The "born in the wrong body" crap is a strawman argument circulated by the GC crowd. No transsexual, or clinician who works in the field, ever says anything so idiotic. People get corrective surgery for all sorts of reasons, but usually to feel comfortable with themselves and to make what seems to them an appropriate social presentation.

Amateurs decided these children should be affirmed and professionals who didn't know any better bought into it. A collective madness ensued.

Over the coming years we are going to see a LOT of detransitioners telling their story, already a massive amount but not everyone is hearing them as they tend to get ostracized by the cult when they've finally seen sense.

The fact that other mental health issues can cause people to think they are trans even tho they are not does not erase the fact that people with real disporia exist. But the majority has other mental health issues and are victims of medical maleproctise. We accept them too fast and dont care to question them and we are doing them a great disservice.

@@anonanon561 Klinefelters syndrome is not an indication that a male is "mismatched into the wrong body". It's a genetic mutation that may cause males to develop breasts, delay puberty and/or not grow as tall as an average male. The overwhelmingly vast amount of males affected with Klinefelter's syndrome live out their lives as male. Telling a male child "This proves you're a female" makes as much sense as telling a female "You have excess body hair, that makes you a male." Science is real.

I found it hard to contain my anger toward the doctors and therapist wholm fail these children. Also, when Hannah talks about some children are happy with the transition. Have they transitioned over 10 years yet? The peak of trangrender person suicide take place between 7-10 years after transition.

Why are their parents not being also held accountable for not discussing it and telling them to wait until they are older before deciding. Trouble is today an individual's rights supercede any medical advice anyway and being told no treatment should be carried out, is not accepted by a person insisting on their right to choose.

@@audreyblack8629 Without the doctor's help, parents have no access to the hormone blocker and surgery. The excuse of "I'm just doing what I'm told" is not good enough. Of course, there are parents who would go against the doctors / therapists recommendation and transition their kids abroad. However, it is extremely rare. Most of the time, parents were told "if they don't approve the medication or surgery, their kids are going to commit suicide or social services will take their kids away."

I know someone who was a leading trans campaigner who had become post-operative transsexual at 21. At 42, “her” depression was overwhelming. “She” wanted to become a man again, and having lobbied and worked for Health Canada was convinced that a cadaver’s penis could be harvested and sown back on. Not only was this completely incorrect, but incredibly, well, twisted. By the way, “she” told me that by paying $100 for a remote psychological assessment back in the day, authorisation was given for a complete top and bottom surgical alteration of the originally fully intact male body of this person into that of a sterile, faux female. Life was enjoyed for a few years, but then the reality that this had basically been an ill thought out whim came crashing into the long term reality of being neither fully a woman nor a man, and still not fitting in despite irreversible physical changes which were covered up by delusional thinking.

What utter hogwash. They weren't giving "remote psychological assessments" for anything 21 or 25 years ago. We're talking telemedicine here, right? And they certainly weren't handing out approvals for sex-reassignment surgery. Conceivably they could have offered hormone prescriptions online, only I never heard of such a thing. What is inconceivable is that a woman in her 40s imagines that she can harvest a penis from a cadaver. And how do you wait 21 years before becoming dissatisfied with your sex change? If you've spent all your adult life in one sex, what could cause you to want to change that, and why wouldn't a therapist or surgeon have detected potential misgivings back in the day? If we give the story the benefit of the doubt, then we have to suppose that this person is highly unstable, and in another ten or twenty years will want to be a woman again. Finally, 20-odd years ago no one spoke of "top and bottom surgical alteration"; that's a latter-day turn of phrase. When people had "the surgery" that meant srs, not cosmetic face remodeling or breast augmentation. So the story is a big fat fib from beginning to end.

It is sad. Also who the hell would give permission for their penis to be "harvested " after his death. Not only creepy, but assumptive. I am all for donor organs ie heart, lung, kidney etc. for genuine not at fault medical reasons, but surely you have to be unquestionably sure before making these irreversable descisions. It's all very well to sue or blame the counselllers or medical "professionals" who allowed this, but their own deluded descisions ultimately led to this.

Well, in answer to the two examples, Buck Angel and Blair White, both call themselves Transexuals and distance themselves from the current Trans gender, they do not support young children being trans'd. They also oppose the Gender Clinics and gender laws in the USA which appear to be based on profitability. So, two successful transitions but both anti trans gender. The also use 'sex' in the correct manner.

The sheer lack of agreement from caring professionals should have been a strong enough alarm bell that real and robust studies need to be researched. We should be searching for the results of what has happened but there should be a desire to avoid any and all chemical or physical life changing treatments and find any alternative treatment that reduces pain and feelings of disphoria before daring to accept a child's view on gender that will potentially ruin a life

There needs to be more studies into the effects of puberty blockers. Puberty is an extremely complex and important transition that children need to go through to become a fully functioning adult. The parents and children will absolutely of believed they knew what they were doing and that's the worst thing... having been in a similar situation (different health issue) I know how it feels to be desperate for help, thinking the Drs know what is best for you, only to learn really they don't understand nearly as much as you'd hoped. I would be sick to the pit of my stomach if I was one of these kids and learnt they had no idea what they were doing essentially, at least with my condition they were completely transparent of the dangers and risks of the treatments they had offered.

Yep! I'm not sure I buy the whole "gay kids weren't being transed consciously, necessarily" line. Are we really to believe the commonalities in these kids weren't glaringly obvious to these so-called clinicians?

Even if some people claim they have been happy with the service it still doesn't determine that puberty blockers, cross sex hormones and surgery is the only way for them to have reached that proclaimed happiness especially taking into account the damage all those things do if not immediately then definitely at a time further on down the line from the questionnaire that declared them "happy" in the immediate effect. If left alone the vast majority of these kids end up accepting of themselves past the age of 18 anyway, so its not justifiable to claim that chopping them up and destroying their physical and mental future has some kind of efficacy based on a sort term questionnaire. We don't do the same over dangerous things like cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, tattoos, living alone, not going to school and sexual activity by means of permitting them for minors and then asking if they are now happy that they could access them do we. There are much safer and less invasive routes to acceptance of oneself and happiness. For goodness sake!!

This is the way I feel...so this is the reality. Feelings and facts aren't the same. I have someone i know with a family member, that is not only a trans woman, but now identifies as a cat too. This is serious. No joke. Are we confirming this too? I think its obvious these children are suffering with homosexuality. Nothing more.

Yes gender disphoria is just another type of body dismorphia. Many girls have been sexually assaulted and now hat their body. Many of the girls sent their actually had anorexia. A lot of boys and girls are gay but have internalized homophobia so they hate themselves. They think if only I was the right sex then my sexual desires would be normal. I mean look at so many gay men that are girly or how many girls are butch. What do people think they are like as kids?

I blame the modern model of affirmative care for many of the problems that Tavistock had. Back in the 1980's when I transitioned, the program very much considered themselves as gatekeepers, which they saw as a prime responsibility for them as medical professionals. t was very much a case of sorting the wheat from the chaff, and could be quite adversarial at times.

At least this lady seemed to know what she was talking about and tried to be fair to both sides. Where I wonder did they get all the medical professionals when trans was almost non existent until recently and then suddenly there were thousands of them. Also there was only one narrative ever allowed which is never a good idea.

We need to understand the link between Mental Health and Autism in children and young people. We are letting these people down.

All you had to do was listen to story after story of young people talking about their own personal experiences. I only had to hear one person say “ the day I turned 18 I drove to a clinic 100 miles from where I lived and emerged 30 minutes later with testosterone,“ to understand how corrupt this industry is. Make it lifelong patient and have none of the pesky business of follow up. There’s an excellent four part series from Sweden about how they’ve turned around their gender industry to slow it down. And it clearly see how slick the corruption is. To create plausible deniability throughout the process, you have a medical part and a mental part, but they have no mechanism for coordinating between the two. Even if you assume - - I believe wrongly - - that there is no mental peace to the desire to transition, you cannot deny the need for follow up post transition, both medically and psychologically. But it’s not done. In the most prestigious, medical and psychological organizations, adopt a strict policy of a firm. Only, you should see the corruptness. Puberty blockers have only been around for less than 20 years there’s no long-term studies. It be minus one of the basic things that has set medicine apart which is the intellectual desire to study causes and results. All this best 😮practice is thrown out the window in an effort to overturn thousands of years of biology knowledge. It’s like we’re in the middle of a Dr. Mengele inspired experiment.

why is this woman being so hesitant in saying this process has been sped up all out of reason and that clinicians who argued for slowing down and exploring other therapies before grabbing the scalpel were being silenced/shamed/shouted down. WHAT THE HELL, people?

Thank goodness it’s closing…let children be just that, til they are of an age to know what they want!

The problem is we need long term studies, that do not only cover the first few years of transition. Also, how can an adult, who has never gone through puberty as a child, ever know how he or she would have fared not transitioning? Children are robbed their own development, many will be sterile and never have an orgasm. So how can they ever know how it would have been? They have been robbed the opportunity to come to terms with their sexed body.

I get the impression Hannah is being very cagey with how she's phrasing things. There's a lot that we know happened that she's sort of smoothing over a bit. I'm not sure whether she's trying to avoid the gender cultist mobbing her, or whether she's genuinely come away with a neutral conclusion.

I cannot believe that any young person would voluntarily surrender themselves to this kind of ‘treatment’ if they were told that they would forever lose all possibilty of having an orgasm. FOREVER.

The only explanation for the sudden phenomenon of youth having gender "confusion" can only be explained by rampant social media information or misinformation, or a sudden rise in mental instability. Parents need to retain their rights to decisions. What has never changed--forever--is that teens are experimental with a lack of maturity which is why parents must retain some control of life-long decisions.

Another case of if your favorite tool is a hammer, every problem is a nail.

We should be looking at why there’s been such an explosion in numbers of kids trying to access these services and thinking that they’re trans. It’s obviously a social contagion , driven or amplified by social media.

I don't believe that the old evidence base is weak or invalid in any way. I don't think it applies to many of these youth though, because they are presenting with these issues because of social contagion. It was insane to ever give puberty blockers to teenagers. Puberty is too important and should never be interfered with or jeopardized in any way, and outcomes are already showing as predicted by those with level heads that it doesn't work the way it is claimed to by all the so-called experts.

The one girl I know about who was transitioned at Tavistock who tried tried to detransition still looks and sounds like a boy. She was so upset about that that she sued. How can she be doing that well now?!

Drs. should DO NO HARM. Only the insane can justify mutilating a child. WOKE means oppressors and the oppressed. (1) Men are the oppressors, women are the oppressed. (2) Whites are the oppressors, non-whites are the oppressed. (3) Companies are the oppressors, workers are the oppressed. (4) Heterosexuals are the oppressors, homosexuals are the oppressed. Number (5) is the one I believe: (5) politicians are the oppressors and voters are the oppressed. -- Yes, there are abuses in our society and we should all have equal rights, such as life, liberty, freedom of religion, etc. If an adult human with male genitalia wants to be a woman and wear a dress that is okay with me. Should this human be allowed to enter a woman's dressing room? I say no. Should this human, born in a male body, with male genitalia or without them, if surgically removed, be allowed to compete in any sport, as a woman, for money, position, title, etc. I say no. After puberty males are stronger, faster, heavier and have denser bones and more blood cells.

Please dont be fooled, the Tavistock may be closings in London, but we are never told the truth it is being broke down into many smaller clinics all over the uk

Barnes's halting style of speech was exhausting.

What IS "trans"? How can a clinician reasonably agree that anyone could have the wrong body?

Not really a great interview...she is more interested in non hurting feelings than telling us what she found.

Child abuse? PIE was not considered child abuse at the time. And what about the hippocratic oath / 'Do no harm'? To find some real truth, it is time an investigative journalist followed the money to find out the source of what indicates as social contagion

Why is the trans movement so hell bent on having young kids medicalised? Any attempt to have a reasonable discussion ends in a tantrum! Why don’t they care about kids, especially those who de transition, by all accounts they are utterly savage towards these young people.

I've seen this sort of thing before: the interviewer (in this instance the UK's treasure Andrew Doyle) seems to want to lead the subject a certain way, to fly the tattered old 'anti-woke' flag or even use these trendy terms-- but they're temperamentally refusing, oblivious to the paradigm. Ms Barnes just WON'T be the the person the interviewer seems to want her to be. Her responses clearly showed me that she's trying to be academic, logical, rational, fair and rigorous in her research and assessment of this sprawling, complex cultural issue. Interviewers seem to want such people to tow the 'anti woke' team line, which I'm getting tired of seeing. Worst, is when the American Conservative Chrisitans get in on this stuff; it's all filtered through religious belief/moral relativism and volleyed at the Socially Progressive 'Left Wing' clubhouse as if there were no foot soldiers roaming the playing ground in between. Most people I consider intelligent and cultured are exactly those people; not part of either cartoonish Americanised 'team'. What is going on with our species? Are we getting stupider and simpler?! Either way, Ms Barnes just refused to be the person Doyle and so many others assumed she'd be, going by the questions continually rephrased and asked of her over and over.

Maybe to some extent, but she said the girl had detransitioned and was doing really well. As far as I know she still looks and sounds like a boy and was so upset about that that she sued! Doesn’t seem that accurate to me.

@@lh2435 It's desperately sad to behold these unstable, lost, mentally agonised teens and young folks being marshalled through this pathway so hastily instead of having a far more holistic, tailored, thorough type of therapy that addresses their own unique angst and confusion. I hope a great deal more of them sue, as you said. I also hope that more come out of the woodwork to talk generously and candidly about their experience. That's of far more value to me than listening to the strident theorising and never-ending thought experiments from over-exposed gasbagging American academics and ideologues. The mentally unwell have been horribly neglected and used in our era, it's them I feel for.

Not really, there is still homophobia today - so you could be a gay kid growing up in that environment and so you feel (wrongly) that you are really trans when the gender issue you have is really as a result of you being a gay boy or girl and not coming to terms with your own sexuality. Thats where things can go very wrong as the journalist here suggested.

Same sex attracted is amazing, says a lifelong 50 something lesbian. These kids need more gay and lesbian role models not celebrity's coming out as bloody non binary.

This interview is disingenuous. No mention of the 1,000 lawsuits brought against Tavistock for harm caused? What a half assed way to do journalism.

Interesting subject, but she's a hopeless speaker.

I wonder how many commit suicide because they can’t transition?
