“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” (Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭11‬, ‭17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬) “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews‬ ‭4‬:‭12‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

I’m sitting here listening to this sermon and completely blown away by not only what is being preached but by the silence of the church. There’s an amen but rarely and they laugh out loud to his jokes. I’m getting excited and getting full of joy by the word. Why do these people seem dead? I’m not of this denomination but I do enjoy this Pastors preaching. Unlike many pastors who use a verse or two then story time. Are these people not allowed to praise God during the service? Just wondering because he just spoke about Holy Spirits power moving through the word of God. That alone should get your soul to moving. Powerful sermon on the Word of God.

These ppl are mostly in the faith after hearing the gospel different than others. I used to go to churches where the pastor constantly pointed out quietness during preaching. It's all in the heart and culture really. They had an African dude here and he couldn't believe how quiet they were either. He said: "don't be afraid to make noise and interrupt me with comments and questions". Interestingly, a lot of them come from charismatic and Pentecostal churches where we are though that worshipping in "spirit and in truth" means out loud and constantly. The theme here is teaching and listening. Ig the arg😢would be "can someone really be saved and not worship out loud" and that's a slippery road to take.

My Pastor at the time when I preached my first service told me to use two to three Bible verses. He told me we lose people with more than three verses. And to keep it below an hour bc people don’t listen after 30 mins. I was blown away by that bc I had like 15-20 verses. I was preaching out of nehemiah on how the people all the people stood up when the book of the law was opened. My sermon title was Be holy because God is Holy. No I longer sit under that pastor bc he was wrong. It is the word of God that changes a man not lose them.

AMEN!!! It’s very difficult today to find an expositor of the text and teach the Bible walk through it instead of use a few verses out of context for a topical, it’s so damaging to the church. People will be saved by God despite this , but I would assume they will not stick around, It’s Gods word we feed on live on breathe and speak , we bleed bibline we drool the foundation of life when we raise our head , we survive from Gods word, we base our life in and through it and we share it every opportunity. All to the Glory of God alone

Just curious, and with respect, do you use the original languages for the _entire_ Bible, or just for the Name of Jesus? Do you use the "original" names for _everyone_ in Scripture? If not, are you being consistent or merely trendy (in certain circles)? "Jesus" is the English transliteration of the Greek name "Iesous". Please refresh my memory, isn't the New Testament written in Greek and aren't we, more often than not, currently reading it in English in the West? Just something to think about.

How can we preach on the word of God and talk about his holiness him giving us no excuse when we sin against him at one point then on another give a sermon on perseverance of the saints and say no matter what we do we can never lose our salvation? Doesn't that take away from the job of the word to warn us? Then you go and say even after knowing the fear of the Lord that a beliver can never be threatened with damnation know matter what they do although the word of God is full of warnings of such things? I don't understand this. I used to believe it, but God showed me otherwise.

Reminds me of the scripture: “Search these commandments, for they are true and faithful, and the prophecies and promises which are in them shall all be fulfilled. 38 What I the Lord have spoken, I have spoken, and I excuse not myself; and though the heavens and the earth pass away, my word shall not pass away, but shall all be fulfilled, whether by mine own voice or by the voice of my servants, it is the same.” D&C 1:37-38

If God doesn't allow you to hear and see the Word of God for what it is, you won't know it. God has blinded the Jews until the fullness of the Gentiles has come to pass. Read Romans 11:7-12 and 2 Corinthians 3:14,15 and 4:3,4 and St. John 6:37,44,65. NO ONE CAN COME TO JESUS IF THE FATHER FIRST DRAW THAT PERSON. THE FATHER DECIDES WHOM HE WILL DRAW AND THOSE WHO WILL NEVER BE DRAWN TO HIM. HE CREATED US ALL. THIS IS HIS WORLD. HE RULES AND REIGNS OVER ALL MEN.

You pitting God's grace against his judgment by questioning His sovereignty to be God excersise His perfect /Holy perspective. The question is not why choose some and reject others, the question is why save any He being Omnipotent to destroy all and start again. My friend God is indebted to none of us we are indebted to him a debt none of us can pay hence he sent his son to pay the debt we owe, not only that but having chosen us he regenerates each that is awakens into repentance and faith.

@@bubby9947 Calvinism is incorrect. The Father's holy Spirit was drawing men to Christ, *_BEFORE Jesus was lifted up,_* (crucified). Since Jesus’ death, resurrection and Ascension (Acts 2:32-33), it is Jesus who draws all men to Himself for salvation and gives the gift of eternal life. It is the Father's will to reconcile all things to Himself, through the Son (2Cor 5:18). The Spirit of Jesus Christ is the holy Spirit residing in each Believer, sent from the Father through the Son (John 14:21; 2Cor 13:5), not a third person, or third god. John 6:44 KJV *_No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him:_* and I will raise him up at the last day. John 12:32 KJV And I, *_if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me._* Galatians 4:6 KJV And because ye are sons, *_God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts,_* crying, Abba, Father.

The hymn Amazing Grace was written by a Calvinist. Newton God used a sermon preached by a Calvinist to spark the first great Awakening. Edwards Pilgrims Progress was written by a Calvinist. Bunyan The prince of preachers in England......Calvinist. Calling these men who were mightily used by God "evil" shows a horrific lack of spiritual discernment. Same goes for the other side.... Leonard Ravenhill, Keith Green, David Wilkerson, had some Wesleyan holiness/Arminian Pentecostal Finney Pelagian Charismatic influences but to call them evil and totally disregard them is equally wrong.
