    No matter what song he sings, Mike sings like no one else. His bass is just amazing and his high is also a must to hear. Love his smooth bass.

    WOW!!! Never ever heard Mike Holcombe sing so high or so low. He's singing it and praising GOD.

    I love Mike's vocal range! he nails those super low notes when he wants to, but he's not limited to the low range, he has an incredible mid range voice as well... a true pro.

    You mentioned about The Inspirations being a Godly bunch of Men...and that's the way that it should be. I've seen things out of some so-called "Southern Gospel Groups", that led me to believe, that all they're trying to do, is collect a paycheck. Some of the people in some of these groups seemed like they weren't Christians at all! I could name names! When you have the Then-Emcee of The Kingsmen Quartet, playing with the Tenor Singer's hair, and even patting him on the backside, while that Tenor Singer is trying to sing a song, that's bad enough. If you don't believe me, look it up for yourself. It's right here on KZread! If you watch a clip by The Kingsmen Quartet called "Look for me at Jesus' Feet, there's a little piece of footage in that particular clip, that shows this guy patting Garry Sheppard on his backside. People: That's totally inappropriate! Then, he does it again, this time to Squire Parsons, when Squire is singing either "It made news in Heaven", or "The lovely name of Jesus ". Guys shouldn't be touching other guys that way. At all! There's loads of evil doings, that are found in Southern Gospel Music that I could point out, but I'd be here for quite a while doing so. The Inspirations were decent, Christian folks, and those of them that are still alive are still that way!

    To me, this is the BEST group the Inspirations have ever had. Bro. Mike Halcomb can preach as well as he sings. He now sings with the Old Time Preachers Quartet when he's not preaching.

    Sadly, there's no one left now, as it relates to The Inspirations Quartet. Brother Michael T. Holcomb left in 2013, Brother Martin Cook died sometime within the past year or so, and who knows what Brother Archie Watkins is doing. Brother Deitz is long-gone, and I'm not sure if he's even alive anymore. Brother Jack Laws passed away, and, quite honestly, I don't even know who the Baritone Singer was for the group, before he left. It is what it is, and I know that, sooooo..... Whatever.

    The piano player, Martin Cook, started this group with a bunch of college friends. He is a relative of mine and he played piano in our little church every Sunday when I was 10 years old. . That was the Balsam Grove Baptist church on Caney Fork, NC. A wonderful and very talented group. W. Massingale

    I admit to being an "Inspirations groupie", but I don't think I have ever heard a bass singer with more musicality than Mike Holcomb! He absolutely is amazing when he's hitting those low notes and is still carrying the tune so beautifully!! He will be soooo missed. God Bless!

    your my favorite bass singer in the world today. you have the JD Sumner low with big chief's pure tone all mixed up with a little Blue Ridge Mountain twist. between you and Archie combine to produce a unique awesome style. God bless you and your family and all The Inspirations members. PS: i heard you are pastoring a Church or that you started a ministry or something to that effect. if you are pastoring a Church in Carolina i would love to come some Sunday. i am right down the road in VA.

    Have you ever heard Mike sing lead? I have a tape with them doing the "Preacher Boy Quartet" and they swap parts and Mike sings lead, Troy sing bass, Archie, Baritone and Eddie sings tenor, and it's wonderful! Mike does a fantastic job on lead on that song. How many quartets do you know who can swap parts around like that? Not many!

    There is nothing "impressive" about Mike Holcomb and his vocal fry. There is no body to his voice whatsoever, and it's unfortunate that so many untrained ears consider him a bass singer.

    Right. that is why he won sooo many awards and lasted sooo many years. Because everyone in the gospel industry and all fans are uneducated musically. I sang in a televised choir for years w/ my mom and we were musically trained, and we knew he was excellent. if you prefer others, fine but don't be absurd. try to find the joy of God in your life. Being an elitist is not ok when its delusional.

  • @TheMadMusicMan

    @TheMadMusicMan

    @@dejknapp2529 You cannot deny that Holcomb uses fry for every note in the 1st octave. The only delusional people here are the ones who fail to admit that this so-called low singing is actually just amplified fry. If you like Holcomb's modal register singing, that's good. But, to claim that he's a great low bass singer in the leagues of J. D. Sumner is foolish. Take his microphone away and his "low notes" won't be heard unless you're within a few feet from him, and there's no other music playing.
