    Doesn’t want no booty ass shit but uses a Nissan Maxima or Altima as vince’s car in fast 1. Uses a Mitsubishi Eclipse as a hero car in fast 1 and 2. Just another dumb ass director

    @@iansullivan7777 The Maxima and the Eclipse was the best they could do, they had a brand deal with Mitsubishi at the time, so they had to use Mitsubishi cars for the characters. And the Maxima for Fsst 1 was Craig's daily that they used because they were working with a low budget and they were already renting Craig's Supra

    When I saw the eclipse convertible I was literally praying in my head, "please don't be for Tyrese, please don't be for Tyrese." Ended up being for Tyrese and we had to watch a whole movie where one of the main cars was that eclipse

    I met Craig at a car meet in Newport Beach a few years ago and he is a very knowledgeable and humble guy. He never bragged about who he was and answered as many questions as he could. I’ll never forget that day.

    Heartbeat failsafe on a far that is trying to jump a bridge could stop the thing as it's going over the bridge and it would just fall into the water. So in this one particular case, was probably discussed and purposefully left off.

    The car was going fast enough to jump; even if they had it lock the wheels instantly it would still keep going for a bit

    @@TiagoTiagoT the wheel was held by the servo motors, so it would be locked on a lost signal already. a failsafe on a heartbeat typically hits the brakes only, which you could imagine is not ideal trying to jump a bridge.

    Tyrese was pretty closely involved with that build. He picked the wheels, the paintjob, and the interior color. It had bright yellow interior and spiderwebs on the outside at first.

    I was an extra in this movie. $75 a night to hang out around cool cars, yes! Fyi, the white building you see at 11:23 wasn't built when the movie was made. At 11:58 he says "ocean" that's not the Atlantic, that's the 2nd ave bridge that goes over the Miami River.

    So crazy, I met Craig at Hot Import Nights before “Fast and The Furious”. I was a Supra owner and he had his personal car there as show car, which was also a Supra. Who would have known the impact of the movie and having our car as the hero car. Pretty much changed the Supra’s visibility overnight. We all knew how overbuilt and easily tunable it was for the day, but no one outside the Supra community knew about it at all. Helped me sell the car for as much as I bought it when it was new. Only car I really regret selling.

    @@vamountainman2512 nowadays sure, but back then not really, I mean out of the box you had a 230 hp I4 turbo that got to 60 in about 5 and a half seconds, to put that into perspective a brand new corvette at the time got to 60 about 1 second faster with a V8.

    Reminds me of the first Smoky and the Bandit where GM didn't know if it was going to be successful and only gave them a few firebirds to use. Can you imagine riding in those patchwork jalopies trying to get the last action sequences done? Yikes!

    I believe it was like 4 or 5 Trans Am's and 2 or 3 Bonneville's for the Police cars. The creek jump supposedly twisted the front clip or just messed up the unibody structure beyond repair thet they spent the rest of the shoot just scavenging parts from it to keep the others going. For what GM got in return is enough for even me to give socialism a second look.

    having worked for a car rental company for 5+ years, this is far from the worst thing that has ever happened to a rental car just from our location and we're in the middle of nowhere. I can't imagine what must happen at major city locations.

    I had a SRT-4 ACR while I was stationed in Italy. Some of the most fun I had in a car was driving the race track that is southern Italy.

    @@hardup9809 This movie was in 03 same year the new Srt-4 came out maybe this meeting was in 2001/02 and he was thinking about the older Neon. I know he mentioned the SRT-4 specifically possibly an honest mistake.

    @@hardup9809 He’s not talking shit about the actual performance of the car. It’s because of how they were perceived, it was the early 2000’s when this movie came out, neon’s were a joke in the car community back then.

    I always liked the SRT4 it was fast and cheap. ACR Neons were respected at the track back in the day.

    I wish they kept the srt-4 in as a secondary car. I miss stage 2 mopar so much. So easy to make huge power and handled on rails with enough suspension upgrades.

    The stuntman in question was my father lol. He’s also the one who set up the whole self driving assembly in the cars. Funny watching this because I’ve heard this story from him so many times growing up.
