Why force them to the narrowest part of the road? Well, we must think about the time in which this was written and what the narrowest part of the road really is. It was narrow because it was a sort of channel or drainage system, as for what was draining in them, well, they certainly didn't have toilets at that time. People being people, it was just easier for them to throw their waste in the street than to bury it. Anyways, forcing the "Dhimmis" to the narrowest part was just another way to humiliate those who did not accept Islam.

What is carnage?

The translation of this verse is very modest to say the least. This one of the translations that is trying to make Islam look better. Fight until they give the jezya ( بكره) does not mean willingly, it means Take it FORCEFULLY. And (صاغرون) does not mean by any means humbled it means HUMILIATED.

I live in sweden and i come from the suburbs where u pay like 3 extra % income tax compared to inner city where the money hungry lives.. and if I dont pay I get jailed for the same amount that I owe them(in many cases i'd do less time if i killed some1).. Jizya is a tax. For example you do not pay tax you go jail nowadays in every country. Do you know that? And you die in prison unless you pay the taxes. Jizya is all taxes collected in one. Basically everyone pays 'Jizya' Since Muhammed(pbuh) told non-Muslims to pay Jizya.Muslims were already praying taxes in form of dinars,gold,goods. For example you go to live illegal in the USA and you are not an Official citizen of the USA. THEN you do not pay taxes. You either become citizen illegally or you are forced to leave the country.

Because Jizyah is taken from those who are able to "fight in war". Jizyah is "protection" money, taken as payment not only to allow none muslims to live in a muslim caliphate, but also as payment to the Muslim armies to defend the dhimmi from agressions. This is why dhimmi none muslims do not serve in Muslim caliphate armies. Women, elders, children, and people in shrines and monasteries are classified as unable to make war, therefore no need to take Jizyah from them, since they are not giving up their ability and right for self defense, they are considered not having this ability in the first place. Of course all of that does not justify Jizya. Worth mentioning that among the 4 sunnite Muslim Sharia schools (Hanafi, Maliki, Hanbali, Shafii), there is a disagreement on none Abrahamic religions followers and polytheists, if both classes are eligible to be dhimmi or not. They also disagree on the geographical areas a dhimmi in Muslim land can or can not continue living, some of them citing Hadith from Boukhari and Muslim that the prophet of Islam ordered all none muslims expelled from certain areas, the most violent Hadith stating the entire Arabian peninsula. Also worth mentioning that spoils of war, Jizya and slavery were behind the sudden influx of wealth to the Muslims in the first 100 years of Muslim invasions, since a portion of the conquered people simply became dhimmi. Muslim later became majority through colonization, polygamy and much higher birth rates. It's easy to find the supports of my explanation from Muslim books but my hand started to hurt typing, if you do not want to Google it I can do that for you upon your request.

In the past, about 10 years back, me being much ignorant on what Islam actually is, meant to be friendly towards the turkish cook working in a restaurant downstairs (in the islamic state of Berlin). Meeting him in the courtyard i offered a friendly "Salam Aleikum" to him. He in turn instantly got angry and replied: "You can't say this , you are not a Muslim..." Puzzeled i said..."but it just means : "peace be with you..." He made it very clear: "Peace is with Muslims only , not with you- not with an infidel".

Islamic jurists required adult, free, healthy males among the dhimma community to pay the jizya, while exempting women, children, the elderly, slaves, those affected by mental or physical handicaps, and travelers who did not settle in Muslim lands en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dhimmi#Jizya_tax Im no fan on Islam, but it shouldn't be presented worse than it is. One could also argue that the core values of the west is the destruction of the planet and National Socialism.

Only healthy man?....haha.......take a case of a poor fellow earning 100 dollars on an investment of 40 dollars.........and now he is asked to pay 50 dollars as jizya......wowwwwww wonderful n not worse right?!

I have previously seen video from muslim apologist saying jizyah means spiritual struggle and supported by many non muslims see how deceptive

I have heard it argued (from the Islamic side) that the jizyah that dhimmi have to pay is a relative bargain in comparison to the tax/fee/alms that Muslims are compelled to pay. Is any part of that even close to being accurate?

As I said in the video, I can't even give any reliable information as to how much the jizya is, because it differs between Islamic schools, and in history, it differs between different caliphates. Therefore the usual "moderate" Muslim claim is totally baseless and ridiculous. Also, the zakat is a charity (not a tax) by Muslims for the poor, and around a bit more than 2% of their wealth, while the jizya is an obligatory protection money (tax) for non-Muslims that was heavily unfair in some periods of the Abbasids and especially unfair under the Umayyads. Another perspective: Not paying any zakat will have you questioned, while not paying the jizya would have you stripped off your rights and killed or exiled.
