what bailey bass said about never being sure who's the villain. that right there, that's the most important part of this story!! as long as they manage to capture that ambivalence then the show will be superb, i'm so excited to see how they'll try to pull it off

LOL anne wrote the vampires with the vision that they are monsters and that she had no interest in the POV of the victims because she said it didn't interest her. it's the monstrous vampire's struggle that interested her. all the vampires are meant to be read as monsters who struggle with being a vampire.

anne rice wanted above all else for the adaptation to be faithful to her books that took her something like 40 YEARS to complete. if you think she wouldn't have cared about fidelity, you either did not read her books or you have no respect for her legacy.

Both the late Anne Rice and her son Christopher are credited as Executive Producers. After she got the rights to her original works, she sold it to AMC and not just The Vampire Chronicles but all other titles. Yes, she was not happy about what they did with the movie (which is probably in YOUR opinion the “best” representation of the original work. That’s the funny part 🤣 btw) You have not the slightest clue of what she wanted in terms of the series that she and her son worked, all you can do for yourself is read more about current events and not act like you know more when clearly you do not.

@@nicolesakwe1973 wth are you talking about? anne rice never stopped praising the 1994 adaptation for interview with the vampire because the director, producer and actors all respected her book, and she herself wrote the screenplay for that movie. everybody hated the queen of the damned including anne rice herself. she did not write the script for that even after begging the studio for a long time to be hired to write the script and eventually she had zero involvement in that movie. if you had any interest in anne rice's actual vision for the adaptation of the entire vampire chronicles, her facebook live video has been reposted here on youtube in her own channel. you will find there exactly what she wanted for the adaptation, and that she specifically cited the 1994 movie as her benchmark both for fidelity and acceptable changes. she even said multiple times that she only wants full commitment to her books and not "half-commitments". also, she always wanted the POV of the show to be from lestat from the very beginning so much so that she said that book 2 has to be season 1. i'm not making anything up. you can look all of these up yourself.

There was a time that she was willing to change Louis into a female just to see her work on screen. She also eviscerated Tom Cruise's casting as Lestat but later issued an apology after watching his performance. SPEAKING FOR THE DEAD IS MEANINGLESS AND MERITLESS BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT HER. There has never been a 100% accurate adaptation of any "fantasy book". NOT EVEN THE PETER JACKSON"S LOTR TRILOGY. And yes, TVC are FANTASY BOOKS. And no, I don't want a book accurate adaptation of PRINCE LETAT AND THE REALMS OF ATLANTIS.

@@maggyfrog THE MOVIE SUCKS (Anne Rice herself wrote the screenplay). It's confusing (AND I READ THE NOVEL BEFORE THE MOVIE CAME OUT, unengaging. and boring. Watching the movie is as dull as reading the Wikipedia summary of the movie. Louis in the movie wanted to die (grieving the loss of his wife and child during childbirth) and yet he wanted to become a vampire because???? He was too scared to die when push comes to shove. NO that's the novel Louis. And the reason for Lestat choosing Louis as a companion? His money? NO, again that's Louis in the novels. The movie a just a bunch of plot points from the novel. Some of us fans just want a good adaptation of her work. Book fidelity doesn't necessarily mean good. The movie is the perfect example of that. It had her words, but it didn't have the spirit of her novel. YES, I AM HUGE FAN OF HERS (earlier works), I even bought almost of her books knowing I wouldn't like it. There is a reason why most of her book sales was in the mid 80"s to early 90's you know? I understand that you are a book purist and that's fine. But to say that the movie is a great adaptation of the novel is being delusional. ANNE RICE FANS ARE KNOWN FOR THEIR FIERCE LOYALTY BUT NOT FOR THEIR GOOD TASTE.

This series if fantastic and beautiful. Lestate is perfection!

@@ariachoice She wrote the screenplay for this quite a while ago with her son and they took it through several edits over the last few years. If there was a change to the main plot points, it was with her (and her son's) approval.
