You gotta love how every Advance Wars fan instantaneously recognized that "Highlighted Menu Item Select Confirmation Jingle" (even if they didn't immediately remember which game it was from until the marquee letters said "Orange Star") that plays when you confirm a choice in the Advance Wars games. There are certain menu interaction sound effects in games that are ingrained in the subconscious of every fan who plays them.

Definitely one of the biggest surprises in the direct it was revealed. I may not have played AW but I am always happy to see an old series make a resurgence. I hope fans finally get another game after this.

@Aziria Shingen I honestly kinda like it. The models have a toy soldier look that I think fits for more cartoon aesthetic. But hey, opinions are opinions.

@Aziria Shingen Like I said, the older games were more cartoony looking. I know Days of Ruin had a more serious tone, and I think if they did that game, it would be better if it looked more gritty.

If this does well we’ll first get a remake of Advance Wars: Dual Strike - and if that does well too THEN we get a new entry to the series. Then there is also Days of Ruin, which is technically speaking part of the series too but simultaneously its own thing, so that might come crashing in at some point too…

Everybody went apeshit for Metroid Dread. But this... this was my favorite reveal for E3.

Wow, Stephen Plays actually showed hype! Usually his reactions are so understated even if he clearly likes something. Fun fact despite appearing in this compilation and recognizing the game immediately I have never actually played Advance Wars. I recognized it because I used to be in a roleplay that had like five characters from it. So if any Smash Academy veterans are out there, hey.

I HAVE COME FROM THE FUTURE! REBOOT CAMP IS ONE OF THE BEST REMAKES I'VE EVER ENCOUNTERED. ALSO, THE SOUNDTRACK IS A COMPLETE BANGER. VOICE ACTING IS LARGELY ON-POINT AND DOESN'T OVERSTATE ITS WELCOME. TO TOP IT ALL OFF, ELECTRO-SWING SENSEI AND SKA COLIN. THAT IS ALL.

It's kind of sad how Advance Wars was a niche series in its heyday, despite the games being really good. Please give them a chance! The series is known for its addictive gameplay and near-infinite REPLAY VALUE! You can even create your own maps and this time around, you'll be able to play online! PLEASE support Advance Wars!

the one remake no one saw coming (let alone happening) announced at E3 but ultimately welcomed it at the end of the day it certainly blew my mind it happened in the first place

I wouldn't say AW was ever HUGE, but it WAS a very well known franchise back in the GBA era. This is moreso a case of a lot of older gamers just recognizing a franchise they may have not necessarily played but did hear a lot about back in the day, similar to how Fire Emblem was during that time.

Its basically a pretty well memorized highlight for millenials. And one of the better games for the game boy advance (thats where it even has its name from). People loved it as a kid.

I’ve never played Advance Wars, but considering the hype behind it, I have to play it one day. 1:21 Alexandria’s reaction was hilarious 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Honestly, as much as i love it. Alot of it is actually nostalgia from millenials. People born between 1986 and 1995. Since the original game was a well memorized and adored game from our childhood

Slight correction the guys at 4:41 are a channel called GigaBoots. The video you found was just a highlight from their stream.

I don’t have a Switch but I’ll buy it anyway because hot damn I love this series, man.

Kind of awkward to see that only one out of every three-to-six people in a given direct reaction stream actually seem excited/recognized the game. Advance Wars has its passionate fans, but they're kind of niche.

I've never played an Advance Wars game, let alone heard of it. Didn't know of its existance until the assist trophy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and now the spirits in Ultimate. (I don't remember if Advance Wars had representation in Smash 4.)

Since the apocalypse styled advanced wars Ds game I thought I was the only who liked the series 😂

I find it hilarious that a Hidden Gem from the GBA Era gets the "HD" treatment from Nintendo, yet a Well known and Popular Game Like Knights of the Old Republic just gets a port with no polish whatsoever.

advance wars wasnt huge well not that huge but it was peoples childhoods. i played dual strike when i was younger

Amazed at everyone's enthusiasm! if I'm lucky, I can get the GBA's SRW OG1+2 (but they could just import the Playstation remake to Switch..?)

I seriously lost my shit when I saw this. Even though I only ever got to play the Dual Strike version, the series is very nostalgic. It was my first intro Strategy, Turn-Based and otherwise, and I loved it. I see a ton of people giving crap over how the game has been late due to Ukraine, or how it is extremely niche. I don't care. The series ended with a mediocre attempt to make a multiplayer version for the DS that stripped the entire story of the series prior out of it. And some games since then (Days of Ruin came out in 2008, only a year after the iPhone hit the shelves for the first time) have won awards or recommendation status entirely based on their likeness to Advance Wars (Warbits, on iOS, actually won an Editor's Choice and had a reference to Advance Wars in it's highlight, but the reference has since been removed, probably to not piss off the sleeping Nintendo lawyers.) So I want to see Nintendo give the series the remodel it deserves, and if they feel it is inappropriate to place the game next to the war between Ukraine and Russia (apparently the characters in the 1+2 combo, as well as the original separate games, are sourced and based from around that region, so they don't want to release it in poor taste) then so be it. They know what they're doing. I've said this with Detective Pikachu, with the Mario Movie, and I'll say it here: if this is the company who is willing to spend TWO WEEKS explaining to Disney how Bowser would drink his TEA (it isn't even visible, but it's tea, apparently) out of a Styrofoam cup with a plastic straw for a fucking kids movie, I think they've got this. They have their shit together.
