’s recommendable. For those who like the OG iPhone design. I have to agree with you this SE 3 could’ve been better like 4K front, telephoto or ultra wide and the battery..I guess that’s understandable

The iPhone se3 is a weird phone. It excels where most budget phones choose to cut and it cuts where most budget phones choose to excel. If you don’t care as much about the screen or battery life, then the se3 is definitely recommendable.

It’s not for everyone. Higher specced (and more expensive) iPhones are available up the range for those who want them. For a utility user who is satisfied with a simple camera, wants to keep the home button, wants to stay with iPhone and doesn’t want to spend a grand, it’s ideal. It’s not for me, it’s definitely the perfect choice for my Mom.

Unfortunately this phone was dissed more by credible reviewers than any other and I really resent that From what I recall the reviewers praised the SE2 until the cows came home yet the SE three has longer battery life and a faster chip, it makes no sense to me. There are lots of other choices if someone wants a newer type of phone they can buy an 11 or a 12 or 13

Because it's the most popular Apple design that the people don't want to see discontinued. That's why Apple is on the 3rd Gen SE.

I still have my original iPhone SE (2016) and it's not bad at all on iOS 15.5

I mean, it makes sense. They are able to use the same molds and manufacturing machines from the 6, 7, and 8 lineups, as well as similar materials like the screens. It would also be difficult to upgrade the design without creating too much competition with their base 12 & 13 models. We saw the same thing happen this year with the MacBook Pros. This is the first time I would ever recommend a MacBook Air over an MBP. I do think that with the ever growing “monopoly” they have developed, their user base that needs a phone at a better budget price does deserve better. They say their products are for everyone so they should be priced as such. It’s hard because these devices are seen as luxury items, but as society leans into digitization, personal devices like this are becoming (if not already) necessity.

I think Special Edition because I missed out on iPhone 8 but not really with SE 2020 and now 2022 blows me away compared with iPhone 📱 8!

I love my SE3. In my opinion, it’s a much better phone than the SE2. The battery life has been great for me, the photo quality is much better, and the addition of 5G has made a huge difference. This was definitely meant to be a refinement of the SE2. I’m sure we will have a new SE in another 2 years, and I’m sure that one will have dual cameras and move away from the home button.

It's a great phone. I get through *more* than a day with it! Rear-facing camera is excellent! I don't care about the front-facing camera. The guts of this phone *rock*! A15 Bionic, 5G (sub6 only) and I am seeing this phone on some websites for $329 + tax (64GB of course). Can't beat that value!

For now it looks like I will get another year of updates for my iPhone 8 that I bought new in November 2019 and I just got a battery put in in about six months ago and it’s at 99% battery health. I also don’t wanna have to throw away several expensive OtterBox defender and commuter cases so the SE3 for me is the only way to go

I may sound crazy. But, I am currently using a 13 Pro Max & S22 Ultra. However, I am tempted to switching to the SE 3 because of the nostalgic design, Touch ID, and the fact that it fits perfectly on my hand. I know I have a powerhouse of an iPhone, but the nostalgia and compactness of it is swaying me.

Best phone out right now super up to speed and pretty cheap and the og I phone 6 feel and the home button will always be the best

I'm test driving it right now, coming from a 12 pro max. I'm actually impressed and I'm loving touch ID. There are situations that come up somewhat regularly where touch ID is more convenient than Face ID. And I kind of like the design. Call me crazy. I felt like the 12 pro max was just way too big for me. I may still test drive the 13 or 13 pro, but so far, I'm enjoying the SE3 more than i was expecting. It's just a differe way of life, in a way. As for the battery, It's 1:45 in the afternoon and I already have 6 hours on screen time today. The battery? it's at 47%. That's not too shabby, and certainly not as bad as some people are making it sound. I use my canon camera for photography, so I don't care as much about that. However, the shots are about the same, in general, as what I was taking with my phone before. The only downside right now is whether I can get used to the smaller screen. That's really what I'm going to be testing the next few days or so. If they released an SE Max based on the 8 Plus design, I'd jump on that in a new york minute, no doubt about it.

I completely disagree here. I think you cant pull yourself out of enthusiast la la land and realize most people who buy this phone DO NOT CARE about any of that stuff. Its got the A15 chip and that's all they care about. i understand you don't like it but you've gotta be more realistic and unbiased about stuff like this. not everyone wants or needs what you do and this phone is PEFECTLY FINE for a LOT of people. Personally im glad they still make it. if you don't like it buy the 13 or 13 pro that's why they have different models.

Watching from SE 2022. Tried the iPhone 13 Mini first, but I actually think the SE screen looks nicer. Guess I’m one of the few who prefers LCD over OLED. And the screen looks WAY better than the iPhone 6 I upgraded from.

I’ve been using this phone for 2 months now. No real complaints, except when I turn my phone off at night sometimes the battery will drain 30-40%. I realized I had to turn off “Find My network”. And it the draining goes away. If I turn it off I just turn it back on after my phone boots. Lack of 3D Touch is the only thing I hate.

I thought apple missed an opportunity in 2022 with the SE3 when I found out that it was going to be a newer version of the SE 2020 I was puzzled?? I thought if they wanted a familiar older phone design to bring back it could be the 8 plus!! You can make the second camera an ultra wide it would also have a much bigger battery than the I phone 8 copycat and it would still have the touch ID that a lot of people love. If people love the iPhone 8 clone they could still buy an SE 2020 and still have years of updates!! I agree with you a 100 percent Nick every phone coming out has more then one camera and in my opinion an 8 plus would have kept it simple but a little more modern.

I like knowing your opinions because I’m getting this phone real soon.

One of the things I absolutely hate about my iPhone 12mini is that at a brightness setting at about 66% (auto-EVERYTHING turned off), the display will dim within minutes to protect itself from over heating. It’s absolutely annoying and when using my phone in the car in broad daylight, it renders it pretty much useless. Do you or anyone know how quickly each current iPhone dims its screen from say max brightness, with auto-brightness turned off?

got my SE 3 today. love it

I traded my 6s for the SE3 and it works great for me. Lightweight, does everything that 13 does, for the rest I have an iPad. I would like it to be more like the ipad mini with touch id, but I would also buy SE2 just because of touch id. It honestly serves the purpose, and that's the whole point.Not all of us are consumerists to buy new every year, some of us are just users and this is great phone for that

my XR finally died. been using se 3 for about a month. i do notice the faster speed. i'm happy with it. although, i hope apple comes out with an XR version with the new chip tho. edit: yeah, if apple put a better front camera and switch out to oled display, the se 4 would sell like hotcakes

I actually still like this se3 design

Handy, light weight and viewable battery life on main screen override every cons to me.

Iphone 2020 SE user here and I think Nick is spot on. Apple is so cheap, they know exactly where to cut to make you feel you are using a peasant phone so that you can upgrade. And they also know where not to cut so that you feel like you got a deal, even a steal. This iPhone has served me well. The battery empties fast with any internet or bluetooth use but it also charges fast with the USB-C. All in all, I give it a thumbs up. Even with the A13 it's plenty fast enough to make you feel like a champ - on the cheap.

SE2020 replaced 6S. Now with cracked screen I’m wondering if new SE3 is worth $429 or go with something else? I like the size Size/ weight and home button.

I don’t know, I love the SE. I’m currently on the SE2 and am planning on getting the SE3 and sticking with the SE lineup for as long as they keep on making it.

Only reason reviewers don’t like this phone is because nothing is changed and there was nothing new for reviewers to talk about EXCEPT the chip when it came out. A lot of people don’t like change and I think change every year is absolutely ridiculous it’s frustrating for those of us that have elderly parents we don’t want change. I personally love the home button. This is the original concept for the iPhone there’s lots of choice with every other iPhone people can buy this one can be left alone it has a purpose. It’s not about “lazy” with one of the fastest chips in the world. Why should I pay $400 more for an iPhone mini in Canada on top of 11% tax. I don’t see the point.

Is it still low tier if you buy the 256gb model - Then put a Gray Advent titanium case on it?

They should use the iPhone mini shells for the next iPhone SE

In my opinion it should b called CE, for 'Classic Edition' as it's aimed at people who prefer what many would consider a classic design. I don't personally think it's lazy. It seems perfectly intentional, most people who don't want an older design would simply just buy the other variants available. The iPhone SE series is for people like myself who doesn't want an all screen notched display, but a smaller screen and a home button. But they could have improved the camera game I won't lie

I've been hoping for a refresh of the 5s for years now. When I got my current iPhone 8, I chose the smallest one they had, which is just barely small enough for me. My favourite phone in terms of size has been my iPhone 4 or 5s. The only thing I want from my phone is an OLED display, but unfortunately nothing below $700 has that.

I've always been one who feels tech should always be evolving with consumers being able to enjoy that newness at an affordable price eventually. I'd much rather have seen Apple continue the XR line, which had a much bigger display and a more modern look at the time. Just discount it a little more. Even at I believe $599, it far outsold any of these SE phones. So the idea that most are so nostalgic that they positively and absolutely have to have this ancient design, just doesn't jibe with actual facts. Apple knows that if they make a more modern looking and affordable budget phone, it'll eat into the profits of their much more expensive line. The least expensive coming in at $800. 🤦🏿‍♂️

I love this phone. I don’t think it’s to target lower income people. It’s like Ram trucks the 1500 classic is a model that was a new gen in 2013. It’s still the best selling out of their fleet to this day. This phone loaded up with power is wild. I also believe it shouldn’t change a thing to how thick thin small or what you have it. You might as well call it the iPhone classic.

Best phone for the budget and the size is wonderful.

I've got a Pixel 6 Pro - which I love -- but I'm getting one of these because I want a 'gateway' into the Apple eco-system (would like an Apple Watch but can't use one without a device to link it to etc). So it will be my second phone, used for light tasks (messaging and fitness, podcasts, and Apple Music). It will be fine for that ;)

My 80 year old mother asked me to help her get rid of her landline and finally get with the wireless times….she had no idea what phone she should get. As I’m a lifelong Apple user I suggested for affordability that she get a new SE. There are people who have zero expectations like my mother who will be thrilled with this phone when it arrives as she has nothing to compare it to and she lives on a fixed income… So, I’m very happy to recommend this phone to all the people who will be truly happy with it for their own reasons. It’s a fine phone for a lot of people…

I really believe this phone is built for people like my wife. She will use an iPhone as long as it is basically an iPhone 8 or any better iteration of that. I am still Rocking my Rose Gold ORIGNAL 2016 SE. Battery Health 84%. Just got the IOS 15.7.1 Update last month. I get a full day to a day a day and a half on a single charge, Of course I am that guy who uses a Phone to make phone calls, send texts, takes an occasional picture. If I want to Watch a Movie or a KZread Video I have a 65 inch Smart TV for that. I am Not an Egomaniac who feels that Every time I take a bite out of a Sandwich, or go for a walk that I need to make an EPIC MOVIE about it and Post it for the world to see. Video gaming is for Shut-Ins get outside, read, go play, go out and meet folks. Enjoy Mother Nature instead of Burning you eyes out Staring at a Phone Screen. I have taken people to see the Grand Canyon here in ARIZONA Only to have them sit in the vehicle and Look at Videos and Pictures of it on their phones.

Even though so many people want big upgrades on the SE other than the chip… Apple sort of needs to keep the budget down. In my opinion the SE is for people (and kids) who don’t need an amazing crazy camera, a lot of storage, or a big screen. And it’s for people who don’t have an infinite budget.
